Quantitative Investigation on Structural Evolution of Co-continuous Phase under Shear Flow

Components of co-continuous phase can form an interpenetrating network structure,which has great potential to synergistically improve the mechanical properties of the blends,and to impart the functional blends superior electrical conductivity and *** this work,the effects of shear rates(50-5000 s^(-1))at different temperatures on the phase morphology,phase size and lamellar crystallites of biodegradable co-continuous polybutylene terephthalate(PBAT)/polybutylene succinate(PBS)blend are quantitatively *** results show that the above features of the PBAT/PBS have a strong dependence on the shear flow and thermal *** co-continuous phase of the blend is well maintained at 130℃.Interestingly,this phase structure transforms into a“sea-island”structure at 160℃,which gradually recovers to a co-continuous phase when the shear rate increases from 1000 s^(-1) to 5000 s^(-1).The phase size decreases with the increase of shear rate both at 130℃ and 160℃ due to the refinement and deformation of phase structures caused by strong shear ***,a unique phenomenon is observed that the shear-induced lamellar crystallites are oriented perpendicular to shear direction in the range of 500-5000 s^(-1) at 130℃,while the orientation of lamellar crystallites at 160℃ is along the shear direction within the whole range of shear *** degree of orientation for the PBAT/PBS blend crystals increases first and then decreases at both temperatures *** addition,the range of shear rate has reached the level in the industrial ***,this work has important guiding significance for the regulation of the co-continuous phase structure and the performance for the blend in the practical processing.

Association between coronary artery calcification and cognitive function in a Chinese community-based population

Background Coronary atherosclerosis and cognitive impairment are both age-related diseases,with similar risk *** artery calcium(CAC),a marker of coronary atherosclerosis,may play a role in early detection of individuals prone to cognitive *** study aimed to investigate the relationship between CAC and cognitive function,and the capability of CAC to identify participants with a high risk of dementia in a Chinese community-based *** A total of 1332 participants,aged 40-80 years and free of dementia from a community located in Beijing were *** participants completed neurocognitive questionnaires and noncontrast CT *** performance tests(including verbal memory,semantic fluency,executive function,and global cognitive function tests),the Cardiovascular Risk Factors,Aging,and Incidence of Dementia(CIDE)risk score,and the CAC score(CACS)were evaluated by questionnaires and CT.A CAIDE score≥10 was considered to indicate a high risk of dementia in *** were divided into three groups according to CACS(0,1-399,≥400).Results After adjusting for risk factors,CACS was significantly associated with verbal memory(r=-0.083,P=0.003)and global cognitive function(r=-0.070,P=0.012).The prevalence of a high risk of dementia in the subgroups of CACS=0,1-399,and≥400 was 4.67%,13.66%,and 24.79%,respectively(P<0.001).Individuals with CACS≥400 had a higher risk of CAIDE score≥10[OR=2.30(1.56,4.56),P=0.014]than those with CACS=*** receiver-operating characteristic curves showed that the capability of CACS to identify participants with a high risk of dementia was moderate(AUC=0.70,95%CI:0.67-0.72,P<0.001).Conclusions CAC,a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis,was significantly associated with cognitive performance in verbal memory and global cognitive *** had a moderate capability to identify participants with a high risk of dementia,independent of age,education,and other risk factors.

Expression of CC Chemokine Ligand 5 in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Its Correlation with Disease Activity and Medication

Objective To determine the levels of CC chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5) in serum and synovial fluid (SF) from patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their relations with disease activity and medication. Methods CCL5 in serum and SF was quantified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 28 RA patients and 21 osteoarthritis (OA) patients. In RA patients, the correlations of CCL5 levels in serum and SF with disease activity were analyzed. Meanwhile, the serum CCL5 levels among RA patients treated with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), Tripterygium Glucosides, and other Chinese herbs without disease-modifying effects were also compared. Results CCL5 levels in both serum and SF of RA patients were significantly higher than those of OA patients (P<0.05). Moreover, the level of CCL5 was higher in SF than that in serum of RA patients (P<0.01). Serum CCL5 level was correlated significantly with the number of swollen joints (r=0.3329, P<0.05), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (r=0.4001, P<0.05), and C reactive protein (r=0.3735, P<0.01). In addition, the level of CCL5 had a trend of lower in patients treated with DMARDs or Tripterygium Glucosides than those treated with other Chinese herbs, although the difference was not significant among those patients due to the small number of patients in each group. Conclusions In RA patients, the expression of CCL5 increases and correlates with some clinical and laboratory parameters of RA, which indicate that CCL5 plays an important role in RA and may serve as a useful marker of disease activity. DMARDs and Tripterygium Glucosides might exert their clinical effects through reducing CCL5 production in RA.

High-dense nanocrystalline W-based alloy prepared by hot isostatic pressing with uniform microstructure, ultrahigh hardness and good thermal stability

High-density uniform microstructure nanocrystalline W-10wt.% Cr-5wt.% Y（W-10Cr-5Y） alloy with an average grain size of 85 nm and a relative density of 99.8% was successfully prepared.W-Cr-Y alloys with different amounts of second-phase particles were prepared by high-energy ball milling and hot isostatic pressing *** effects of composition design,ball milling parameters,and sintering parameters on the microstructure of W-Cr-Y alloys were studied.A feasible technology for controlling the synthesis of high-density nanocrystalline W-based alloys has been *** microstructure analysis of nanocrystalline W-10Cr-5Y alloy shows that there are two types of doping in the second phase:intergranular doping and intragranular *** "uniform distribution YOx-rich particles" effectively suppresses the grain growth of W and leads to the formation of nanocrystalline W-10Cr-5Y alloy.W-10Cr-5Y has an ultra-high hardness,with a Vickers hardness of 1312±12 kgf·***-temperature annealing treatment shows that W-10Cr-5Y has good thermal stability at 1000 and1100℃,as demonstrated by the comparison of Vickers hardness and grain size between annealed and unannealed alloys.

Background The incidence of coronary heart disease （CHD） is higher in Northern than that in Southern China, however differences in traditional CHD risk factors do not fully explain this. No study has examined the differences in subclinical atherosclerosis that may help explain the differences in incidence. This study examined these differences in subclinical atherosclerosis using coronary computed tomography （CT） for calcification between the Northern and Southern China. Methods We selected a random sample of participants in a large multi-center ongoing epidemiologic study for coronary calcium scanning in one northern city （North）（Beijing, n = 49） and in two southern cities （South）（Shanghai, n = 50, and Guangzhou, n = 50）. Participants from the three field centers （mean age 67 years） underwent coronary risk factor evaluation and cardiac CT scanning for coronary calcium measurement using the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis scanning protocol. Results Adjusted log-transformed coronary artery calcium score in North China （Beijing） was 3.1 ±0.4 and in South China （Shanghai and Guangzhou） was 2.2 ＋_ 0.3 （P = 0.04）. Mean calcium score for the northern city of Beijing was three times higher than that of the southern city of Guangzhou （P = 0.01） and 2.5 times higher than for the southern city of Shanghai （P = 0.03）. Conclusions The extent of subclinical atherosclerosis is significantly higher in the northern city of Beijing than that in the two southern cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai, even after adjusting for standard cardiac risk factors. This finding suggests that standard risk factors do not fully explain north south differences in clinical CHD incidence.

Constructing quasi-2D perovskite to collect hot carriers to reduce open-circuit voltage loss for efficient inverted perovskite solar cells

Inverted perovskite solar cells （PSCs） have received great attention owing to the high certificated power conversion efficiency（PCE） reaching 26.7%. However, interfacial charge recombination is far superior to perovskite bulk charge recombination due to the use of fullerenes and their derivatives in inverted perovskite solar cells, which induces devastating open circuit voltage（VOC） losses. For this reason the present work attempts to use 4-chloropiperidine hydrochloride for the upper surface modification of perovskite to construct a quasi-two-dimensional （2D） structure with suitable 2D layer widths （n=2, 3 dominant）,which has a smaller electron carrier transport barrier without sacrificing short-circuit current （JSC） in the device. This strategy effectively passivates the interfacial defect states while promoting energy level alignment to achieve carrier dissociation and equilibrium transport at the interface, which in turn resulted in improved fill factor （FF）. In addition, additional energy levels are provided by 2D perovskites to collect hot carriers, resulting in improved device open circuit voltage （VOC）. As a result, the device PCE increases from 22.37%to 24.11%after the 4CPD treatment. In addition, the 4CPD-treated PSCs maintain 90%of the initial PCE after storage in an N2atmosphere at 50°C for 1,080 h, whereas the control devices show a 15%PCE loss under the same aging conditions. This work provides new opportunities to suppress interfacial charge recombination in inverted devices.

Observation of acoustic hybrid topological phases induced by the p-d orbital interactions

In spinless systems,growing attention has recently been attracted to synthetic gauge fields,which redefine the fundamental crystal symmetries by utilizing the projective algebraic ***,synthetic gauge fields have been commonly investigated in single orbital systems,and explorations on hybrid orbitals remain elusive in ***,we report the experimental observation of hybrid topological phases induced by hybrid synthetic gauge flux,which is formed by the interaction between p and d orbitals embedded in acoustic *** breaking the translation symmetries of Lxand/or Ly,we unambiguously demonstrate the first-order M?bius edge states and higher-order corner *** work establishes a platform for seeking exotic topological phases induced by hybrid-orbitals interactions and initializing the framework of hybrid-orbitalsrelated topological *** applications can be anticipated in scenarios such as high-quality sensing and robust wave trapping due to the stepwise energy distribution of the hybrid topological phase.

Sky location of massive black hole binaries in the foreground of Galactic white dwarf binaries

For space-based gravitational wave （GW） detection,the main noise source for massive black hole binaries （MBHBs） is attributed to approximately 10～7double white dwarf binaries in the *** a GW source,the amplitude of the detector response,recorded by a space-based gravitational wave detector,exhibits a modulation effect with a year period when observing the source from various orbital *** the adverse conditions mentioned above,where there is a strong foreground noise and annual modulation in the signals,we employed the wavelet transform and the strong-amplitude relevant orbital position search methods,which allows the weak MBHB sources to achieve higher locating *** detail,for two MBHB sources of lower intensity,the precision of luminosity distance,represented by the ratio ?DL/DLat the 95%confidence level,is enhanced by factors of ～*** angular resolutions,denoted by??s,are enhanced by a factor of ～*** improvements increase the number of detectable GW sources,facilitate multi-messenger follow-up observations and provide constraints on the cosmological constant.

Bioinspired Passive Tactile Sensors Enabled by Reversible Polarization of Conjugated Polymers

Tactile perception plays a vital role for the human body and is also highly desired for smart prosthesis and advanced *** to active sensing devices,passive piezoelectric and triboelectric tactile sensors consume less power,but lack the capability to resolve static ***,we address this issue by utilizing the unique polarization chemistry of conjugated polymers for the first time and propose a new type of bioinspired,passive,and bio-friendly tactile sensors for resolving both static and dynamic ***,to emulate the polarization process of natural sensory cells,conjugated polymers(including poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophen e):poly(styrenesulfonate),polyaniline,or polypyrrole)are controllably polarized into two opposite states to create artificial potential *** controllable and reversible polarization process of the conjugated polymers is fully in situ ***,a micro-structured ionic electrolyte is employed to imitate the natural ion channels and to encode external touch stimulations into the variation in potential difference *** with the currently existing tactile sensing devices,the developed tactile sensors feature distinct characteristics including fully organic composition,high sensitivity(up to 773 mV N^(−1)),ultralow power consumption(nW),as well as superior *** demonstrations,both single point tactile perception(surface texture perception and material property perception)and two-dimensional tactile recognitions(shape or profile perception)with high accuracy are successfully realized using self-defined machine learning *** tactile sensing concept innovation based on the polarization chemistry of conjugated polymers opens up a new path to create robotic tactile sensors and prosthetic electronic skins.
