Deep learning based classification of sheep behaviour from accelerometer data with imbalance

Classification of sheep behaviour from a sequence of tri-axial accelerometer data has the potential to enhance sheep *** behaviour is inherently imbalanced(e.g.,more ruminating than walking)resulting in underperforming classification for the minority activities which hold *** works have not addressed class imbalance and use traditional machine learning techniques,e.g.,Random Forest(RF).We investigated Deep Learning(DL)models,namely,Long Short Term Memory(LSTM)and Bidirectional LSTM(BLSTM),appropriate for sequential data,from imbalanced *** data sets were collected in normal grazing conditions using jaw-mounted and earmounted *** to this study,alongside typical single classes,e.g.,walking,depending on the behaviours,data samples were labelled with compound classes,e.g.,walking_-*** number of steps a sheep performed in the observed 10 s time window was also recorded and incorporated in the *** designed several multi-class classification studies with imbalance being addressed using synthetic *** models achieved superior performance to traditional ML models,especially with augmented data(e.g.,4-Class+Steps:LSTM 88.0%,RF 82.5%).DL methods showed superior generalisability on unseen sheep(i.e.,F1-score:BLSTM 0.84,LSTM 0.83,RF 0.65).LSTM,BLSTM and RF achieved sub-millisecond average inference time,making them suitable for real-time *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of DL models for sheep behaviour classification in grazing *** results also demonstrate the DL techniques can generalise across different *** study presents a strong foundation of the development of such models for real-time animal monitoring.

This study reports on our systematic review of 2008–2021 literature on shadow *** present an overview of the shadow banking sector,wherein we discuss the definitions,evolution,functions,and specific activities that comprise *** conducted a bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer bibliometric tool on articles collected from the Scopus database,after which we conducted content analysis on top articles from leading sources,and identified four major streams of shadow banking ***,we identified gaps in the literature and proposed seven research questions to be addressed in future studies to advance knowledge of the shadow banking *** findings of this review may serve as a robust reference for scholars researching various aspects of shadow banking to develop our understanding of this sector.

Fatty acid synthase (FAS) is the key enzyme for de novo fatty acid synthesis and exists widely from bacteria to mammalian cells (Schweizer and Hofmann, 2004). It is involved in membrane organization, metabolism regulation, energy storage, and many other processes (Maier et al., 2010). The ataxia telangiectasia-mutated and Rad3-related kinase (ATR) is a master regulator of DNA damage response (DDR) and is highly conserved. ATR is activated by DNA double-strand breaks and various types of DNA replication stresses (Cortez et al., 2001). Recent researches have reported that FAS seems closely related to genome stability (Wu et al., 2016). It has been proved that palmitic acid, the product of FAS, can inhibit ATR phosphorylation and kinase activity in mouse fibroblast (Zeng et al., 2008). These studies suggest that there is a crosstalk between fatty acid metabolism and DDR pathway, but the mechanism remains unknown.

Spatiotemporal patterns and trends of community transmission of the pandemic COVID-19 in South Asia: Bangladesh as a case study

South Asian(SA)countries have been fighting with the pandemic novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)since January ***,the country-specific descriptive study has been ***,as transboundary infection,the border sharing,shared cultural and behavioral practice,effects on the temporal and spatial distribution of COVID-19 in SA is still ***,this study has been revealed the spatial hotspot along with descriptive output on different parameters of COVID-19 *** extracted data from theWHO and the worldometer database from the onset of the outbreak up to 15 May,*** has the highest case fatality rate(CFR,9.22%),whereas Oceania has the highest(91.15%)recovery rate from *** SA countries,India has the highest number of cases(85,790),followed by Pakistan(38,799)and Bangladesh(20,065).However,the number of tests conducted was minimum in this region in comparison with other *** highest CFR was recorded in India(3.21%)among SA countries,whereas Nepal and Bhutan had no death record due to COVID-19 so *** recovery rate varies from 4.75%in the Maldives to 51.02%in Sri *** Bangladesh,community transmission has been recorded,and the highest number of cases were detected in Dhaka,followed by Narayanganj and *** detected Dhaka and its surrounding six districts,namely Gazipur,Narsingdi,Narayanganj,Munshiganj,Manikganj,and Shariatpur,as the 99%confidence-based hotspot where Faridpur and Madaripur district as the 95%confidence-based spatial hotspots of COVID-19 in ***,we did not find any cold spots in *** identified three hotspots and three cold spots at different confidence levels in *** from this study suggested the“Test,Trace,and Isolation”approach for earlier detection of infection to prevent further community transmission of COVID-19.

In this paper,we propose a photonic crystal fiber(PCF)polarization filter based on surface plasmon resonance(SPR)*** nanowire is used as the active plasmonic *** into silica core becomes coupled to gold nanowire stimulating SPR. It soplits light into two orthogonal(x-polarization and y-polarization)polarization in the second order of surface plasmon *** investigations of the proposed PCF filter is finite element method(FEM).By position,the performance of the propsed PCF filter is inspected *** of any polarization can be obtained by properly placing the metal *** maximum cnfinement loss of x-polarization is 692.25dB/cm and y-polarization is 1.13dB/cm offers at resonance position 1.42μ*** a confinement loss difference between two orthogonal polarizations makes PCF a talented candidate to filter ***,the recommended PCF structure is useful for polarization device.

Isolated Endophytic Fungi from the Plant <i>Curcuma longa</i>and Their Potential Bioactivity—A Review

Endophytes (both fungi and bacteria) represent a treasure house for bioactive compounds such as anticancer, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antiparasitic, insecticidal etc. for use in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. Endophytic population is greatly influenced by climatic conditions and location where the host plant grows. Curcuma longa L. (Turmeric) is a medicinal plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family that is usually used as spice and preservative. Traditionally it is used to treat various conditions and symptoms such as digestive disorders, arthritis, cardiovascular conditions, cancer, bacterial infections etc. In recent times, there have been different discoveries on endophytic fungi and their biological activity from C. longa. But there is no comprehensive review on endophytic fungi of C. longa. The aim of this review is to analyze the published report based on the endophytic fungi to provide for the first time an updated information about their isolation from different tissues, their biological activities including the phytochemistry of C. longa. This will lead the way to forecast the missing link for future research work.

Role of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Treatment of Cervical Cancer: A Case Series of Thirty-Eight Patients Treated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy of women in Bangladesh. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment of patients with early invasive cancer confined to cervix. While the five-year survival rate after surgery for stage IB1 disease exceeds 90%, it is only 60% - 70% for stage IB2 and IIA2 (tumor size > 4 cm). To improve the outcome of treatment, two to three cycles of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT) has been evaluated as a treatment strategy in stage IB2 and IIA2 diseases. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) followed by Radical Surgery (RS) among the patients with early bulky cervical cancer (Stage IB2 & IIA2) to reduce the tumor size to achieve radical resectibility. Methods: This study was carried out at the Gynaecological Oncology Division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) during the period July 2015 to December 2015. Thirty-eight patients with early bulky cervical cancer without any prior medical or surgical treatment received NACT using intravenous paclitaxel 175 mg/m2 and cisplatin 75 mg/m2 followed by radical surgery. The primary outcome measure assessed the response to NACT to reduce the size of the tumor. Secondary outcome measures assessed the resectibility of tumor and compared the preoperative clinical stage to the postoperative pathological stage. This study also assessed the relationship of intraoperative and postoperative complications including the adverse effects of postoperative radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy. Results: Clinical response to NACT was 94.7% (84.2% complete response + 10.5% partial response). Progressive disease was found in two cases (5.3%). Duration of surgery was less than 2 hours in 81.6% cases and greater than 3 hours in 13.2% cases only. All women lived 5 to 10 hours away from Dhaka and could not return for in person follow-up.
