effects of Soluble Silicate and Nanosilica Application on Rice Nutrition in an Oxisol

Silicon （Si） has been supplied to plants via application of calcium silicate to soil; however, high doses of calcium silicate are required because of its low solubility. Nanoparticles can reduce Si doses and be applied to seeding furrows. This study investigated the effects of liquid Si sources, i.e., highly soluble silicate （115.2 g L^-1 Si and 60.5 g L^-1 Na20） and nanosilica （〈 200 nm）, on Si uptake by rice plants, plant lignification, plant C：N：P stoichiometry, plant physiology, and grain yield using an Oxisol under greanhouse condistions. The treatments included the application of nanosilica and soluble silicate to seeding furrows at Si doses of 0, 605, 1210, and 2 420 g ha^-1. Plant uptake and treatment effects were evaluated by measuring C and lignin contents, Si, N, and P accumulation, physiological characteristics, and grain yield of rice. The deposition of silica bodies and amorphous silica in the flag leaves was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. Application of liquid Si increased Si accumulation in rice by 47.3% in relation to the control （0 g ha^-1 Si）, regardless of the Si sources used. Nanosilica application increased leaf lignin content by 112.7% when compared to that in the control. Silicon moderately affected the net C assimilation （increased by 1.83%） and transpiration rates （increased by 48.3%）; however, Si influenced neither plant growth nor grain yield of rice. These results are explained by the lack of biotic or abiotic stress in rice plants during the experiment. To the best of our knowledge, in Brazilian agriculture, this is the first report on the use of nanosilica as a Si fertilizer and its effect on plant nutrition. This study provides evidence that rice plants absorb and accumulate nanoparticles; however, further studies are required to investigate the use of nanoparticles in other plant species.

The human striatum is essential for both lowand high-level functions and has been implicated in the pathophysiology of various prevalent disorders,including Parkinson's disease(PD)and schizophrenia(SCZ).It is known to consist of structurally and functionally divergent ***,previous parcellations are based on a single neuroimaging modality,leaving the extent of the multi-modal organization of the striatum ***,we investigated the organization of the striatum across three modalities—resting-state functional connectivity,probabilistic diffusion tractography,and structural covariance—to provide a holistic convergent view of its structure and *** found convergent clusters in the dorsal,dorsolateral,rostral,ventral,and caudal *** characterization revealed the anterior striatum to be mainly associated with cognitive and emotional functions,while the caudal striatum was related to action ***,significant structural atrophy in the rostral and ventral striatum was common to both PD and SCZ,but atrophy in the dorsolateral striatum was specifically attributable to *** study revealed a cross-modal convergent organization of the striatum,representing a fundamental topographical model that can be useful for investigating structural and functional variability in aging and in clinical conditions.

This paper presents a new algorithm for determining Hopf bifurcation points by matrix decomposition technique. And the operation quantity of new algorithm equals approximately the operation quantity of solving the nonlinear equation with n + 2 dimensions.

The novel coronavirus pandemic,first reported in December 2019,was caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).SARS-CoV-2 infection leads to a strong immune response and activation of antigen-presenting cells,which can elicit acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)characterized by the rapid onset of widespread inflammation,the so-called cytokine *** response to viral infections,monocytes are recruited into the lung and subsequently differentiate into dendritic cells(DCs).DCs are critical players in the development of acute lung inflammation that causes ***,we focus on the interaction of a specific SARS-CoV-2 open reading frame protein,ORF8,with *** show that ORF8 binds to DCs,causes pre-maturation of differentiating DCs,and induces the secretion of multiple proinflammatory cytokines by these *** addition,we identified DC-SIGN as a possible interaction partner of ORF8 on *** of ORF8 leads to reduced production of IL-1β,IL-6,IL-12p70,TNF-α,MCP-1(also named CCL2),and IL-10 by ***,a neutralizing antibody blocking the ORF8-mediated cytokine and chemokine response could be an improved therapeutic strategy against SARS-CoV-2.

电力市场环境下,电能现货交易价格的高度不确定性给发电商带来了很大的交易风险。双边合同交易市场的设立为发电商提供了一个有效的风险规避途径。因此,制订合理的交易策略,合理的分配现货市场和双边合同市场交易份额有助于发电商在最大程度上实现利润最大化和风险最小化的交易目标。基于均值–方差原理提出了一个发电商交易策略构建模型,该模型充分考虑交易计划期内每个交易时段的电价特性并针对每个交易时段制订不同的交易策略。基于美国PJM电力市场历史数据的仿真结果验证了该模型的合理性和有效性。该文的研究结果为发电商的交易策略制定提供了一种解析分析的途径。

Management of penile urethral strictures: Challenges and future directions

The anatomy of the penile urethra presents additional challenges when compared to other urethral segments during open stricture surgery particularly because of its unsuitability for excision and primary anastomosis and its relatively deficient corpus spongiosum. Stricture aetiology, location, length and previous surgical intervention remain the primary factors influencing the choice of penile urethroplasty technique. We have identified what we feel are the most important challenges and controversies in penile urethral stricture reconstruction, namely the use of flaps vs grafts, use of skin or oral mucosal tissue for augmentation/substitution and when a single or a staged approach is indicated to give the best possible outcome. The management of more complex cases such as panurethral lichen-sclerosus strictures and hypospadias "cripples" is outlined and potential developments for the future are presented.

Classification of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Specimens with Raman Spectroscopy as Smart Sensing Technology

Intraoperative confirmation of negative resection margins is an essential component of soft tissue sarcoma *** section examination of samples from the resection bed after excision of sarcomas is the gold standard for intraoperative assessment of margin ***,it takes time to complete histologic examination of these samples,and the technique does not provide real-time diagnosis in the operating room(OR),which delays completion of the *** paper presents a study and development of sensing technology using Raman spectroscopy that could be used for detection and classification of the tumor after resection with negative sarcoma margins in real *** acquired Raman spectra from samples of sarcoma and surrounding benign muscle,fat,and dermis during surgery and developed(i)a quantitative method(QM)and(ii)a machine learning method(MLM)to assess the spectral patterns and determine if they could accurately identify these tissue types when compared to findings in adjacent H&e-stained frozen *** classification accuracy(>85%)was achieved with both methods,indicating that these four types of tissue can be identified using the analytical methodology.A hand-held Raman probe could be employed to further develop the methodology to obtain spectra in the OR to provide real-time in vivo capability for the assessment of sarcoma resection margin status.
