Estimating light interception using the color attributes of digital images of cotton canopies

Crop growth and yield depend on canopy light interception （li）. To identify a low-cost and relatively efficient index for measuring li, several color attributes of red-green-blue （RGB）, hue-saturation-intensity （HSI）, hue-saturation-value （HSV） color models and the component values of color attributes in the RGB color model were investigated using digital images at six cotton plant population densities in 2012-2014. The results showed that the li values followed downward quadratic curves after planting. The red （R）, green （G） and blue （B） values varied greatly over the years, in accordance with Cai＇s research demonstrating that the RGB model is affected by outside light. Quadratic curves were fit to these color attributes at six plant population densities. Additionally, linear regressions of li on every color attribute revealed that the hue （H） values in HSI and HSV were significantly linearly correlated with li with a determination coefficient （R2）〉0.89 and a root mean square error （RMSE）=0.05. Thus, the H values in the HSI and HSV models could be used to measure li, and this hypothesis was validated. The H values are new indexes for quantitatively estimating the li of heterogeneous crop cano- pies, which will provide a theoretical basis for optimizing the crop canopy structure. However, further research should be conducted in other crops and under other growing and environmental conditions to verify this finding.

BACKGROUND： Portal vein thrombosis （PVT） is one of the main vascular complications after liver transplantation （LT）, especially in pediatric patients with biliary atresia （BA）. This study aimed to assess the preoperative hepatic hemodynamics in pediatric patients with BA using Doppler ultrasound and determine whether ultrasonographic parameters may predict early PVT after ***： One hundred and twenty-eight pediatric patients with BA younger than 3 years of age underwent Doppler ultra- sound within seven days before LT, between October 2006 and June 2013. The preoperative hepatic hemodynamic parameters were then compared between patients with early PVT （within 1 month following LT） and those without PVT. Receiver oper- ating characteristic analysis was performed to determine the optimal cutoff value for predicting early PVT. RESULTS： Of the 128 transplant recipients, 41 （32.03%） had a hypoplastic portal vein （PV）, 52 （40.63%） had hepatofugal PV flow and 40 （31.25%） had a high hepatic artery resistance index （HARI） of 〉1. Nine cases （7.03%） experienced early PVT. A PV diameter 〈4 mm （sensitivity 88.89%, specificity 72.27%）, and a hepatofugal PV flow （sensitivity 77.78%, specificity 62.18%） with a high HARI ≥1 （sensitivity 77.78%, specificity 72.27%） were hepatic hemodynamic risk factors for early PVT.（ CONCLUSIONS： Hepatic hemodynamic disturbances in pediatric recipients with BA were more common. Small PV diameter （≤4 mm） and hepatofugal PV flow combined with high HARI （≥1） are strong warning signs of early PVT after LT in pediatric patients with BA. Intense monitoring of vascular patency and prophylactic thrombolytic therapy should be considered in pediatric patients undergoing LT for BA.

The targeted construction of donor-acceptor(D-A)materials featuring efficient photothermal(PT)conversion properties has been an attractive but challenging ***,a new series of coordination polymers(CPs)featuring different PT performances were constructed with flexible linker 1,1′-Ferrocenedicarboxylic acid(FCA)and 2,4,6-tri(pyridin-4-yl)-1,3,5-triazine(TPT)as acceptor and donor molecules including coronene and tetrathiafulvalene(TTF).Based on the flexible configurations of FCA ligand and the directing of donor dependent D-A interactions,the structures of TF-1 to TF-3 featuring distinctive dimension were obtained based on Cd(Ⅱ)ions for investigating the PT property in configurational perspectives.A systematic investigation of the PT properties of the CPs was ***,TF-3 exhibits the finest PT conversion effect under the irradiation of560 nm laser,while TF-2 shows optimal PT conversion under 808 nm laser irradiation required for biological PT therapy,illustrating the correlation between the structural and component features of the CPs and their PT ***,Zn(Ⅱ)as bio-friendly ion was utilized to construct hypotoxic TF-4 that reveals similar structure to that of TF-2 for potential ***(PDMS)patches doped with TF-4 exhibits considerable NIR PT conversion effect under808 nm,represented by the nearly 80℃temperature increased in 120 s for TF-4@PDMS patch(1.2 wt%)under 0.9 W cm^(-2)irradiation,the results of which herein indicate the potential of D-A CPs as versatile platform for the modulation of PT materials.

Objective To study the changes of biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) in cerebral amyloid angiopathy(CAA) dementia and Alzheimer's *** Levels of amyloid protein β(Aβ42,Aβ40) and phosphorylated Tau-protein(P-tau) in CSF and ratio of Aβ42/Aβ40 were tested in 5 cases with CAA dementia and 20 cases with Alzheimer's disease collected at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from December 2001 to March *** The levels of Aβ42,Aβ40,and P-tau in CSF and ratio of Aβ42/Aβ40 were(660.4±265.2) ng/L,(7111.0±1033.4) ng/L,(71.8±51.5) ng/L,and 0.077±0.033,respectively in CAA dementia and(663.6±365.6) ng/L,(5115.0±2931.1) ng/L,(47.7±38.8) ng/L,and 0.192±0.140,respectively in Alzheimer's disease *** were no statistically significant differences between CAA dementia and Alzheimer's disease in terms of these CSF biomarkers(all P>0.05).Conclusion Measurements of CSF biomarkers may not be helpful in differential diagnosis of CAA and Alzheimer's disease.

Spatial Distribution of Soil Organic Matter and Nutrients in the Pear Orchard Under Clean and Sod Cultivation Models

The soil organic matter and nutrients are fundamental for the sustainability of pear production, but little is known about the spatial distribution of soil organic matter and nutrients in a pear orchard. With the soil of the pear （cv. Dangshansu on *** Bunge. rootstock） orchard under clean and sod cultivation models as test materials, the experiment was conducted to evaluate spatial variability of soil organic matter （SOM）, total nitrogen （STN）, total phosphorus （STP）, total potassium （STK）, available nitrogen （SAN）, and available potassium （SAK） in and between rows at different soil depths （0-60 cm）. The SOM, STN, STP, STK, SAN and SAK of the different soil layers under the two tillage models were different in the vertical direction. The SOM, STN, STP and SAN in the 0-20 cm soil layer were higher than those in the 20-40 and 40- 60 cm soil layers. The STK of 40-60 cm soil layer was higher than that in the 0-20 and 20-40 cm soil layers. The STK increased with the depth of soil in the vertical direction in the clean cultivated pear orchard. Variability of the SOM, STN, STP, STK, SAN and SAK of sample sites in between rows of the same soil layer was found in the pear orchard soil in the horizontal direction under clean and sod cultivation management systems, except that STK of all sites did not show the difference in identical soil layers in the pear orchard under clean cultivation. The sod cultivation model improved the SOM, STN, and STK in the 0-20 cm soil layer in the pear orchard, and the three components increased by 12.8, 12.7 and 7.3% compared to clean cultivation, respectively. The results can be applicable to plan collection of orchard soil samples, assess orchard soil quality, and improve orchard soil management practices.

Viral co-infection has been found in animals;however,the mechanisms of co-infection are *** abundance and diversity of viruses in water make fish highly susceptible to ***,we reported a coinfection in fish,which resulted in reduced host lethality and illustrated the intracellular molecular mechanism of viral *** spring viremia of carp virus(SVCV)is a highly lethal virus that infects Cyprinidae,such as *** mortality of SVCV infection was significantly reduced when co-infected with the grass carp reovirus(GCRV).The severity of tissue damage and viral proliferation of SVCV was also reduced in co-infection with *** transcriptome bioinformatics analysis demonstrated that the effect on the host transcripts in response to SVCV infection was significantly reduced in *** excluding the extracellular interactions of these two viruses,the intracellular mechanisms were *** found that the GCRV NS38 remarkably decreased SVCV infection and viral *** interaction between GCRV NS38 and SVCV nucleoprotein(N)and phosphoprotein(P)proteins was identified,and NS38 downregulated both N and P *** analysis demonstrated that the N protein was degraded by NS38 indispensable of the autophagy receptor,sequestosome 1(p62).Meanwhile,K63-linked ubiquitination of the P protein was reduced by NS38,leading to ubiquitinated degradation of the P *** results reveal that the intracellular viral protein interactions are a crucial mechanism of co-infection and influence the host pathology and expand our understanding in intracellular viral interactions co-infection.
