Excess calcium(Ca)in soils of semi-arid and arid regions has negative effects on soil structure and chemical properties,which limits the crop root growth as well as the availability of soil water and *** the spatial variability of soil Ca contents may reveal factors influencing soil erosion and provide a basis for site-specific soil and crop management in semi-arid *** study sought to assess the spatial variability of soil Ca in relation to topography,hydraulic attributes,and soil types for precision soil and crop management in a 194-ha production field in the Southern High Plains of Texas,*** at four depth increments(0-2,0-15,15-30,and 30-60 cm)were sampled at 232 points in the spring of *** Ca content of each sample was determined with a DP-6000 Delta Premium portable X-ray fluorescence(PXRF)*** data was obtained using a real-time kinematic gPS receiver with centimeter-level accuracy.A digital elevation model(DEM)was derived from the elevation data,and topographic and hydraulic attributes were generated from this DEM.A generalized least-squares model was then developed to assess the relationship between soil Ca contents of the four layers and the topographic and hydraulic *** showed that topographic attributes,especially slope and elevation,had a significant effect on soil Ca content at different depths(Pbutes,especially flow length and sediment transport index(STI),had a significant effect on the spatial distribution of soil *** variability of soil Ca and its relationships with topographic and hydraulic attributes and soil types indicated that surface soil loss may occur due to water or wind erosion,especially on susceptible soils with high ***,this study suggests that the application of PXRF in assessing soil Ca content can potentially facilitate a new method for soil erosion evaluation in semi-arid *** results of this study provide

In vitro Safety Evaluation and Anticlastogenic Effect of bacomind^(TM) on Human Lymphocytes

Objective bacomind^TM （bM） is a standardized extract of bacopa monnieri, which belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae and is a creeping annual plant found throughout the Indian subcontinent. It has been used by Ayurvedic medicinal practitioners in India for almost 3000 years and is classified as a medharasayana, a substance which improves memory and intellect. With the widespread traditional use as well as scientific validation of bacopa monnieri for nootropic activity, a bioactive-rich unique phytochemical composition-bacomind^TM was developed from b. monnieri for use as a cognition and memory enhancing agent. The present study aimed to investigate the in vitro toxicity of this formulation of bacomind^TM on human lymphocytes and to rule out its possible contribution to mutagenicity. Methods In the present investigation the active ingredients present in bM were identified and quantified by high performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） and high performance thin-layer chromatography （HPTLC）. Antioxidant and anticlastogenic properties of bM were studied in vitro with and without metabolic activation. Doses of bM were chosen on the basis of mitotic index （mi） and cytokinesis-block proliferation index （CbPI）. Clastogenicity assays were performed at 31.2 μg/mL, 62.5 μg/mL, and 125 μg/mL, while the Salmonella reverse mutation assay （Ames test） was performed at doses of 61.72, 185.18, 555.55, 1666.67, and 5000.00 μg/plate. Results HPLC and HPTLC analysis of bM revealed the presence of bacoside A3. bacopaside Ⅰ, bacopaside Ⅱ, jujubogenin isomer of bacopasaponin C, bacosine, luteolin, apigenin, bacosine, and β-sitosterol D glucoside. bM demonstrated significant antioxidant activity. The number of chromosomal aberrations and the frequency of micronuclei induced by bM were not statistically significant up to a dose of 62.5 μg/mL. Friction and sliding wear behaviour of Ti-b-N coatings against AISI440C steel ba ll and WC-6wt%Co ball were studied by using pin-on-disk tribometer along with mi crostructure characterization using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron m icroscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It is shown that the wear resistance of film depended on the wear mechanism. In the case of AISI440C steel, adhesive wear were pre-dominant and the wear rate increased sharply to a maximum when N content reach ~38at.%. This might be related to the change of fi lm microstructure and phase configuration, so the least adhesive transfer of tri bo-film was observed. If WC-6wt%Co ball was used, less deformation wear deb.is w as observed, this was responsible for the rise of wear rate. Despite of differen t wear modes, friction coefficients in both cases were found to depend mainly on the formation and the amount of h-bN phase. Elemental analysis by energy disper sive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed that oxygen participated in the wear behavior by reacting with films to form the deb.ris comprised of various types of Ti oxide including TiO, TiO2 and Ti2O3 , which increased wear resistance.

The aquatic ferns of the genus Azolla are nitrogen-fixing plants that have great potentials in agricultural production and environmental conservation. Azolla in many aspects is qualified to serve as a model organism for genomic studies because of its importance in agriculture, its unique position in plant evolution, its symbiotic relationship with the N2-fixing cyanobacterium, Anabaena azollae, and its moderate-sized genome. The goals of this genome project are not only to understand the biology of the Azolla genome to promote its applications in biological research and agriculture practice but also to gain critical insights about evolution of plant genomes. Together with the strategic and technical improvement as well as cost reduction of DNA sequencing, the deciphering of their genetic code is imminent.

目的评价CalliSpheres^(®)载药微球支气管动脉化疗栓塞术联合肋间动脉灌注化疗治疗顽固性非小细胞肺癌(NSCLC)性胸腔积液疗效及安全性。方法采用改良Seldinger技术经右侧股动脉插入动脉导管,用微导管超选插至患侧血供丰富的支气管动脉及肋间动脉,灌注化疗药物后使用CalliSpheres^(®)载药微球栓塞肿瘤供血血管17例,并与19例传统治疗方法比较。结果3个月后使用本法治疗的17例患者生活质量明显改善,治疗有效率明显高于使用传统化疗的患者,整体有效率达到了100%(疗效与传统方法比为100%比52.6%),中位疾病无进展期(mPFS)和总生存期(OS)高于使用传统化疗的患者(PFS为8.8个月比4.1个月,OS为13.4个月比7.0个月);该法不良反应轻微,所有患者均未出现严重并发症。结论该治疗方法效果明显,不良反应小,为治疗顽固性NSCLC性胸腔积液提供了一条新思路。
