Wettability regulation from superhydrophilic to superhydrophobic via nanosecond laser ablation

Metal surfaces play a crucial role in numerous applications,from self-cleaning and anti-icing to anti-fogging and oil-water *** regulation of their wettability is essential to enhance their performance in these *** paper proposes a multi-state regulation method for metal surface wettability,leveraging nanosecond laser *** creating non-uniform microstructures on a metal surface,the contact area between the solid and liquid phases can be increased,resulting in the attainment of superhydrophilic properties(contact angle(CA),ranging from 4.6°to 8.5°).Conversely,the construction of uniform microstructures leads to a decreased solid-liquid contact area,thereby rendering the metal surface hydrophilic(CA=12.2°–53.).Furthermore,through heat treatment on a surface with uniform microstructures,organic matter adsorption can be promoted while simultaneously reducing surface *** process results in the metal surface acquiring hydrophobic properties(CA=92.1°–13..5°),facilitated by the“air cushion effect.”Building on the hydrophobic surface,stearic acid modification can further reduce surface energy,ultimately bestowing the metal surface with superhydrophobic properties(CA=150.1°–152.7°,and sliding angle=3.8°).Performance testing has validated the durability and self-cleaning effectiveness of the fabricated superhydrophobic surface while also highlighting the excellent anti-fog performance of the superhydrophilic *** findings strongly indicate the immense potential of these surfaces in various engineering applications.

Hydrochemical Characteristics and Evolution of Underground Brine in Lop Nur,Northwestern China

Lop Nur is located at the eastmost end of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang,Northwestern *** study reviews the hydrochemical characteristics and evolution of underground brine in Lop Nur,based on analytical data from 429 water samples(mainly brine).It is found that in the NE-SW direction,from the periphery to the Luobei sub-depression,while the hydrochemical type varies from the sodium sulfate subtype(S)to the magnesium sulfate subtype(M),the corresponding brine in the phase diagram transfers from the thenardite phase(Then)area,through the bloedite phase(Blo),epsomite phase(Eps),picromerite phase(Picro),finally reaching the sylvite phase(Syl)*** for the degree of evolution,the sequence is the periphery

Energy storage systems(ESS)and permanent magnet synchronous generators(PMSG)are speculated to be able to exhibit frequency regulation capabilities by adding differential and proportional control loops with different control *** available PMSG kinetic energy and charging/discharging capacities of the ESS were *** improve the inertia response and frequency control capability,we propose a short-term frequency support strategy for the ESS and *** this end,the weights were embedded in the control loops to adjust the participation of the differential and proportional controls based on the system frequency *** effectiveness of the proposed control strategy was verified using PSCAD/*** simulations revealed that the proposed strategy could improve the maximum rate of change of the frequency nadir and maximum frequency ***,it provides a promising solution of ancillary services for frequency regulation of PMSG and ESS.

Drilling-based measuring method for the c-φ parameter of rock and its field application

The technology of drilling tests makes it possible to obtain the strength parameter of rock accurately in situ. In this paper, a new rock cutting analysis model that considers the influence of the rock crushing zone(RCZ) is built. The formula for an ultimate cutting force is established based on the limit equilibrium principle. The relationship between digital drilling parameters(DDP) and the c-φ parameter(DDP-cφ formula, where c refers to the cohesion and φ refers to the internal friction angle) is derived, and the response of drilling parameters and cutting ratio to the strength parameters is analyzed. The drillingbased measuring method for the c-φ parameter of rock is constructed. The laboratory verification test is then completed, and the difference in results between the drilling test and the compression test is less than 6%. On this basis, in-situ rock drilling tests in a traffic tunnel and a coal mine roadway are carried out, and the strength parameters of the surrounding rock are effectively tested. The average difference ratio of the results is less than 11%, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method for obtaining the strength parameters based on digital drilling. This study provides methodological support for field testing of rock strength parameters.

Stretchable and environment-resistant doubly crosslinked hydrogel for all-in-one supercapacitor and strain sensors

Despite their importance as components for flexible electronics,most stretchable hydrogels suffer from incomplete recovery after deformation,are prone to failure upon long-term repeated stretching,and cannot be exploited at subzero temperatures because of the freezing of their constituent ***-quently,strategies for circumventing these drawbacks are highly sought *** study describes the synthesis of a doubly(chemically and physically)crosslinked hydrogel from gelatin and methacrylic acid and demonstrates the suitability of this material for the fabrication of high-performance stretchable and environment-resistant supercapacitors and strain *** performance of this supercapacitor(areal capacitance=1,210.2 mF/cm^(2) at a current density of 1 mA/cm^(2),maximum energy density=158.8μW.h/cm^(-1),maximum power density=659.5μW/cm^(2))was superior to that of most of integrated super-capacitors reported to date and was hardly affected by stretchable,low temperatures,bending,ice-cold water and strong acid/alkali solutions or long-term ***,a strain sensor based on the above hydrogel was capable of accurately capturing human body motions when affixed to skin and recognising mouse movement(even in humid environments)after implantation into mouse *** work may pave the way to high-performance stretchable and environment-resistant wearable electronics.

Testing method of rock structural plane using digital drilling

The rock mass consists of rock blocks and structural planes,which can reduce its integrity and ***,accurately obtaining the characteristics of the rock mass structural plane is a prerequisite for evaluating stability and designing supports in underground ***,there are no effective testing methods for the characteristic parameters of the rock mass structural plane in underground *** paper presents the digital drilling technology as a new testing method of rock mass structural *** rock specimens with cracks of varying widths and angles were used to simulate the rock mass structural planes,and the multifunctional rock mass digital drilling test system was employed to carry out the digital drilling *** analysis focuses on the variation laws of drilling parameters,such as drilling pressure and drilling torque,affected by the characteristics of prefabricated cracks,and clarifies the degradation mechanism of rock equivalent compressive ***,an identification model for the characteristic parameters of rock mass structural planes during drilling is *** test results indicate that the average difference of the characteristics of prefabricated cracks identified by the equivalent compressive strength is 2.45°and 0.82 mm,*** identification model while drilling is verified to be correct due to the high identification *** on this,a method for testing the characteristic parameters of the surrounding rock structural plane while drilling is *** research offers a theoretical and methodological foundation for precise in situ identification of structural planes of the surrounding rock in underground engineering.

Editing function of type Ⅱ thioesterases in the biosynthesis of fungal polyketides

Polyketide synthases(PKSs)are megasynthases with multiple autonomously folding domains,which operate cooperatively in the PKS assemblies to synthesize specific polyketide *** nonreactive intermediates tethered to acyl carrier protein(ACP)domain in the PKS will block the elongation process of polyketide *** this study,we systematically elucidate the editing function of fungal typeⅡthioesterases(TEIIs)to hydrolyze ACP domain-bounded nonreactive acyl groups,which are uploaded by substrate promiscuous fungal phosphopantetheinyl ***,the TEIIs encoded in gene clusters of nonreducing PKS with reductase domain exhibit universal editing ***,editing function was also found for TEIIs encoded in gene clusters of highly-reducing PKS with condensation ***,the editing TEIIs with function of recovery PKS are applied to improve the yield of the fungal polyketides in *** study provides valuable insights into the editing process of fungal PKSs,highlights the crucial role of TEIIs in enhancing polyketide production and introduces a novel metabolic engineering strategy for fungal polyketide biosynthesis by leveraging the editing function of TEIIs.

Despite sufficient studies performed in non-primate animal models,there exists scanty information obtained from pilot trials in non-human primate animal models,severely hindering nanomaterials moving from basic research into clinical *** herein present a pioneering demonstration of nanomaterials based optical imaging-guided surgical operation by using macaques as a typical kind of non-human primate-animal ***,taking advantages of strong and stable fluorescence of the small-sized(diameter:~5 nm)silicon-based nanoparticles(SiNPs),lymphatic drainage patterns can be vividly visualized in a real-time manner,and lymph nodes(LN)are able to be sensitively detected and precisely excised from small animal models(e.g.,rats and rabbits)to non-human primate animal models(e.g.,cynomolgus macaque(Macaca fascicularis)and rhesus macaque(Macaca mulatta)).Compared to clinically used invisible near-infrared(NIR)lymphatic tracers(i.e.,indocyanine green(ICG);etc.),we fully indicate that the SiNPs feature unique advantages for naked-eye visible fluorescence-guided surgical operation in long-term *** toxicological analysis in macaque models further provides confirming evidence of favorable biocompatibility of the SiNPs *** expect that our findings would facilitate the translation of nanomaterials from the laboratory to the clinic,especially in the field of cancer treatment.
