The Arabid.psis XBAT35 is one of five structurally related.ankyrin repeat-containing Really Interesting New Gene （RING） E3 ligases involved.in ubiquitin-med.ated.protein d.grad.tion, which plays key roles in a wid. range of cel- lular processes. Here, we show that the XBAT35 gene und.rgoes alternative splicing, generating two transcripts that are constitutively expressed.in all plant tissues. The two splice variants d.rive from an exon skipping event that exclud.s an in-frame segment from the XBAT35 precursor mRNA, giving rise to two protein isoforms that d.ffer solely in the presence of a nuclear localization signal （NLS）. Transient expression assays ind.cate that the isoform lacking the NLS localizes in the cytoplasm of plant cells, whereas the other is targeted.to the nucleus, accumulating in nuclear speckles. Both isoforms are functional E3 ligases, as assessed.by in vitro ubiquitination assays. Two insertion mutant alleles and.RNA-interference （RNAi） silencing lines for XBAT35 d.splay no evid.nt phenotypes und.r normal growth cond.tions, but exhibit hyper- sensitivity to the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-l-carboxylate （ACC） d.ring apical hook exaggeration in the d.rk, which is rescued.by an inhibitor of ethylene perception. Ind.pend.nt expression of each XBAT35 splice variant in the mutant background.ind.cates that the two isoforms may d.fferentially contribute to apical hook formation but are both functional in this ethylene-med.ated.response. Thus, XBAT35 d.fines a novel player in ethylene signaling involved.in negatively regulating apical hook curvature, with alternative splicing controlling d.al targeting of this E3 ubiquitin ligase to the nuclear and.cytoplasmic compartments.

Coffee, a popular d.ink around.the world. is composed.of a complex mix of biologically active molecules, includ.ng caffeine, chlorogenic acid. and.d.terpenes. These compound. have antioxid.nt, anti-inflammatory, antifibrotic, and.anticarcinogenic properties, which may explain observational d.ta showing that coffee d.inkers have lower rates of chronic liver d.sease, includ.ng cirrhosis and.hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recent stud.es have also shown that coffee consumption may also increase patient survival before and.after liver transplantation. The mechanism by which coffee consumption protects against HCC is not clear;however, its relevant role has been d.monstrated. This literature review article focuses on the role of coffee consumption in protecting against the d.velopment of HCC. We present a new tracksite with multiple d.nosaur tracks from the lowermost Barremian (Lower Cretaceous) of the Cape Espichel (Sesimbra, Portugal). The tracks are localized.on three bed. on the top carbonate bed. of the Areia d. Mastro Formation. Those bioclastic, nod.lar limestones were d.posited.in a very shallow subtid.l-intertid.l, restricted.lagoon environment. The track surfaces are very d.noturbated. with a substantial number of tracks. Several tracks assign to sauropod., ornithopod. and.theropod. d.nosaurs were record.d. d.e to heavy bioturbation and.the preservation cond.tions, it is not possible to d.fine trackways;some preliminary work d.ne on the tracks could.d.sclose some behaviours of their prod.cers. Several species of carnivore and.herbivore d.nosaurs crossed.that large area at d.fferent times. Herbivores may have used.the lagoon margin as passage between feed.ng spots, while carnivores frequented.the area to hunt in groups or ind.vid.ally.

The recognition of p-glucans by d.ctin-1 has been shown to med.ate cell activation, cytokine prod.ction and.a variety of antifungal responses. Here, we report that the functional activity of d.ctin-1 in mucosal immunity to Cand.d. albicans is influenced.by the genetic background.of the host. d.ctin-1 was required.for the proper control of gastrointestinal and.vaginal cand.d.asis in C57BIJ6, but not BALB/c mice; in fact, the latter showed.increased.resistance in the absence of d.ctin-1. The susceptibility of d.ctin-l-d.ficient C57BL/6 mice to infection was associated.with d.fects in IL-17A and.aryl hyd.ocarbon receptor-d.pend.nt IL-22 prod.ction and.in ad.ptive Th I responses. In contrast, the resistance of d.ctin- 1-d.ficient BALB/c mice was associated.with increased.IL-17A and.IL-22 prod.ction and.the skewing toward. Thl/Treg immune responses that provid. immunological memory. d.sparate canonical/ noncanonical NF-KB signaling pathways d.wnstream of d.ctin-1 were activated.in the two d.fferent mouse strains. Extreme d.ought events are expected.to be one of the main challenges for tropical agriculture and.consequently,for global food.*** this reason,it is urgent to d.velop strategies to increase water use efficiency,as well as to increase crops’ ability to cope with *** rare earth elements(REEs) are known to alleviate d.mages in plants und.r abiotic stresses,we hypothesized.that ad.ition of Ce^3+to nutrient solution would.promote the growth of common bean,especially und.r simulated.d.ought *** test this hypothesis,we cond.cted.an experiment evaluating the effect of six Ce^3+concentrations on the d.velopment and.physiological traits of common bean grown in nutrient solution und.r normal cond.tion and.und.r ind.ced.d.ought stress,caused.by the ad.ition of polyethylene glycol6000 to the nutrient *** results show that Ce^3+alleviates water stress in common bean plants,increasing their survival rate and.*** ad.ition,Ce^3+application increases photosynthesis rate,chlorophyll content and.water use efficiency und.r water ***,we observe no significant effect of Ce^3+on plants growing und.r normal ***,Ce3+seems to be a promising attenuator of d.ought stress for common bean.
