DC-DC converters are becoming more commonly used in power conversion solutions for energy management purposes,being employed in an ever-increasing range of DC-based applications,such as LED lighting,electric vehicles,energy storage solutions,and consumer electronics(laptops,smartphones,etc.).In this context,efficiency and reliability are *** research efforts made in improving reliability of DC-DC converters are still quite narrow and ***,DC-DC converters take the shape of an endless number of topologies,with different functionalities and operation principles,thus complicating the task of improving reliability of all forms of DC-DC ***,compiling the information about the main failure modes,corresponding fault diagnostic algorithms and fault tolerance strategies developed so far,in a single document,becomes increasingly ***,this paper presents an up-to-date review of the recent achievements attained regarding the improvement of availability and reliability of DC-DC converters.

Arecently published article described how a fertility center in the UnitedStates implemented air quality control to newly designed in vitro fertilization （IVF） laboratory.1 A highly-efficient air filtration was achieved by installing a centered system supplying filtered air to the IVF laboratory and related critical areas, combining air particulate and volatile organic compound （VOC） filtration. As a consequence, live birth rates were increased by improvements in air quality. This article highlights the key aspects of air contamination in the IVF context. The topic is important not only to IVF specialists but also to Andrologists due to the great number of male infertility patients referred to assisted reproductive technology （ART） treatments. The evidence is growing that laboratory air quality is paramount importance for improved IVF outcome.

In semiarid regions of the Mediterranean basin, a rainfall event can induce a respiratory pulse that releases a large amount of soil carbon dioxide （CO2） into the atmosphere; this pulse can significantly contribute to the annual ecosystem carbon （C） balance. The impacts of conventional tillage and two different cover crops, resident vegetation and Bromus catharticus L., on soil CO2 effiux were evaluated in a Vitis vinifera L. vineyard in La Rioja, Spain. Soil CO2 efflux, gravimetric water content, and temperature were monitored at a depth of 0-5 cm after rainfall precipitation events approximately every 10 d in the period from May 17 to July 27, 2012, during which the cover crops had withered. Additionally, on June 10, 2012, soil organic C, microbial biomass C, and I^-glucosidase activity were determined at soil depths of 0-2.5, 2.5-5, 5-15, and 15-25 cm. The results show that pulses of soil CO2 were related to the increase in soil water content following precipitation events. Compared to the conventional tillage treatment, both cover crop treatments had higher soil CO2 efflux after precipitation events. Both cover crop treatments had higher soil organic C, microbial biomass C, and β-glucosidase activity at the soil surface （0-2.5 cm） than the conventional tillage treatment. Each pulse of CO2 was related to the surface soil properties. Thus, this study suggests that the enhancement of soil organic C and microbiological properties at the soil surface under cover crops may increase soil CO2 efflux relative to conventional tillage immediately after precipitation events during the dry season.

The advent of synthetic biology has ushered in new applications of cell-free transcription-translation systems. These cell-free systems are reconstituted using cellular proteins, and are amenable to modular control of their composition. Here, we discuss the historical advance- ment of cell-free systems, as well as their new applications in the rapid design of synthetic genetic circuits and components, directed evolution ofbiomolecules, diagnosis of infectious diseases, and synthesis of vaccines. Finally, we present our vision on the future direction of cell-free synthetic biology.

The determination of optimal aerial transport networks and their associated flight frequencies is crucial for the strategic planning of airlines,as well as for carrying out market research,to establish target markets,and for aircraft and crew *** addition,optimum airplane types for the selected networks are crucial to improve revenue and to provide reduced operating *** present study proposes an innovative approach to determine the optimal aerial transport network simultaneously with the determination of the optimum fleet for that network,composed of three types of airplanes(network and vehicle integrated design).The network profit is *** passenger’s demands between the airports are determined via a gravitational *** embedded linear programming solution is responsible for obtaining potential optimal network *** optimum fleet combination is determined from a database of candidate aircraft designs via genetic algorithm.A truly realistic airplane representation is made possible thanks to accurate surrogate models for engine and aerodynamics is *** accurate engine deck encompassing a compression map and an innovative engine weight calculation besides an aerodynamical artificial neural network module enable a high degree of accuracy for the mission *** proposed methodology is applied to obtain the optimum network comprised of twenty main Brazilian airports and corresponding fleet.
