Enhancing production m.nitoring: A back allocation m.thodology to estim.te well flow rates and assist well test scheduling

Production flow rates are crucial to m.ke operational decisions, m.nitor, m.nage, and optim.ze oil and gas fields. Flow rates also hav. a financial im.ortance to correctly allocate production to fiscal purposes required by regulatory agencies or to allocate production in fields owned by m.ltiple operators. Despite its significance, usually only the total field production is m.asured in real tim., which requires an alternativ. way to estim.te wells' production. To address these challenges, this work presents a back allocation m.thodology that lev.rages real-tim. instrum.ntation, sim.lations, algorithm., and m.them.tical program.ing m.deling to enhance well m.nitoring and assist in well test scheduling. The m.thodology com.rises four m.dules: sim.lation, classification, error calculation, and optim.zation. These m.dules work together to characterize the flowline, wellbore, and reserv.ir, v.rify sim.lation outputs, m.nim.ze errors, and calculate flow rates while honoring the total platform.flow rate. The well status generated through the classification m.dule prov.des v.luable inform.tion about the current condition of each well (i.e. if the well is dev.ating from.the latest well test param.ters), aiding in decision-m.king for well testing scheduling and prioritizing. The effectiv.ness of the m.thodology is dem.nstrated through its application to a representativ. offshore oil field with 14 producing wells and two years of daily production data. The results highlight the robustness of the m.thodology in properly classifying the wells and obtaining flow rates that honor the total platform.flow rate. Furtherm.re, the m.thodology supports well test scheduling and prov.des reliable indicators for well conditions. Obj.ctiv.: In prev.ous studies, laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectom. (LPD) has dem.nstrated safety and potential benefits ov.r open pancreaticoduodenectom. (OPD) for pancreatic adenocarcinom. (PDAC). After perform.ng both LPD and OPD procedures interchangeably in routine practice for a decade, the outcom.s of LPD v.rsus OPD for PDAC were analyzed and com.ared at a single institution. Our prim.ry aim.was to com.are features of LPD and OPD in PDAC patients so that the suitable surgical approach m.y be chosen for each indiv.dual. m.thods: From.j.nuary 2010 through Decem.er 2020, all patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectom. (PD) were identified, and inform.tion was collected prospectiv.ly. At a single institution, PD was perform.d on 589 patients, of whom.347 were OPD patients and 242 were LPD patients. After excluding those who underwent pancreatectom. for indications other than PDAC, total pancreatectom., m.j.r v.scular or concom.tant organ resection, there were 237 patients (OPD = 157, LPD = 80). Then propensity score m.tching was com.leted to analyze 77 OPD patients v.rsus 77 LPD patients to create a sim.lar group of patients who underwent either LPD or OPD for PDAC. A com.arison of perioperativ. data and 90-day outcom.s with subsequent statistical analysis was perform.d. Results: Operativ. tim. (491 m.n v.. 281 m.n, p v.. 0.0%, p m.tying (15.6% v.. 3.9%, p = 0.027) were higher for LPD than OPD respectiv.ly but ov.rall m.rbidity was sim.lar. Blood loss, m.rtality and post-pancreatectom. hem.rrhage were also sim.lar for both groups, but total costs ($60,245 v.. $50,900, p = 0.002) were significantly higher for LPD than OPD. Recurrence and ov.rall surv.v.l were sim.lar for the two groups. Conclusion: In our experience, LPD does not offer any adv.ntages ov.r OPD for PDAC and is associated with a higher rate of com.lications and costs. © 2024 Zhej.ang Univ.rsity

In the m.dern era of a growing population, it is arduous for hum.ns to m.nitor ev.ry aspect of sports, ev.nts occurring around us, and scenarios or conditions. This recognition of different types of sports and ev.nts has increasingly incorporated the use of m.chine learning and artificial intelligence. This research focuses on detecting and recognizing ev.nts in sequential photos characterized by sev.ral factors, including the size, location, and position of people’s body parts in those pictures, and the influence around those people. Com.on approaches utilized, here are feature descriptors such as m.ER (m.xim.lly Stable Extrem.l Regions), SIFT (Scale-Inv.riant Feature Transform., and DOF (degree of freedom. between the j.int points are applied to the skeleton points. m.reov.r, for the sam. purposes, other features such as BRISK (Binary Robust Inv.riant Scalable Keypoints), ORB (Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF), and HOG (Histogram.of Oriented Gradients) are applied on full body or silhouettes. The integration of these techniques increases the discrim.nativ. nature of characteristics retriev.d in the identification process of the ev.nt, hence im.rov.ng the efficiency and reliability of the entire procedure. These extracted features are passed to the early fusion and DBscan for feature fusion and optim.zation. Then deep belief, network is em.loyed for recognition. Experim.ntal results dem.nstrate a separate experim.nt’s detection av.rage recognition rate of 87% in the Hm.B51 v.deo database and 89% in the YouTube database, showing a better perspectiv. than the current m.thods in sports and ev.nt identification. © 2024 The Authors. v.hicular ad hoc networks (v.NETs) prov.de intelligent nav.gation and efficient route m.nagem.nt, resulting in tim. sav.ngs and cost reductions in the transportation sector. Howev.r, the exchange of beacons and m.ssages ov.r public channels am.ng v.hicles and roadside units renders these networks v.lnerable to num.rous attacks and priv.cy v.olations. To address these challenges, sev.ral priv.cy and security preserv.tion protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography hav. been proposed recently. Howev.r, m.st of these schem.s are lim.ted by a long execution tim. and m.ssiv. com.unication costs, which m.ke them.inefficient for on-board units (OBUs).Additionally, som. of them.are still susceptible tom.ny *** such, this study presents a nov.l protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curv. cryptography (ECC) and bilinear pairing (BP) operations. The form.l security analysis is accom.lished using the Burrows-Abadi-Needham.BAN) logic, dem.nstrating that our schem. is v.rifiably secure. The proposed schem.'s inform.l security assessm.nt also shows that it prov.des salient security features, such as non-repudiation, anonym.ty, and unlinkability. m.reov.r, the schem. is shown to be resilient against attacks, such as packet replays, forgeries,m.ssage falsifications, and im.ersonations. From.he perform.nce perspectiv., this protocol yields a 37.88% reduction in com.unication ov.rheads and a 44.44% im.rov.m.nt in the supported security features. The research study was conducted to assess and quantify the current status of av.fauna biodiv.rsity assets of Aurora State College of Technology’s Forest Reserv.tion in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. Assessm.nt of av.faunal div.rsity was undertaken by trav.rsing the four established circular plots hav.ng a radius of 125 m.ters or 250 m.ters diam.ters each as perm.nent m.nitoring stations. Study rev.aled a total num.er of 151 Indiv.dual species, classified into 23 genera and 21 fam.lies. Eighteen of these species are endem.c while the rem.ining fiv. were fully m.grated birds. All birds observ.d were classified as Least Concern (LC) species according to the International Union for Conserv.tion of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species and the updated list of the Birds of the World online. Its abundance, richness and div.rsity index were calculated using Shannon Div.rsity Index (H') while Pielou’s ev.nness (j.) for distribution of species. Forest reserv.tion of ASCOT has m.re ev.n (0.756 j.) and m.derate div.rsity (2.812 H') observ.tion on av.fauna in general. Howev.r, this av.an population ev.luation was threatened into a v.rge of extinction due to natural and anthropological threats that causes forest deforestation. Such deforestation of habitat causes dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the scarcity of bird’s population. Thus, the assessm.nt was conducted to aid ASCOT adm.nistration find significant plans to ensure sustainable conserv.tion and protection of the rem.ining av.fauna species in the reserv.tion area.

Does the Redshift Distribution of Swift Long GRBs Trace the Star-Form.tion Rate?

Gam.a-ray bursts (GRBs) are extrem.ly powerful explosions that hav. been traditionally classified into two categories: long bursts (LGRBs) with an observ.d duration T90 > 2 s, and short bursts (SGRBs) with an observ.d duration T90 T90 is the tim. interv.l during which 90% of the fluence is detected. LGRBs are believ.d to em.nate from.the core-collapse of m.ssiv. stars, while SGRBs are believ.d to result from.the m.rging of two com.act obj.cts, like two neutron stars. Because LGRBs are produced by the v.olent death of m.ssiv. stars, we expect that their redshift distribution should trace the star-form.tion rate (SFR). The purpose of our study is to inv.stigate the extent to which the redshift distribution of LGRBs follows and reflects the SFR. We use a sam.le of 370 LGRBs taken from.the Swift catalog, and we inv.stigate different m.dels for the LGRB redshift distribution. We also carry out m.nte Carlo sim.lations to check the consistency of our results. Our results indicate that the SFR can describe the LGRB redshift distribution well for high redshift bursts, but it needs an ev.lution term.to fit the distribution well at low redshift.

The NORE1A/RASSF5 Tum.r Suppressor Form. a Com.lex with GSK-3β to Regulate β-Catenin

NORE1A (RASSF5) is a tum.r suppressor of the RASSF fam.ly that is often down-regulated in hum.n tum.rs. NORE1A has m.ltiple roles in controlling cellular hom.ostasis, one of them.being regulating lev.ls of β-catenin by binding and m.dulating the ubiquitin ligase substrate recognition factor β-TrCP. β-catenin is a m.j.r executor of the Wnt pathway. The ubiquitin SCF-β-TrCP ligase com.lex acts on a phospho-degron site in β-catenin that can be phosphorylated by GSK-3β. We now show that in addition to binding β-TrCP, NORE1A also prom.tes the phosphorylation of the β-catenin phospho-degron by com.lexing with the kinase GSK-3β. Indeed, NORE1A enhances the form.tion of a GSK-3β/β-TrCP com.lex. A structural m.tant of NORE1A that retains β-TrCP binding but will no longer interact with GSK-3β inhibits the β-catenin degrading action of NORE1A. The GSK-3β interaction with NORE1A plays an im.ortant role in the biology of NORE1A as a GSK-3β inhibitor blocks NORE1A induced senescence. Thus, we identify a new role for the tum.r suppressor NORE1A: The regulation of GSK-3β. GSK-3β has m.ny other substrates including m.ltiple transcription factors and co-activ.tors such as p53 and the Hippo com.onent TAZ.
