Evaluation of pig oocyte in vitro maturation and fertilization using three gonadotropin-based hormonal compounds

Objective:To evaluate the effect of human chorionic gonadotropins(hCG)and equine chorionic gonadotropins(eCG)on in vitro gilt oocyte maturation and embryonic development,using frozen semen for ***:Two independent experiments(6 replicates each)were carried out to evaluate gilt oocyte maturation,and fertilization and embryonic development by using ovaries from a local ***,712 oocytes were randomly distributed in four-well dishes to receive Novormon(eCG 5.0 IU),PG600(eCG 5.0 IU and hCG 2.5 IU),Chorulon(hCG 5.0 IU),or no *** were incubated with 5%CO2,95%air and saturation humidity at 39℃for 44 *** of the oocytes to metaphaseⅡwas assessed by using the aceto-orcein *** addition,741 oocytes were used and randomly distributed in four-well dishes,and then oocyte maturation was carried out as mentioned,but matured oocytes were washed and placed in fertilization medium with frozen-thawed *** were co-incubated for 7 h,and then washed and placed in development medium,and incubated for further 7 days,at which time embryonic development was *** and embryo development media were not supplemented with the studied ***:Novormon(eCG)and PG600(eCG+hCG)treatments significantly improved the percentages of metaphaseⅡoocytes compared to the control group(P<0.05).Furthermore,a significant increase was also observed in the young blastocyst stage between the control group and the PG600 treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusions:Hormonal products Novormon(eCG)and PG600(eCG+hCG)can obtain the highest percentages of in vitro maturation in gilt oocytes;however,this effect is not transferred to fertilization rates.

Plumage brightness and uropygial gland secretions in barn swallows

The uropygial gland has been hypothesized to play a role in sexual signaling through a "make-up" function derived from the effects of secretions from the gland on the appearanee of the plumage and bare parts of the body. Here we show that plumage brightness of dorsal feathers of individual barn swallows Hirundo rustica was greater in mated than in unmated individuals. In addition, plumage brightness in creased with colony size. Furthermore, plumage bright ness was positively correlated with the amount of wax in the uropygial gland, negatively correlated with time of sampling of uropygial wax (perhaps because more wax is present early in the morning after an entire night of wax production without any preening), and negatively correlated with the number of chewing lice that degrade the plumage. Experimentally preventing barn swallows from access to the uropygial gland reduced plumage brightness, showing a causal link between secretions from the uropygial gland and plumage brightness. These findings provide evidence consistent with a role of uropygial secretions in signaling plumage brightness.

GBP-WAHSN:A Group-Based Protocol for Large Wireless Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

Grouping nodes gives better performance to the whole network by diminishing the average network delay and avoiding unnecessary message forwarding and additional overhead. Many routing protocols for ad-hoc and sensor networks have been designed but none of them are based on groups. In this paper, we will start defining group-based topologies, and then we will show how some wireless ad hoc sensor networks （WAHSN） routing protocols perform when the nodes are arranged in groups. In our proposal connections between groups are established as a function of the proximity of the nodes and the neighbor＇s available capacity （based on the node＇s energy）. We describe the architecture proposal, the messages that are needed for the proper operation and its mathematical description. We have also simulated how much time is needed to propagate information between groups. Finally, we will show a comparison with other architectures.

Nowadays,the anticipation of parking-space demand is an instrumental service in order to reduce traffic congestion levels in urban *** purpose of our work is to study,design and develop a parking-availability predictor that extracts the knowledge from human mobility data,based on the anonymized human displacements of an urban area,and also from weather *** of the existing solutions for this prediction take as contextual data the current road-traffic state defined at very high temporal or spatial ***,access to this type of fine-grained location data is usually quite limited due to several economic or privacy-related *** overcome this limitation,our proposal uses urban areas that are defined at very low spatial and temporal *** conducted several experiments using three Artificial Neural Networks:Multilayer Perceptron,Gated Recurrent Units and bidirectional Long Short Term Memory networks and we tested their suitability using different combinations of *** metrics are provided for the sake of comparison within our study and between other *** solution has been evaluated in a real-world testbed in the city of Murcia(Spain)integrating an open human-mobility dataset showing high accuracy.A MAPE between 4%and 10%was reported in horizons of 1 to 3 h.
