Based on the LAM-ICPMS analytic results on the trace elements of clinopyroxenes in peridotitic xenoliths occurring in early-Cretaceous basalts from western Xinjiang, the properties and the deep processes, including partial melting and mantle metasomatism, of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle beneath the Tuoyun Basin are analyzed. In the northern edge of the Tarim Basin (southwest Tian-shan), the Mesozoic subcontinental lithosphere which has experienced the effect of partial melting (<10%) and intricate mantle metasomatism is characterized by Phanerozoic ’ocean-type’ mantle. The superposed influence of SiO2-un-saturated silicate melt and carbonate melt probably results in the metasomatic medium which resembles the hydrous silicated carbonate melt in some aspects. By comparing Tuoyun mantle with Cenozoic main mantle beneath eastern China, the properties are similar, while the former shows finer grain and higher diopside content of the peridotites and more conspicuous modal metasomatism.

Background Previous studies have shown evidence of health-related risk behaviors among women who have sex with women （WSW）, such as sex with men, multiple bisexual partners, and drug use. Women who have sex with women have also been known to avoid routine physical examinations and conceal their same-sex history from physicians, which can affect their ability to receive an accurate diagnosis and treatment. No previous research has targeted women who have sex with women in China. We sought to describe women who have sex with women in China and explore risk factors for their reproductive tract infections （RTI）/sexually transmitted infections （STI）. Methods Participants were recruited through outreach in venues and online for a cross-sectional study. Data were collected using interviews and laboratory tests. Results We recruited 224 women who have sex with women. In the year preceding their participation in the study, 92% （206/224） of women reported sexual relations with women. The RTI rates were： gonorrhea （15.8%）, chlamydia （3.5%）, syphilis （0.5%）, bacterial vaginosis （14.4%）, hepatitis B virus （HBV）（0.9%）, hepatitis C virus （HCV）（0.5%）, and candidiasis （6.9%）. No HIV or herpes simplex virus （HSV） positive cases were detected. Factors associated with gonorrhea infection were non-Beijing local residency （odds ratio （OR）=2.1, 95% confidence interval （C/）： 1.2-3.8） and genital-genital contact （OR=3.1, 95% CI： 1.3-7.2）; factors associated with curable STI （excluding bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis, HBV and HCV） were non-Beijing local residency （OR=1.9; 95% CI： 1.2-3.0） and bleeding during or after sex （OR=18.1; 95% CI： 5.2-62.6）; and the factor associated with RTI （including all the infections tested） was bleeding during or after sex （OR=37.8, 95% CI： 11.2-127.4）. Conclusions Behaviors that may cause RTI/STI exist among Chinese women who have sex with women. Researchers should consider these behaviors when planninq correspondin.q prevention and interventions.

Inherited photoreceptor degeneration（IPD）：The human retina is a highly specialised tissue that enables the perception of light across a range of intensities and *** covers about65%of the inner surface of the eye and contains three layers of cells：the outer nuclear layer（ONL）containing the cell bodies and nuclei of the light-sensitive rod and cone photoreceptorswhose photopigment-containing outer segments form the photoreceptor layer; the inner nuclear layer （INL） containing bipolar, horizontal and amacrine cells; and the ganglion cell layer （GCL） from which the optic nerve arises. There are two layers of synaptic connections between these three layers： the photoreceptors synapse with second order neurons, mainly bi- polar cells, in the outer plexiform layer （OPL）, while in turn the bipolar cells form connections in the inner plexiform layer （IPL） with ganglion cells. The retinal pigment epithelium （RPE） lies directly behind the photoreceptor layer, is heavily pigmented to reduce scattering of light, and is essential for the nourishment, maintenance and metabolism of photoreceptors.

Single zircon LAM-ICPMS U-Pb dating indi-cates that the Guidong granitic complex is a multistage ba-tholith formed during Indosinian-Yanshanian time. The Luxi body (239 ± 5 Ma) and the Xiazhuang body (235.8 ± 7.6 Ma) intruded during Indosinian time, whereas the Aizi body (160.1 ± 6.1 Ma) and the Siqian body (151 ± 11 Ma) formed during Yanshanian time. Inherited zircons (1275—2137 Ma) in the Xiazhuang body imply that at least part of the source rocks of the Guidong complex are from the Proterozoic basement of southeast China. Detailed single zirconLAM-ICPMS U-Pb dating results provide important evi-dence for understanding the evolution, tectonic setting andmineralisation of the complex.

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate （EGCG）, a bioactive component of green tea, has been reported to exert anti-inflammatory effects on immune cells. EGCG is also shown to activate the metabolic regulator, adenosine 5＇-monophosphate-activated protein kinase （AMPK）. Reports have also indicated that EGCG inhibits the immune-stimulated phosphoinositide 3-kinase （PI3K）/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin （mTOR） pathway. The PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway has been implicated in mesangial cell activation in lupus. Mesangial cells from MRUIpr lupus-like mice are hyper-responsive to immune stimulation and overproduce nitric oxide （NO） and other inflammatory mediators when stimulated. In our current studies, we sought to determine the mechanism by which EGCG attenuates immune-induced expression of pro-inflammatory mediators. Cultured mesangial cells from MRL/Ipr mice were pre-treated with various concentrations of EGCG and stimulated with lipopolysaccharide （LPS）/interferon （IFN）-γ. EGCG activated AMPK and blocked LPS/ IFN-γ-induced inflammatory mediator production （iNOS expression, supernatant NO and interleukin-6）. Interestingly, EGCG attenuated inflammation during AMPK inhibition indicating that the anti-inflammatory effect of EGCG may be partially independent of AMPK activation. Furthermore, we found that EGCG effectively inhibited the immune-stimulated PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway independently of AMPK, by decreasing phosphorylation of Akt, suggesting an alternate mechanism for EGCG-mediated anti-inflammatory action in mesangial cells. Taken together, these studies show that EGCG attenuated inflammation in MRL/Ipr mouse mesangial cells via the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. Our findings suggest a potential therapeutic role for the use of EGCG to regulate inflammation and control autoimmune disease.
