The occurrence of antimicrobials in the aquatic environment and drinking water has raised the question of their impact on the environment and public health. Animal production is one of the most expressive activities of Brazilian agribusiness. In order to ensure the productivity and competitiveness of the sector, the use of drugs for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes is a common practice. Due to the continuous release of antimicrobials into the environment, the aim of this study was to compare the frequency of detection of tetracyclines and sulfonamides in surface water collected from rural areas in Lidice District of Rio Claro, in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. An investigative study was conducted with 24 river water samples analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry and the aim of this study was to determine residues of sulfonamides and tetracyclines based on the USEPA method 1694. The results indicated the presence of sulfamethoxazole and oxytetracycline concentrations at the ng·L-1 level. The applied method showed overall good performance with recoveries above 57%, method detection limits ≤ 7.17 ng·L-1, method quantification limits ≤ 23.90 ng·L-1 and good linearity.

A Modular Simulation Tool of an Orchestrator for Allocating Virtual Resources in SDN

SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) are technologies for enabling innovative network architectures. Nevertheless, a fundamental problem in instantiation of VNs (Virtual Networks), performed by NFV, is an optimal allocation of resources offered by one or more SDN domain networks. The process of instantiation of VNs is performed in several phases, including splitting and mapping algorithms. For each one of these phases, researchers have developed algorithms, being possible to obtain different results combining them. This paper introduces a modular and flexible graphical discrete event simulation tool for solving the complete virtual resource allocation in SDN domain networks problem. A Java-based tool has been developed to integrate existing and future algorithms related to each phase of the process. The simulator is a test-bed in which researchers can select the appropriate algorithm in each phase and display the results in a graphical form, while obtaining a performance evaluation of the selected and proposed algorithms.

基于有限元法,提出一个分析方法,可以计算纯畸变弹性屈曲荷载。计算中采用的有限元模型为非耦合屈曲变形模式。具体方法分为2步:第1步,采用一般梁理论(GBT)分析构件横截面,在此可以给有限元模型施加约束条件;第2步,对受约束有限元模型进行线性屈曲分析,确定纯畸变荷载。将此法应用于开口薄壁构件和冷弯构件,得到的畸变荷载非常准确,与一般梁理论和约束有限条法(cFSM)计算的荷载值一致。

A Novel Approach to Measure the Total Antioxidant Power of Wines through Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Its Relevance in Human Nutrition

Wine is the product of the alcoholic fermentation of the grape (Vitis vinifera). As such, it is a hydroalcoholic solution with a variable content of nutritional and functional (polyphenols) molecules, the latter involved in its antioxidant potential. The organoleptic variables of wine, together with its potential positive effects on health of a light-moderate intake, have always been topics of great interest within the cultures. In the label of wine, alcohol is the only declared variable. On the other hand, there is no information about the content of “positive” molecules, such as those associated with the antioxidant power. This value could be very important to classify the wines, helping oenologist and nutritionist in qualifying them as a component of Mediterranean diet. Moreover, one of the most critical aspects in evaluating the role of wine in human health through epidemiological prospective studies is the quality of the products used and their antioxidant potential. This research aimed to optimize and validate an analytical approach based on a portable device (SCIO?), using NIRS (near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy). It allows the measure of TAP (total antioxidant power) of wine through the glass. Research findings are promising. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that an easy-to-use and cheap hand-held scanner is validated to measure the TAP of a beverage.

对各种类型的铝试件进行疲劳试验以研究组合片材对破损和未破损铝试件的增强效果,探讨加工过程和试件尺寸对疲劳性能的影响。对破损和未破损试件进行修补,比较了其疲劳强度与普通铝S-N曲线上相对应的值。研究显示:黏合剂的抗剪强度对试件的疲劳性能影响很大,尤其在最高荷载水平时。通过准静态试验和相应的数学模型可以获得黏合剂抗剪强度。当黏合剂最大剪应力与抗剪强度近似相等时,可观察到疲劳荷载下试件的早期破坏,很显然后者对修复结构疲劳响应有很大的影响。

Purpose:Cytokines and other growth factors such as interleukins play an important role in the pathogenesis of proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR).Interindividual variations in cytokine production seem to correlate with some cytokine gene *** purpose of this study was to analyse the distribution of these cytokine gene variants in patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RD)with and without ***:Single nucleotide polymorphisms were analysed for five cytokines:tumour necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),transforming growth factor-β 1(TGF-β 1),interferon-γ(IFN-γ),interleukin-6(IL-6)and interleukin-10(IL-10).Patients were divided into two surgically treated groups of RD patients:group RD had 27 patients with RD,and group PVR had 31 patients with RD complicated by PVR.A control group was composed of 46 ethnically matched healthy ***:The genotype distribution of the TGF-β 1 codon 10 polymorphism differed between PVR and RD patients(p=0.018)and between PVR patients and controls in codon 25(p =0.011).There was a higher frequency of TGF-β 1 codon 10 allele T in PVR patients compared with RD patients(p=0.023).No statistically significant differences between groups were observed for the other polymorphisms ***:An association between the TGF-β 1 genetic profile and the development of PVR was detected in this *** studies are necessary to confirm this finding and to establish its clinical relevance.

Increased postoperative complications after protective ileostomy closure delay: An institutional study

AIM: To study the morbidity and complications as-sociated to ileostomy reversal in colorectal surgery pa-tients, and if these are related to the time of closure. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of 93 patients, who had undergone elective ileostomy closure between 2009 and 2013 was performed. Demographic, clinical and surgical variables were reviewed for analysis. All complications were recorded, and classified according to the Clavien-Dindo Classification. Statistical univariate and multivariate analysis was performed, setting a P value of 0.05 for ***: The patients had a mean age of 60.3 years, 58% male. The main procedure for ileostomy cre-ation was rectal cancer(56%), and 37% had received preoperative chemo-radiotherapy. The average delay from creation to closure of the ileostomy was 10.3 mo. Postoperative complications occurred in 40% of the pa-tients, with 1% mortality. The most frequent were ileus(13%) and wound infection(13%). Pseudomembra-nous colitis appeared in 4%. Increased postoperative complications were associated with delay in ileostomyclosure(P = 0.041). Male patients had more complica-tions(P = 0.042), mainly wound infections(P = 0.007). Pseudomembranous colitis was also associated with the delay in ileostomy closure(P = 0.003). End-to-end in-testinal anastomosis without resection was significantly associated with postoperative ileus(P = 0.037). CONCLUSION: Although closure of a protective il-eostomy is a fairly common surgical procedure, it has a high rate of complications, and this must be taken into account when the indication is made. The delay in stoma closure can increase the rate of complications in general, and specifically wound infections and colitis.
