Multi-mechanical waves against Alzheimer’s disease pathology:a systematic review

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is the most common cause of dementia,afecting approximately 40 million people *** inefectiveness of the available pharmacological treatments against AD has fostered researchers to focus on alternative strategies to overcome this *** vibrations delivered in diferent stimulation modes have been associated with marked improvements in cognitive and physical performance in both demented and nondemented *** of the mechanical-based stimulation modalities in eforts are earlier whole-body vibration,transcranial ultrasound stimulation with microbubble injection,and more recently,auditory ***,there is a huge variety of treatment specifcations,and in many cases,conficting results are *** this review,a search on scopus,PubMed,and Web of science databases was performed,resulting in 37 *** studies suggest that mechanical vibrations delivered through diferent stimulation modes are efective in attenuating many parameters of AD pathology including functional connectivity and neuronal circuit integrity defcits in the brains of AD patients,as well as in subjects with cognitive decline and non-demented older *** the evolving preclinical and clinical evidence on these therapeutic modalities,their translation into clinical practice is not consolidated ***,this comprehensive and critical systematic review aims to address the most important gaps in the reviewed protocols and propose optimal regimens for future clinical application.

Combinatorial therapies for spinal cord injury repair

spinal cord injuries have profound detrimental effects on individuals, regardless of whether they are caused by trauma or non-traumatic events. The compromised regeneration of the spinal cord is primarily attributed to damaged neurons, inhibitory molecules, dysfunctional immune response, and glial scarring. Unfortunately, currently, there are no effective treatments available that can fully repair the spinal cord and improve functional outcomes. Nevertheless, numerous pre-clinical approaches have been studied for spinal cord injury recovery, including using biomaterials, cells, drugs, or technological-based strategies. Combinatorial treatments, which target various aspects of spinal cord injury pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade. These approaches aim to synergistically enhance repair processes by addressing various obstacles faced during spinal cord regeneration. Thus, this review intends to provide scientists and clinicians with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches that have been developed toward the solution of spinal cord regeneration as well as update the current knowledge about spinal cord injury pathophysiology with an emphasis on the current clinical management.

Ultrafast synthesis and sintering of materials in a single running experiment approach by using electric fields

Processing of materials in the form of ceramics normally involves several steps including calcination at a relatively low temperature for synthesis of the end-product powder and sintering at a high temperature for *** work we have been developing introduces a novel approach enabling synthesis plus sintering of materials in a single running experiment by using electric fields,ending with dense ceramics that display grains noticeably finer than in conventional *** new paradigm is fully illustrated with experiments conducted on amorphous CaCu3Ti4O12 precursor powder,shown to experience,on heating,crystallization through intermediate phases,followed by chemical reaction leading to synthesis of the end-product powder,plus densification depending on field *** processing time and furnace temperature are considerably reduced,demonstrating that enhanced synthesis and sintering rates applied under field *** results found in Bi2/3Cu3Ti4O12are also *** different factors that may contribute to this unique scenario,including Joule heating,defect generation,and reduction of free energy for nuclei formation promoted by the applied field,are briefly ***,the findings we bring here are exclusive as they show an exploitable way that allows rapid processing of materials with good control over particle and grain coarsening.

spinal cord injury(sCI)involves an initial traumatic phase,followed by secondary events such as ischemia,increased blood-spinal cord barrier permeability,ionic disruption,glutamate excitotoxicity,and metabolic alterations.A pe rsistent and exagge rated inflammato ry response within the spinal cord accompanies these events(Lima et al.,2022).The complexity and interplay of these mechanisms exacerbate the initial injury,leading to a degenerative process at the injury *** the initial trauma is unavoidable,the secondary injury begins within minutes and can last for months,creating an optimal window for therapeutic intervention.

The radial surface coating layer of compression piston rings is used to improve their wear resistance during the internal combustion engine ***,at top dead centers,the friction coefficient of the piston ring–cylinder liner pair is detrimental to the engine’s tribological *** this work,dimples with different texture dimensions and densities were tested in a home-developed *** friction coefficient was measured for all samples,and for those with the best results,their wear resistance was *** texture with an aspect ratio of 0.25 and a density area of 15%reported the best tribological results.

Photobiomodulation:a novel approach to promote trans-differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells into neuronal-like cells

Photobiomodulation,originally used red and near-infrared lasers,can alter cellular *** has been demonstrated that the visible spectrum at 451-540 nm does not necessarily increase cell proliferation,near-infrared light promotes adipose stem cell proliferation and affects adipose stem cell migration,which is necessary for the cells homing to the site of *** this in vitro study,we explored the potential of adipose-derived stem cells to differentiate into neurons for future translational regenerative treatments in neurodegenerative disorders and brain *** investigated the effects of various biological and chemical inducers on trans-differentiation and evaluated the impact of photobiomodulation using 825 nm near-infrared and 525 nm green laser light at 5 J/*** adipose-derived stem cells can be used in autologous grafting and photobiomodulation has been shown to have biostimulatory *** findings reveal that adipose-derived stem cells can indeed trans-differentiate into neuronal cells when exposed to inducers,with pre-induced cells exhibiting higher rates of proliferation and trans-differentiation compared with the control ***,green laser light stimulation led to notable morphological changes indicative of enhanced trans-differentiation,while near-infrared photobiomodulation notably increased the expression of neuronal *** biochemical analysis and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays,we observed marked improvements in viability,proliferation,membrane permeability,and mitochondrial membrane potential,as well as increased protein levels of neuron-specific enolase and ciliary neurotrophic ***,our results demonstrate the efficacy of photobiomodulation in enhancing the trans-differentiation ability of adipose-derived stem cells,offering promising prospects for their use in regenerative medicine for neurodegenerative disorders and brain injuries.

Dipeptidyl peptidase 4(DPP4),also known as adenosine deaminase binding protein or cluster of differentiation 26(CD26),is a serine exopeptidase able to inactivate peptides composed of proline,hydroxyproline,or alanine as the penultimate *** has a strong capacity to act in various peptides and is also widely expressed in many specialized cell types,such as endothelial cells,macrophages,and *** its physiological aspects,DPP4 inactivates the glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1),an incretin secreted by the gastrointestinal tract(1).Based on the antidiabetic actions of this incretin,several DPP4 inhibitors(named as gliptins)were launched in the market and are being in use for the treatment of type 2 diabetes(1).It is noteworthy that DPP4 also inactivate some cytokines,chemokines,and neuropeptides involved in inflammation,immunity,and vascular function(2).

Non-aerated liquid culture promotes shoot organogenesis in Eucalyptus globulus Labill

Eucalyptus is very recalcitrant to in vitro *** this research, an efficient shoot organogenesis system was developed using 60-day-old plants of Eucalyptus globulus grown in vitro and non-aerated liquid medium to improve shoot proliferation. Cultures were initiated with hypocotyls and leaf segments from plantlets cultivated on semisolid 1/2 Ms modified medium supplemented with 4.44 μM 6-Benzyladenine(BA) and 16.1 μM 1-Naphthaleneacetic acid(NAA). Calli were transferred to shoot induction medium, with either 0.5 or 2.7 μM NAA. shoot multiplication was carried out on 4.44 μM BA + 0.5 μM NAA medium, and semisolid and non-aerated liquid systems were compared for improving shoot *** of adventitious shoots was evaluated on medium containing NAA or Indole-3-butyric acid-IBA(5 and16 μM). Callogenesis was obtained from both types of explants, although shoot formation was only obtained from leaf-derived calli. shoot proliferation on 4.44 μM BA+0.5 μM NAA resulted in the most shoots/***-aerated liquid medium was more efficient in promoting shoot multiplication(53.5 shoots/callus) than was semisolid medium(28.5 shoots/callus). Levels of phenolic compounds were significantly reduced in the shoots cultivated in liquid medium. Efficient rooting(76%) was obtained using 16 μM IBA.
