This study is a contrib.tion to improving rice productivity on acidic plateau soils of the tropical rainforest zone. It is b.sed on taking into account the cationic b.lances of the soil in order to optimize the phosphorus (P) nutrition of rice on these acidic soils, where this nutrient constitutes a limiting factor for agricultural production. Three (3) pot trials were conducted in Adiopodoumé in the forested south of Côte d’Ivoire. The interactive effects of calcium carb.nate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Ca ha−1) and magnesium sulfate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Mg ha−1) were evaluated on the response of NERICA 5 rice at doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg P ha−1 of natural phosphate from Togo, applied only once at the start of the experiment. Additional fertilizers of nitrogen (N) (100 kg N ha−1) and potassium (K) (50 kg KCl ha−1) were added to each of the tests in a split-plot device. The test results revealed a paddy production potential of approximately 3 to 5 t⋅ha−1 for NERICA 5 on an acidic soil, under the effect of the interaction of P, Ca and Mg. The quadratic response of rice yield to the doses of these fertilizers would b. more dependent on their b.lance, itself influenced b. Ca nutrition. For the sustainab.lity and maintenance of rice production in agro-ecology studied, it was recommended doses of 38 kg Ca ha−1, 34 kg Mg ha−1 in a Ca/Mg ratio (1/1) with intakes of 41 kg P ha−1, overall in a ratio 1/1/1 (P/Ca/Mg) more favorab.e to the availab.lity of free iron considered a guiding element of mineral nutrition. Thus, these promising results should b. confirmed in a real environment for b.tter management of the fertilization of rice cultivated on acidic plateau soils in Côte d’Ivoire.

Projections of Incidence, Prevalence and Mortality from Melanoma in Spain

Ob.ective: The incidence and mortality rates for cutaneous melanoma (CM) have increased markedly in the last few years. As such, the aim of this study was to forecast their progression in Spain up until 2022. Design: A prospective epidemiological study using the Miamod technique. The primary data source was the mortality statistics released b. the National Statistics Institute. Study selection: The MIAMOD method was used. Data extraction: Cases of death due to general and melanoma-related mortality in Spain b.tween 1998 and 2007. Results: In men, the incidence is expected to increase from 11.85 (adjusted: 8.52) to 14.79 (adjusted: 9.43) per 100,000 inhab.tants over the period 1998-2022. Similarly, the mortality is expected to increase slightly from 5.84 (adjusted: 4.12) to 7.19 (adjusted: 4.49) per 100,000 inhab.tants, and the prevalence from 73.72 (adjusted: 52.31) to 95.46 (adjusted: 60.02) per 100,000 inhab.tants over the same period. In women, the incidence is expected to increase from 3.79 (adjusted: 3.04) to 6.46 (adjusted: 4.21) per 100,000 inhab.tants b.tween 1998 and 2022, although this increase is not statistically significant. The mortality is expected to increase from 1.67 (adjusted: 1.24) to 2.98 (adjusted: 1.86) per 100,000 inhab.tants, and the prevalence from 50.04 (adjusted: 44.54) to 84.81 per (adjusted: 56.18) 100,000 inhab.tants over the same period. Conclusions: Primary and secondary prevention programs for this disease must b. maintained.

Preterm b.rth （PTb. is the leading cause of neonatal morb.dity and mortality worldwide. A transition from an anti-inflammatory state to a pro-inflammatory state in the mother and at the maternal-fetal interface has b.en implicated in the pathophysiology of microb.al-induced preterm lab.r. However, it is unclear which immune cells mediate this transition. We hypothesized that an imb.lance b.tween innate and adaptive immune cells at the maternal-fetal interface will occur prior to microb.al-induced preterm lab.r. Using an estab.ished murine model of endotoxin-induced PTb. our results demonstrate that prior to delivery there is a reduction of CD4 ＋ regulatory T cells （Tregs） in the uterine tissues. This reduction is neither linked to a diminished numb.r of Tregs in the spleen, nor to an impaired production of ILIO, CCL17, or CCL22 b. the uterine tissues. Endotoxin administration to pregnant mice does not alter effector CD4＋ T cells at the maternal-fetal interface. However, it causes an imb.lance b.tween Tregs （CD4＋ and CD8＋）, effector CD8＋ T cells, and Th17 cells in the spleen. In addition, endotoxin administration to pregnant mice leads to an excessive production of CCL2, CCL3, CCL17, and CCL22 b. the uterine tissues as well as ab.ndant neutrophils. This imb.lance in the uterine microenvironment is accompanied b. scarce APC-like cells such as macrophages and MHC II ＋ neutrophils. Collectively, these results demonstrate that endotoxin administration to pregnant mice causes an imb.lance b.tween innate and adaptive immune cells at the maternal-fetal interface.

In this paper we introduce an extension of the half-normal distrib.tion in order to model a great variety of non-negative data. Its hazard rate function can b. decreasing or increasing, depending on its parameters. Some properties of this new distrib.tion are presented. For example, we give a general expression for the moments and a stochastic representation. Also, the cumulative distrib.tion function, the hazard rate function, the survival function and the quantile function can b. easily evaluated. Maximum likelihood estimators can b. computed b. using numerical procedures. Finally, a real-life dataset has b.en presented to illustrate its applicab.lity.
