A minimalist approach for detecting sensor abnormality in oil and gas platforms

Compressors play an important role in day-to-day operation in most oil and gas platforms,especially in the case for maintaining gas pressure in transportation *** complex problem to detect the sensors health and abnormality as the sensor reading would reflect the various states of the *** ideal situation,sensor readings offer vast amounts of information on compressor health and could possibly indicate early fault of ***,due to harsh site and process operating conditions,sensors are often found to have drifted or failed,and there is no standard methodology to predict abnormality apart from applying emerging industrial smart sensor *** this paper,we investigate a minimalist approach for detecting abnormality of compressor's shaft's RPM *** the sensors in the compressor are correlated,we first use the outputs of other sensors to predict the shaft's RPM using regression-based models(neural networks and multiple linear regression).Second,we calculate the histogram of residuals by taking the difference between the predicted sensor value and the actual sensor value plus the abnormality in terms of bias/miscalibration and *** histogram of residuals can be used for sensor abnormality *** general,sensor states can be monitored by observing the shifting of the mean in the histogram of *** sensor readings contaminated with noise can be seen by a shifted mean whose value is between the normal condition mean and the biased condition *** method is compact and would be relevant to monitor irregularity of the sensors.

Background:Aedes aegypti(Diptera:Culicidae)is the main vector of the dengue virus *** vector control is mainly based on reducing the vector population through interventions,which target potential breeding ***,in Tanzania,little is known about this vector’s habitat productivity and insecticide susceptibility status to support evidence-based implementation of control *** present study aimed at assessing the productivity and susceptibility status of *** mosquitoes to pyrethroid-based insecticides in Dar es Salaam,***:An entomological assessment was conducted between January and July 2015 in six randomly selected wards in Dar es Salaam,*** productivity was determined by the number of female adult *** mosquitoes emerged per square *** susceptibility status of adult *** females after exposure to 0.05%deltamethrin,0.75%permethrin and 0.05%lambda-cyhalothrin was evaluated using the standard WhO *** rates were recorded after 24 h exposure and the knockdown effect was recorded at the time points of 10,15,20,30,40,50 and 60 min to calculate the median knockdown times(KDT50 and KDT95).Results:The results suggest that disposed tyres had the highest productivity,while water storage tanks had the lowest productivity among the breeding habitats Of *** *** sites demonstrated reduced susceptibility to deltamethrin(0.05%)within 24 h post exposure,with mortalities ranging from 86.3±1.9(mean±SD)to 96.8±0.9(mean±SD).The lowest and highest susceptibilities were recorded in Mikocheni and Sinza wards,***,all sites demonstrated reduced susceptibility permethrin(0.75%)ranging from 83.1±2.1%(mean±SD)to 96.2±0.9%(mean±SD),in Kipawa and Sinza,*** low mortality rates were observed in relation to lambda-cyhalothrin(0.05%)at all sites,ranging from 83.1±0.7(mean±SD)to 86.3±1.4(mean±SD).The median KDT_(50)for deltamethrin,permethrin and lambda-cyhalo

Introduction: Our objective was to compare the epidemiologic profile of maternal mortality in two structures serving as referral levels of care in Cameroon. Methodology: This cross-sectional, comparative study took place at the maternities of the Yaoundé Central hospital (YCh) and the Bamenda Regional hospital (BRh) from December 1st 2014 to May 31st 2015, a 6 months’ period. The medical records of deceased women over 5 years, from January 2010 to December 2014, were collected. We calculated the MMR (Maternal mortality rate) and studied the causes and risk factors associated with maternal death. The Epi info software 3.5.4 was used to analyze data with a significance level of P he maternal mortality ratio (MMR) was 964 and 247 per 100,000 live births for YCh and BRh, respectively. More deaths occurred within the aged group range 20 to 34 years, 76.8% at YCh and 64.7% at BRh. At YCh, 70.7% of these patients were referrals versus 32.4% at BRh. Complication from abortion was often implicated at BRh (P = 0.007;OR = 0.31;CI = 0.13 - 0.74). Others causes were hemorrhage (YCh = 43.4%;BRh = 35.5%), hypertensive diseases (YCh = 17.2%;BRh = 14.7%) and infections (YCh = 8.1%;BRh = 17.6%). At YCh time elapsed from admission to death was h (P = 0.005;OR = 6.63;CI = 1.49 - 29.5). Conclusion: Both hospitals have similar causes of maternal deaths, differing only in the context within which the deaths occurred. Improving access to good quality health care, satisfying unmet needs for family planning, availability of blood products and the establishment of health insurance could decrease the maternal mortality rate.
