Perturbations caused by windstorms usually lead to the harvesting and clearcutting of fallen trees and wood debris,especially in the areas of managed forest *** shifts in soils due to management practices play a crucial role in the restoration and maintaining of key ecosystem *** paper focuses on topsoil chemical properties in relation to vegetation type(trees,shrubs and herbs)evolving at windstorm damaged(in 2004)areas with former Norway spruce(Picea abies)forests in the Tatra ***(slovakia).We assessed the content of topsoil organic matter fractions(extractives,holocellulose(hC)and lignin(Lig)),carbon in microbial biomass(Cmic),soil organic matter(sOM)and the content of elements N,C,h and *** study plots represent different types of post-windthrow disturbance history/regime:wooden debris extraction(EXT),wooden debris not extracted(NEX),wooden debris extraction followed by wildfire(fir),affected by the windstorm in 2014 with the subsequent wooden debris extraction(REX)and unaffected(REF).Our results revealed significant differences among sites in the content of dichloromethane extractives(EXT *** and fir),acetone extractives(NEX ***,fir and REF),ethanol extractives(fir ***,NEX and REF),water extractives(fir ***,NEX)and Cmic(EXT ***,fir and REF).The topsoil of Vaccinium myrtillus and Picea abies showed a higher ratio of C/N,N/Lig,and Lig/hC compared to Rubus idaeus,Avenella flexuosa,Calamagrostis villosa,and Larix *** content of N,C,h and s varied between topsoil with shrubs(Vaccinium myrtillus,Rubus idaeus)and grasses(Avenella flexuosa,Calamagrostis villosa).A positive correlation between soil organic matter(sOM)and polar extractives(r=0.81)and a negative correlation between sOM and hC(r=-0.83)was *** carbon content in microbial biomass(Cmic)is positively correlated with acid soluble lignin(AsL)(r=0.85).We also identified a strong correlation between Klason lignin(KL)and the Lig/hC ratio(r=0.97).

A search for the rare decay B^(0)→J/ψФis performed using Pp collision data collected with the LhCb dete-ctor at centre-of-mass energies of 7,8 and 13 TeV,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of9 *** significant signal of the decay is observed and an upper limitof 1.1x 10^(-7)at 90%confidence level is set on the branching fraction.

This paper describes two structures of the digital decimation filter which is used in ∑Δ A/Dconverters in ADsL. single fir and three stages comb-fir-fir the two presented structures. The hardware minimization is considered for each structure and the final simulation results and implementations are presented. Finally, a comparison between the two structures is done to choose the best structure based on the hardware cost.

Annual and Monthly Variations in Litter Macronutrients of Three subalpine Forests in Western China

Macronutrients （N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and s） in litter of three primarily spruce （Picea purpurea Masters）（sF）, fir （Abies faxoniana Rehder ＆ E. h. Wilson）（FF）, and birch （Betula platyphylla sukaczev）（BF） subalpine forests in western China were measured to understand the monthly variations in litter nutrient concentrations and annual and monthly nutrient returns via litteffall. Nutrient concentration in litter showed the rank order of Ca 〉 N 〉 Mg 〉 K 〉 s 〉 P. Monthly variations in nutrient concentrations were greater in leaf litter （LL） than other litter components. The highest and lowest concentrations of N, P, K, and s in LL were found in the growing season and the nongrowing season, respectively, but Ca and Mg were the opposite. Nutrient returns via litterfall showed a marked monthly pattern with a major peak in October and one or two small peaks in February and/or May, varying with the element and stand type, but no marked monthly variations in nutrient returns via woody litter, reproductive litter, except in May for the BF, and moss litter. Not only litter production but also nutrient concentration controlled the annual nutrient return and the monthly nutrient return pattern. The monthly patterns of the nutrient concentration and return were of ecological importance for nutrient cycling and plant growth in the subalpine forest ecosystems.

The deconvolution problem is to design a deconvolution filter that reconstructs a signal from the noise corrupted measurement output of a signal transmission channel. In this paper, we consider the deconvolution problem for uncertain periodic fir transmission channels. The uncertainty appears in the channel coefficients and is norm bounded. The aim is to design an optimal h2 deconvolution filter subject to an h ∞ performance constraint. A solution to this mixed h2/h∞, problem is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. An advantage of the linear matrix inequality solution is in its computational efficiency using standard software.

Generation of arbitrarily spin-polarized electron and positron beams has been investigated in the single-shot interaction of high-energy polarized r-photons with an ultraintense asymmetric laser pulse via nonlinear Breit-Wheeler pair *** develop a fully spin-resolved semi-classical Monte Carlo method to describe the pair creation and *** the considered general setup,there are two sources of the polarization of created pairs:the spin angular momentum transfer from the polarized parent-photons,as well as the asymmetry and polarization of the driving laser *** allows to develop a highly sensitive tool to control the polarization of created electrons and ***,dense GeV lepton beams with average polarization degree up to about 80%,adjustable continuously between the transverse and longitudinal components,can be obtained by our all-optical method with currently achievable laser facilities,which could find an application as injectors of the polarized e^(+)e^(-)collider to search for new physics beyond the standard Model.

Parental imprinting is an epigenetic process leading to monoallelic expression of certain genes depending on their parental *** diseases are characterized by growth and metabolic issues starting from birth to *** are mainly due to methylation defects in imprinting control region that drive the abnormal expression of imprinted *** currently lack relevant animal or cellular models to unravel the pathophysiology of growth failure in these *** aimed to characterize the methylation of imprinting regions in dental pulp stem cells and during their differentiation in osteogenic cells(involved in growth regulation)to assess the interest of this cells in modeling imprinting *** collected dental pulp stem cells from five controls and four patients(three with silver-Russell syndrome and one with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome).Methylation analysis of imprinting control regions involved in these syndromes showed a normal profile in controls and the imprinting defect in *** results were maintained in dental pulp stem cells cultured under osteogenic ***,we confirmed the same pattern in six other loci involved in imprinting diseases in *** also confirmed monoallelic expression of h19(an imprinted gene)in controls and its biallelic expression in one *** imprinting control regions methylation analysis shows the strong potential of dental pulp stem cells in modeling imprinting diseases,in which imprinting regions are preserved in culture and during osteogenic *** will allow to perform in vitro functional and therapeutic tests in cells derived from dental pulp stem cells and generate other cell-types.

Factors affecting bone turnover in premature infants are not entirely clear bu t certainly are different from those influencing bones of adults and children. T o identify fetal and maternal factors that might influence bone turnover, we pro spectively studied 50 infants (30 preterm and 20 full-term) born at Ain shams U niversity Obstetric hospital in Cairo, Egypt. Maternal parity and medical histor y and infant's weight, gestational age, gender and anthropometrical measurement s were recorded. Cord blood samples were collected and serum type I collagen C t erminal propeptide (PICP) was assessed as a marker for fetal bone formation. fir.st morning urine samples were collected and pyridinoline cross-links of collage n (Pyd) were measured as an index for bone resorption. serum PICP was higher in premature infants when compared with full-term infants (73.30 ±15.1 versus 64. 3 ±14.7, p = 0.022) and was higher in male premature infants when compared with females (81.64 ±9.06 versus 66.0 ±15.7, p = 0.018). In a multiple regression model using PICP as the dependent variable and controlling for different infant and maternal conditions ,PICP significantly correlated with infant gender (r = 8.26 ±4.1, p = 0.05) mat ernal parity (r = -2.106 ±0.99, p = 0.041) and diabetes (r = 22.488 ±8.73, p = 0.041). Urine Pyd tended to increase in premature infants (612 ±308 versus 43 4 ±146, p = 0.057) and correlated significantly with gestational age (r = -63. 93 ±19.55, p = 0.002). Therefore, bone formation (PICP) is influenced by fetal age and gender, as well as maternal parity and diabetes. Bone resorption (Pyd) i s mostly dependent on gestational age only. Further indepth studies are needed t o enrich management of this vulnerable population.
