The calculation of the factor of safety(FOS)is an important means of slope evaluation.This paper proposed an improved double strength reductionmethod(DRM)to analyze the safety of layered slopes.The physical properties of different soil layers of the slopes are different,so the single coefficient strength reduction method(SRM)is not enough to reflect the actual critical state of the slopes.Considering that the water content of the soil in the natural state is the main factor for the strength of the soil,the attenuation law of shear strength of clayey soil changing with water content is fitted.This paper also establishes the functional relationship between different reduction coefficients.Then,a USDFLD subroutine is programmed using the secondary development function of finite element software.Controlling the relationship between field variables and calculation time realizes double strength reduction applicable to the layered slope.Finally,by comparing the calculation results of different examples,it is proved that the stress and displacement distribution of the critical slope state obtained by the improved method is more realistic,and the calculated safety factor is more reliable.The newly proposedmethod considers the difference of intensity attenuation between different soil layers under natural conditions and avoids the disadvantage of the strength reduction method with uniform parameters,which provides a new idea and method for stability analysis of layered and complex slopes.

The objective of this study is to investigate themethods for soil liquefaction discrimination. Typically, predicting soilliquefaction potential involves conducting the standard penetration test (SPT), which requires field testing and canbe time-consuming and labor-intensive. In contrast, the cone penetration test (CPT) provides a more convenientmethod and offers detailed and continuous information about soil layers. In this study, the feature matrix based onCPT data is proposed to predict the standard penetration test blow count N. The featurematrix comprises the CPTcharacteristic parameters at specific depths, such as tip resistance qc, sleeve resistance f s, and depth H. To fuse thefeatures on the matrix, the convolutional neural network (CNN) is employed for feature extraction. Additionally,Genetic Algorithm (GA) is utilized to obtain the best combination of convolutional kernels and the number ofneurons. The study evaluated the robustness of the proposed model using multiple engineering field data sets.Results demonstrated that the proposed model outperformed conventional methods in predicting N values forvarious soil categories, including sandy silt, silty sand, and clayey silt. Finally, the proposed model was employedfor liquefaction discrimination. The liquefaction discrimination based on the predicted N values was comparedwith the measured N values, and the results showed that the discrimination results were in 75% agreement. Thestudy has important practical application value for foundation liquefaction engineering. Also, the novel methodadopted in this research provides new ideas and methods for research in related fields, which is of great academicsignificance.

Purpose:To assess the value of the driving pressure variation rate(ΔP%)in predicting the outcome of weaning from invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.Methods:In this case-control study,a total of 35 patients with moderate-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome were admitted to the intensive care unit between January 2022 and December 2022 and received invasive mechanical ventilation for at least 48 h were enrolled.Patients were divided into successful weaning group and failed weaning group depending on whether they could be removed from ventilator support within 14 days.Outcome measures including driving pressure,PaO2:FiO2,and positive end-expiratory pressure,etc.were assessed every 24 h from day 0 to day 14 until successful weaning was achieved.The measurement data of non-normal distribution were presented as median(Q1,Q3),and the differences between groups were compared by Wilcoxon rank sum test.And categorical data use the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test to compare.The predictive value ofΔP%in predicting the outcome of weaning from the ventilator was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curves.Results:Of the total 35 patients included in the study,17 were successful vs.18 failed in weaning from a ventilator after 14 days of mechanical ventilation.The cut-off values of the medianΔP%measured by Operator 1 vs.Operator 2 in the first 4 days were≥4.17%and 4.55%,respectively(p<0.001),with the area under curve of 0.804(sensitivity of 88.2%,specificity of 64.7%)and 0.770(sensitivity of 88.2%,specificity of 64.7%),respectively.There was a significant difference in mechanical ventilation duration between the successful weaning group and the failure weaning group(8(6,13)vs.12(7.5,17.3),p=0.043).The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in the successful weaning group was significantly lower than in the failed weaning group(0.2‰vs.2.3‰,p=0.001).There was a significant difference noted between these 2 groups in the 28-day mortality(11.8%vs.66.7%,

Let f(t,y,y')=∑ _(i=0)^(n )a_(i)(t,y)y'^(i)=0 be an irreducible first order ordinary differential equation with polynomial coefficients.Eremenko in 1998 proved that there exists a constant C such that every rational solution of f(t,y,y')=0 is of degree not greater than C.Examples show that this degree bound C depends not only on the degrees of f in t,y,y' but also on the coefficients of f viewed as the polynomial in t,y,y'.In this paper,the authors show that if f satisfies deg(f,y)0,then the degree bound C only depends on the degrees of f in t,y,y',and furthermore we present an explicit expression for C in terms of the degrees of f in t,y,y'.

This article continues our highlights last two years[1,2]on the highest independently confirmed mainstream(silicon,perovskite,and organic)solar cell efficiencies in 2023.The world record power conversion efficiency(PCE)of the single-junction silicon and perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells has reached over 27%and close to 34%,respectively,in 2023.We have also witnessed the rapid mass-production development of the silicon passivating contact and silicon back contact solar cells,as well as further progress with perovskite solar cells(PSCs).

In eukaryotic organisms,the most common internal modification of messenger RNA(m RNA)is N6-methyladenosine(m6A).This modification can be dynamically and reversibly controlled by specific enzymes known as m6A writers and erasers.The fat-mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)catalyzes RNA demethylation and plays a critical role in various physiological and pathological processes.Our research identified dynamic alterations in both m6A and FTO during the assembly of primordial follicles,with an inverse relationship observed for m6A levels and nuclear-localized FTO expression.Application of Fto small interfering RNA(si RNA)altered the expression of genes related to cell proliferation,hormone regulation,and cell chemotaxis,and affected RNA alternative splicing.Overexpression of the full-length Fto gene led to changes in m6A levels,alternative splicing of Cdk5,cell proliferation,cell cycle progression,and proportion of primordial follicles.Conversely,overexpression of Fto lacking a nuclear localization signal(NLS)did not significantly alter m6A levels or primordial follicle assembly.These findings suggest that FTO,localized in the nucleus but not in the cytoplasm,regulates RNA m6A demethylation and plays a role in cell proliferation,cell cycle progression,and primordial follicle assembly.These results highlight the potential of m6A and its eraser FTO as possible biomarkers and therapeutic targets.

The blockchain-empowered Internet of Vehicles(IoV)enables various services and achieves data security and privacy,significantly advancing modern vehicle systems.However,the increased frequency of data transmission and complex network connections among nodes also make them more susceptible to adversarial attacks.As a result,an efficient intrusion detection system(IDS)becomes crucial for securing the IoV environment.Existing IDSs based on convolutional neural networks(CNN)often suffer from high training time and storage requirements.In this paper,we propose a lightweight IDS solution to protect IoV against both intra-vehicle and external threats.Our approach achieves superior performance,as demonstrated by key metrics such as accuracy and precision.Specifically,our method achieves accuracy rates ranging from 99.08% to 100% on the Car-Hacking dataset,with a remarkably short training time.

Risk Factors of Depression Screened by Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Analysis:A Systematic Review

Objective This study explored the potentially modifiable factors for depression and major depressive disorder(MDD)from the MR-Base database and further evaluated the associations between drug targets with MDD.Methods We analyzed two-sample of Mendelian randomization(2SMR)using genetic variant depression(n=113,154)and MDD(n=208,811)from Genome-Wide Association Studies(GWAS).Separate calculations were performed with modifiable risk factors from MR-Base for 1,001 genomes.The MR analysis was performed by screening drug targets with MDD in the DrugBank database to explore the therapeutic targets for MDD.Inverse variance weighted(IVW),fixed-effect inverse variance weighted(FE-IVW),MR-Egger,weighted median,and weighted mode were used for complementary calculation.Results The potential causal relationship between modifiable risk factors and depression contained 459 results for depression and 424 for MDD.Also,the associations between drug targets and MDD showed that SLC6A4,GRIN2A,GRIN2C,SCN10A,and IL1B expression are associated with an increased risk of depression.In contrast,ADRB1,CHRNA3,HTR3A,GSTP1,and GABRG2 genes are candidate protective factors against depression.Conclusion This study identified the risk factors causally associated with depression and MDD,and estimated 10 drug targets with significant impact on MDD,providing essential information for formulating strategies to prevent and treat depression.

Inflammation-associated diseases encompass a range of infectious diseases and non-infectious inflammatory diseases,which continuously pose one of the most serious threats to human health,attributed to factors such as the emergence of new pathogens,increasing drug resistance,changes in living environments and lifestyles,and the aging population.Despite rapid advancements in mechanistic research and drug development for these diseases,current treatments often have limited efficacy and notable side effects,necessitating the development of more effective and targeted anti-inflammatory therapies.In recent years,the rapid development of nanotechnology has provided crucial technological support for the prevention,treatment,and detection of inflammation-associated diseases.Various types of nanoparticles(NPs)play significant roles,serving as vaccine vehicles to enhance immunogenicity and as drug carriers to improve targeting and bioavailability.NPs can also directly combat pathogens and inflammation.In addition,nanotechnology has facilitated the development of biosensors for pathogen detection and imaging techniques for inflammatory diseases.This review categorizes and characterizes different types of NPs,summarizes their applications in the prevention,treatment,and detection of infectious and inflammatory diseases.It also discusses the challenges associated with clinical translation in this field and explores the latest developments and prospects.In conclusion,nanotechnology opens up new possibilities for the comprehensive management of infectious and inflammatory diseases.

Cardiovascular diseases(CVD)are the leading cause of death in the world and one of the most common diseases in the elderly,with high prevalence and poor prognosis,which seriously affect the health of the elder patients.One report showed that global deaths from CVD increased from 12.4 million in 1990 to 19.8 million in 2022,reflecting the global population growth and aging,as well as the impact of metabolic,environmental,and behavioral risks.[1]With the progress of aging population,the burden of CVD in the elderly in China has increased year by year,and factors including multiple complications,organ function decline,and high complication rate have made the interventional treatment of CVD in the elderly one of the difficulties and focuses in the field of cardiology in China.
