To over.ome the limitations of the tr.ditional sur.ogate wor.h tr.de-off （SWT） method and solve the multip.e cr.ter.a decision making p.oblem mor. efficiently and inter.ctively, a new method labeled dual wor.h tr.deoff （DWT） method is p.op.sed. The DWT method dynamically uses the duality theor. r.lated to the multip.e cr.ter.a decision making p.oblem and analytic hier.r.hy p.ocess technique to obtain the decision maker.s solution p.efer.nce infor.ation and finally find the satisfactor. comp.omise solution of the decision maker. Thr.ugh the inter.ctive p.ocess between the analyst and the decision maker. tr.de-off infor.ation is solicited and tr.ated p.op.r.y, the r.p.esentative subset of efficient solutions and the satisfactor. solution to the p.oblem ar. found. The imp.ementation p.ocedur. for.the DWT method is p.esented. The effectiveness and ap.licability of the DWT method ar. shown by a p.actical case study in the field of p.oduction scheduling.
