Tilted-pulse-front-pumping(TPFP) lithium-niobate terahertz(THz) pulse sources are widely used in pump-probe and control experiments since they can generate broadband THz pulses with tens of microjoules of energy. However, the conventional TPFP setup suffers from limitations, hindering the generation of THz pulses with peak electric field strength over 1 MV/***, a few setups were suggested to mitigate or even eliminate these limitations. In this paper, we shortly review the setups that are suitable for the generation of single-cycle THz pulses with up to a few tens of megavolts/centimeter focused electric field strength. The THz pulses available with the new layouts pave the way for previously unattainable applications that require extremely high electric field strength and pulse energy in the multi-millijoule range.

Intrauterine injection and zymography were used to investigate the effect of nitric oxide (nO) on embryo implantation in mice. On day 3, one uterine horn of female pregnant mice was injected intraluminally with various doses of nitric oxide synthase (nOS) inhibitor, n-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-nAME), while the contralateral horn served as control. Animals were sacrificed by cervical dislocation on day 7 of gestation, and the number of implanted embryos in each horn was calculated. The results showed that lower doses (0.05mg L-nAME) did not inhibit implantation significantly (P > 0.05), but high doses (0.2 mg L- nAME) resulted in a significant reduction in the number of implanted embryos (P nistration of SnP, a generator of nO, with L-nAME would reverse the anti-implantation effect of L-nAME. 目的:观察髓鞘相关生长抑制因子nogo-A及胰岛素样神经生长因子受体在脑缺血再灌注损伤大鼠脑组织区域的表达特点。方法:实验于2005-08/2006-04在青岛大学医学院附属医院脑血管病研究所进行。将80只成年健康雄性Wistar大鼠,采用双盲法随机分为正常对照组8只、假手术组8只、缺血再灌注组64只,缺血再灌注组分为2h、6h、12h、24h、48h、3d、7d、14d8个时间点,每个时间点8只,其中4只用于nogo-A检测,另外4只用于胰岛素样神经生长因子受体的检测。应用线栓法制备大鼠大脑中动脉缺血再灌注动物模型,假手术组不插尼龙线,正常对照组不做任何处理。采用免疫组织化学方法检测脑组织nogo-A与胰岛素样神经生长因子受体在神经细胞中的表达。结果:80只大鼠均进入结果分析。①nogo-A蛋白表达:正常对照组及假手术组皮质、海马及纹状体区凋亡细胞呈基础表达。缺血再灌注6～12h皮质区及纹状体区nogo-A表达达高峰,海马区表达明显增加。缺血再灌注24h均开始下降。缺血再灌注48h～3d皮质区及纹状体区均二次达高峰,海马区表达恒定。缺血再灌注7～14d均降至基础水平。缺血再灌注各组nogo-A蛋白表达均高于正常对照组及假手术组(Pnogo-A与胰岛素样神经生长因子受体表达均增加。胰岛素样生长因子受体表达增加与损伤程度呈正相关,脑轻度损伤时胰岛素样生长因子受体表达仅限于大脑皮质区,重度损伤时弥漫整个海马及纹状体区。

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) recognize specific motifs which are frequently present in bacteria, fungi, prokaryotes and viruses. Amongst TLRs, TLR9 can be activated by such bacterial or viral DnA fragments, immunoglobulin-DnA complexes or synthetic oligonucleotides, which all contain unmethylated cytosineguanine nucleotide sequences (CpGs). Emerging data indicate that TLR9 signaling has a role in, and may influence, colorectal carcinogenesis and colonic inflammation. CpGs are classified into three groups according to their influence on both the antigen-specific humoraland cellular immunity, and the production of type 1 interferons and proinflammatory cytokines. TLR9 activation via CpGs may serve as a new therapeutic target for several cancerous and various inflammatory conditions. Due to its probable anti-cancer effects, the application possibilities of TLR9-signaling modulation may be extremely diverse even in colorectal tumors. In this review we aimed to summarize the current knowledge about TLR-signaling in the pathogenesis and therapy of inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal cancer. Due to the species-specific differen.es in TLR9 expression, however, one must be careful in translating the animal model data into the human system, because of the differen.es between CpG-oligodeoxynucleotide-responsive cells. TLR9 agonist DnA-based immunomodulatory sequences could also represent a promising therapeutic alternative in systemic inflammatory conditions and chronic colonic inflammations as their side effects are not significant.

In this paper,Dy^(3+)incorporated BaSi_(2)O_(5)phosphors were synthesized by gel co mbustion method and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The effects of various heating rate s on thermoluminescence(TL)kinetics and glow peak temperatures of Dy^(3+)incorporated BaSi_(2)O_(5)phosphors exposed toβirradiation at room temperature were *** glow curves of the phosphor exposed toβ-irradiation(0.1-100 gy)consist of four main peaks located at 87,130,271,and 327℃and exhibit a good linearity between 0.1 and100 *** experimental techniques including variable heating rate(VHR),repeated initial rise(RIR),peak shape(PS)and computerized glow curve deconvolution(CGCD)were employed to determine TL kinetic *** findings indicate that the TL glow peaks of the phosphor obey first-order *** of the main dosimetric peaks through the techniques mentio ned above indicates that activation energies(E)and pre-exponential factor(s)are in the range of 0.80-1.50 eV and 1.15×10^(8)-3.28×10^(13)s^(-1).Additionally,it is found that the temperature of the glow peaks shifts toward the higher temperatures and the TL intensity smoothly decreases as the heating rate *** effect on the TL intensities and glow peak temperatu res of the heating rate is discussed in terms of thermal quenching.
