Evaluation and Hydrological Application of CMADS Reanalysis Precipitation Data against Four Satellite Precipitation Products in the Upper Huaihe River Basin, China

Satellite-and reanalysis-based precipitation products are important data source for precipitation, particularly in areas with a sparse gauge network. Here, five open-access precipitation products, including the newly released China Meteorological Assimilation Driving Datasets for the Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) model(CMADS)reanalysis dataset and four widely used bias-adjusted satellite precipitation products [SPPs;i.e., Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM) Multisatellite Precipitation Analysis 3B42 Version 7(TMPA 3B42V7), Climate Prediction Center(CPC) morphing technique satellite–gauge blended product(CMORPH-BLD), Climate Hazards Group Infrared Precipitation with Station Data(CHIRPS), and Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information using Artificial Neural Networks–Climate Data Record(PERSIANN-CDR)], were assessed. These products were first compared with the gauge observed data collected for the upper Huaihe River basin, and then were used as forcing data for streamflow simulation by the Xin’anjiang(XAJ) hydrological model under two scenarios with different calibration procedures. The performance of CMADS precipitation product for the Chinese mainland was also assessed. The results show that:(1) for the statistical assessment, CMADS and CMORPH-BLD perform the best, followed by TMPA 3B42V7, CHIRPS, and PERSIANN-CDR, among which the correlation coefficient(CC) and rootmean-square error(RMSE) values of CMADS are optimal, although it exhibits certain significant negative relative bias(BIAS;-22.72%);(2) CMORPH-BLD performs the best in capturing and detecting rainfall events, while CMADS tends to underestimate heavy and torrential precipitation;(3) for streamflow simulation, the performance of using CMADS as input is very good, with the highest Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE) values(0.85 and 0.75 for calibration period and validation period, respectively);and(4) CMADS exhibits high accuracy in eastern China while with significant negative BIAS,

GsMAPK4,a positive regulator of soybean tolerance to salinity stress

Salt stress is one of the major factors affecting plant growth and yield in soybean under saline soil condition. Despite many studies on salinity tolerance of soybean during the past few decades, the detailed signaling pathways and the signaling molecules for salinity tolerance regulation have not been clarified. In this study, a proteomic technology based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE) and mass spectrometry(MS) were used to identify proteins responsible for salinity tolerance in soybean plant. Real-time quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR) and Western blotting(WB) were used to verify the results of 2-DE/MS. Based on the results of 2-DE and MS, we selected glucosyltransferase(GsGT4), 4-coumarate, coenzyme A ligase(Gs4 CL1), mitogen-activated protein kinase 4(GsMAPK4), dehydration responsive element binding protein(GsDREB1), and soybean cold-regulated gene(GsSRC1) in the salinity tolerant soybean variety, and GsMAPK4 for subsequent research. We transformed soybean plants with mitogen-activated-protein kinase 4(GsMAPK4) and screened the resulting transgenics soybean plants using PCR and WB, which confirmed the expression of GsMAPK4 in transgenic soybean. GsMAPK4-overexpressed transgenic plants showed significantly increased tolerance to salt stress, suggesting that GsMAPK4 played a pivotal role in salinity tolerance. Our research will provide new insights for better understanding the salinity tolerance regulation at molecular level.

In this paper, we study the closeness of strongly （∞）-hopfian properties under some constructions such as the ring of Morita context, direct products, triangular matrix, fraction ring etc. Also, we prove that if M[X] is strongly hopfian （resp. strongly co-hopfian） in R[X]-Mod, then M is strongly hopfian （resp. strongly co-hopfian） in R-Mod.

Power Adjusting Algorithm： A New Cross-Layer Power Saving Mechanism for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

Power saving is one of the key issues in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks （MANETs）. It can be realized in Medium Access Control （MAC） layer and network layer. However, previous attentions were mainly paid to MAC layer or network layer with the aim of improving the channel utilization by adopting variable-range transmission power control. In this paper we focus on the power saving in both MAC layer and network layer, and propose a Power Adjusting Algorithm （PAA）. In the presence of host＇s mobility, PAA is designed to conserve energy by adjusting the transmission power to maintain the route＇s connectivity and restarting the route discovery periodically to find a new route with better energy efficiency dynamically. After analyzing the operations of PAA, we find that the length of route discovery restarting period is a critical argument which will affect power saving, and an energy consumption model is abstracted to find the optimal value of the restarting period by analyzing the energy consumption of this algorithm. PAA can handle the mobility of MANET by adjusting the transmission power and in the meantime save energy by restarting route discovery periodically to balance the energy consumption on route discovery and packet delivering. Simulation results show that, PAA saves nearly 40% energy compared with Dynamic Source Routing protocol when the maximum speed of mobile hosts is larger than 8 m/s.

LARGE EDDY SIMULATION OF FREE SURFACE TURBULENT CHANNEL FLOW WITH HEAT TRANSFER

The Large Eddy Simulation (LES) was used to study the free-surface turbulent channel flow with passive heat transfer. The three-dimensional filtered incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and energy equation were numerically solved with dynamic Subgrid Scale (SGS) models for modeling turbulent stresses and heat flux. To compare the turbulent behavior of the free-surface and two-walled channel flows, the LES of two-walled turbulent channel flow was performed. The statistical quantities and flow structures of the free-surface turbulence with heat transfer in the vicinity of the free-surface were investigated. The results are also in good agreement with theoretical analysis and available results by Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS).

Fabrication of Two-dimensional Monolayer and One-dimensional Wire of Zn-tetra-[3,5-di-t-butylphenyl]-porphyrin on Cu(100) Surface

We describe in this paper the fabrication of two- and one-dimensional nanostructures with organic molecular beam epitaxy （OMBE） principle based on controlled selfassembly by using adsorbate-substrate and intennolecular interactions that are important in molecular fabrication. Cu（100） single crystal was used as substrate in fabricating molecular nanostructures. Scanning tunneling microscopy （STM） experiments confirmed that Zn-tetra- [3,5-di-t-butylphenyl]porphyrin-molecules can be used to fabricate both monolayer and molecular wire on Cu（100） surface simultaneously, and the latter is arranged on the terrace edges. We herein briefly discuss the selectivity in terms of a mechanism in which the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals （HOMO and LUMO） of the molecules interact with the surface.

Study on quantitative analysis of slag based on spectral normalization of laser-induced plasma image

To reduce the influence of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy （LIBS） experimental parameter fluctuations to quantitative analysis of slag components, a normalization method using integral intensity of plasma image was proposed and a series of experiments with slag samples were performed. Mg II 279.55 nm, Ca II 396.85 and Ca I 422.67 nm were selected as analytical lines, and analytical curves of reference mass fractions versus spectral line intensities were established. With the incre- ment of set threshold for edge extraction of plasma image, the determination coefficients and relative standard deviations of analytical curves were improved gradually and reached the optimmn values when the threshold was equal to 10 000. Comparing with the results without normalization and normalized by whole spectrum area, the relativity between spectral line intensity and mass fraction can be enhanced etfieiently after normalized by integral intensity of plasma image. The verification experiments with Ti alloy samples further confirmed the conclusions mentioned above.

Nerve biopsy findings contribute to diagnosis of multiple mononeuropathy: 78% of findings support clinical diagnosis

Multiple mononeuropathy is an unusual form of peripheral neuropathy involving two or more nerve trunks. It is a syndrome with many different causes. We reviewed the clinical, electrophysi- ological and nerve biopsy findings of 14 patients who suffered from multiple mononeuropathy in our clinic between January 2009 and June 2013. Patients were diagnosed with vasculitic neurop- athy （n = 6）, perineuritis （n = 2）, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy （n = 2） or Lewis-Sumner syndrome （n = 1） on the basis of clinical features, laboratory data, elec- trophysiological investigations and nerve biopsies. Two patients who were clinically diagnosed with vasculitic neuropathy and one patient who was clinically diagnosed with chronic inflamma- tory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy were not confirmed by nerve biopsy. Nerve biopsies confirmed clinical diagnosis in 78.6% of the patients （11/14）. Nerve biopsy pathological diagno- sis is crucial to the etiological diagnosis of multiple mononeuropathy.

Effects of Ooplasmic Transfer on Rabbit Oocyte Fertilization and Early Embryonic Development

In order to evaluate the effects of ooplasm on oocyte fertilization and early embryonic development and to study themitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) heterogeneity of early embryos, microinjection was first performed to transfer a smallamount (5 to 7%) of donor ooplasm into recipient oocytes, then the eggs were fertilized with rabbit sperm throughintracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). In group 1 (homogeneous ooplasmic transfer), both the donor and recipient rabbitoocytes were at metaphase II (MII). In group 2 (heterogeneous ooplasmic transfer), the donor was mouse MII oocyte andthe recipient was rabbit MII oocyte. In the control group, only ICSI was done on rabbit oocyte without ooplasmic *** significant difference (P>0.05) was observed in blastocyst development rates between group 1 (13.0%, 3/23) and thecontrol group (16.7%, 4/24), but significant difference (P<0.05) was examined in blastocyst development rate betweengroup 2 (0, 0/27) and the control group. Blastomeres cleaved unequally and embryonic fragments increased after ooplasmictransfer and ICSI. In early embryos, in group 2, donor mouse mtDNA was detected in 2-cell embryos (3/3), 4-cell embryos(3/4), 8-cell embryos (4/4), and morulae (2/2). The mtDNA fingerprinting analysis showed that mouse mtDNA detected inheterogeneous embryos of different developmental stages had exactly the same sequence as that of the donor mousemtDNA, thus indicating that homogenous ooplasmic transfer had no significant influence on rabbit oocyte fertilizationand early embryonic development, and that heterogeneous ooplasmic transfer did cause notable reduction in blastocystdevelopment rate. Heterogeneous mtDNA sequence in early embryos did not mutate. Compared with the control group,the embryonic quality declined after ooplasmic transfer operation in the present experiment.
