Scoping review: obese elderly women with breast cancer and physical activity/exercise

Objective:Obesity and breast cancer(BC)are diseases of concern,especially within the context of an aging *** scoping review is aimed at mapping out the literature on the subject of elderly women(EW)with breast cancer,obesity and physical activity/exercise(PAE)to identify gaps in the present extant literature,and to suggest directions for future *** sources:A total of four articles were finalized from an initial 2905 articles found via searches on the Annals of Internal Medicine by American College of Physicians(ACP)^(TM),BioMed Central(BMC)^(TM),BMJ Journals^(TM),Journal of the American Medical Association(JAMA)^(TM),PubMed^(TM),SAGE^(TM),ScienceDirect^(TM),SpringerLink(e-journals)^(TM),Taylor and Francis Online^(TM),and Wiley Online Library^(TM) ***:Recognized structural frameworks for scoping reviews were utilized to guide the methodology and technical aspects of this *** extraction was conducted via a charting ***:Research gaps identified include a paucity in research on the subject of obesity and breast cancer among elderly women;there is a limitation of the types of methodologies used in the research on this subject indicating vast opportunities for future studies using different methodologies;lack of use of the alternative types of physical activity and exercise such as Tai Chi,Qigong and Yoga;lack of focus on the older elderly population;and areas of social support from family and friends for obese elderly with breast cancer to engage in physical activity and ***:Future research would address the urgent need within academia to address the research gap of PAE and *** research should use a diverse range of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies,while including eastern exercise regimens such as Tai Chi,Qigong and Yoga as a means of studying PAE among ***,future research may focus on the“old elderly”as a demographic group of study as well as how social suppo

Biotransformation of 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate(6:2 FTS)in sulfur-rich media by Trametopsis cervina

Biotransformation of 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate(6:2 FTS)by two species of white-rot fungi,Pleurotus ostreatus(***)and Trametopsis cervina(***),was investigated in a sulfurrich medium designed to stimulate production of lignin-degrading *** of 6:2 FTS was observed by *** over the study period of 30 d,but not by *** rates were comparable to those found in other studies investigating mixed culture degradation in nonsulfur limiting media,with approximately 50 mol%of applied 6:2 FTS removed after 30 *** transformation products were short-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids(PFCAs),including PFHxA(2.27 mol%),PFPeA(0.24 mol%),and PFBA(0.28 mol%).The main intermediate products include 5:2 sFTOH(16.3 mol%)and 5:3 FTCA(2.99 mol%),while 6:2 FTCA,6:2 FTuCA,and 5:2 ketone were also identified at low *** 60 mol%of detected products were assigned to the major pathway to 5:2 ketone,and 40 mol%were assigned to the minor pathway to 5:3 *** overall molar balance was found to decrease to 75 mol%by Day 30,however,was closed to near 95 mol%with a theoretical estimation for the volatile intermediates in the headspace,5:2 ketone and 5:2 *** different capabilities of the two white-rot fungal species for 6:2 FTS biotransformation in sulfur-rich media suggest that the enzyme processes of *** to de-sulfonate 6:2 FTS may be unrelated to sulfur metabolism.

Modification Management for Construction Processes

This paper presents an approach to handle different types of subsequent modifications in construction processes. It is focused on a formalized approach with the objective that effects of subsequent modifications are detected automatically. The approach presented in this paper makes use of an existing modeling technique specifically focused on construction processes. The modeling techniques result in a process description where all technological interdependencies between construction activities are considered and where consistency between the sequence of activities and the history of components is guaran-teed. This modeling technique is expanded by an existing concept for handling versions and dependencies between objects. The integration of these different concepts makes it possible to track effects of relevant types of subsequent modifications in construction processes on a formalized basis. Effects of subsequent modifications are detected by algorithms, different versions can be compared by algorithms and different versions are stored so that subsequent modifications are documented. The innovation of the approach presented is the completeness. Effects of different relevant types of subsequent modifications in construction processes are tracked on a formalized basis.

Influence of Yttrium Ion-implantation on Oxidation Kinetics of Co-40Cr Alloy and Property of Oxide/Substrate Interface

The isothermal and cyclic oxidizing kinetics of Co-40Cr alloy and its yttrium ion-implanted samples were studied at 1000℃ in air by thermal-gravity analysis （TGA）. Scanning electronic microscopy （SEM） was used to examine the Cr203 oxide film＇s morphology after oxidation. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy （SIMS） method was used to examine the binding energy change of chromium caused by yttrium doping. Acoustic emission （AE） method was used in situ to monitor the cracking and spalling of oxide films formed on both samples during oxidizing and subsequent air-cooling stages. It is found that yttrium implantation remarkably reduces the isothermal oxidizing rate of Co-40Cr and improves the anti-cracking and anti-spalling properties of Cr2O3 oxide film. The reasons for the improvements are mainly that implanted yttrium reduces the grain size of Cr2O3 oxide, increases the high temperature plasticity of oxide film, and remarkably reduces the number and size of Cr2O3/Co-40Cr interfacial defects.

This article describes the conception and implementation of a web platform which uses special charts and maps for climate monitoring and *** first it gives an overview of related web applications and their advantages and *** is followed by a basic introduction of current technologies and methods for working with climate data,geospatial web services and visualization ***,the implementation based on prior defined requirements is presented and its strengths and limitations are *** application provides several basic charts for climate analysis,as well as a more complex one which uses a standardized visualization concept which is suitable for comparing different local climates(Walter-LiethStandard).The charts are based on different interpolated datasets with global coverage as well as data from the Global Historical Climate Network(GHCN).Overall,the application enables users to generate individual historical climate charts from the beginning of the twentieth century until present day.

Growing kinetics and structural characterization of oxide film formed on La-doped Co-40Cr alloy

The isothermal and cyclic oxidizing kinetics of Co-40Cr alloy and its lanthanum ion-implanted samples were studied at 1000 ℃ in air by thermal-gravity analysis （TGA）. Scanning electronic microscopy （SEM） and transmission electronic microscopy （TEM）） were used to examine the oxidized film＇s morphology and the structure after oxidation. Secondary ion mass spectrum （SIMS） method was used to examine the binding energy change of chromium caused by La-doping and its influence on formation of Cr2O3 film. Laser Raman spectrum was used to examine the tress changes within oxidized films. It was found that lanthanum implantation remarkably reduced the isothermal oxidizing rate of Co-40Cr and improved the anti-cracking and anti-spalling properties of Cr2O3 film. The reasons were that the implanted lanthanum reduced the grain size and internal stress of Cr2O3 oxide, increased the high temperature plasticity of oxidized film. Lanthanum mainly existed in the outer surface of Cr2O3 film in the forms of fine La2O3 and LaCrO3 spinel panicles.

Everyone knows that an infection can make you feel *** we perceive infection-induced changes in metabolism as a pathology,they are a part of a carefully regulated process that depends on tissue-specific interactions between the immune system and organs involved in the regulation of systemic ***-mediated changes in homeostatic parameters lead to altered production and uptake of nutrients in circulation,which modifies the metabolic rate of key *** is what we experience as being *** purpose of sickness metabolism is to generate a metabolic environment in which the body is optimally able to fight infection while denying vital nutrients for the replication of *** metabolism depends on tissue-specific immune cells,which mediate responses tailored to the nature and magnitude of the *** an infection increases in severity,so do the number and type of immune cells involved and the level to which organs are affected,which dictates the degree to which we feel ***,many alterations associated with metabolic disease appear to overlap with immune-mediated changes observed following *** processes involving tissue-specific interactions between activated immune cells and metabolic organs therefore holds great potential for treating both people with severe infection and those with metabolic *** this review,we will discuss how the immune system communicates in situ with organs involved in the regulation of homeostasis and how this communication is impacted by infection.

Temporal gradients limit the accumulation of neutrophils toward sources of chemoattractant

Neutrophil trafficking during inflammation is a highly orchestrated process,coordinating neutrophil recruitment,sterilization of the wound,and inflammation *** the chemotactic signals guiding neutrophil recruitment to sites of inflammation are relatively well understood,our knowledge of mechanisms controlling cessation of neutrophil recruitment and return to normal tissue physiology remains *** gain insights into these processes,we designed a microfluidic device with an array of chemoattractant reservoirs,which mimics the microenvironment in infected tissues,when multiple clusters of microbes are *** monitored the temporal dynamics of neutrophil recruitment toward the chemoattractant reservoirs at single cell resolution,for 3 *** observed robust neutrophil recruitment that reached a plateau after 1.5 h,despite the continuous presence of strong chemoattractant gradients around the *** timing of the plateau was dependent on the geometry of the devices and was independent from the number of *** the basis of these observations,we ruled out sub-population sensitivity,chemoattractant scavenging,and production of a self-limiting stop signal as potential mechanisms underpinning the plateau in neutrophil *** found a strong correlation between the temporal stabilization of concentration changes and the plateau in neutrophils *** results suggest that dynamic aspects of chemoattractant gradients are key for maximizing recruitment during the acute phase of infections and limiting the accumulation of neutrophils as soon as the infection is contained.

Poly(hydroxybutyrate)/poly(vinyl alcohol)(PHB/PVA)blends plasticized with glycerol were prepared by melt blending of PHB and glycerol plasticized *** PHB/PVA-glycerol compositions were 90:10,75:25 and 50:50 w/w,being the concentration of glycerol in the PVA mixture of 10 wt%.The blends were characterized by infrared spectroscopy,dynamic-mechanical thermal analysis,and scanning electron microscope of the fragile fractured *** results showed one single phase blend,indicating miscibility corroborated by the presence of a single glass transition *** blending method proved to be an efficient way to tune PHB properties keeping its biodegradable nature since both PVA and glycerol are fully biodegradable materials.

Liberation of SARS-CoV main protease from the viral polyprotein:N-terminal autocleavage does not depend on the mature dimerization mode

The main protease(M^(pro))plays a vital role in proteolytic processing of the polyproteins in the replicative cycle of SARS coronavirus(SARS-CoV).Dimerization of this enzyme has been shown to be indispensable for transcleavage ***,the auto-processing mechanism of M^(pro),*** own release from the polyproteins through autocleavage,remains *** study elucidates the relationship between the N-terminal autocleavage activity and the dimerization of“immature”M^(pro).Three residues(Arg4,Glu290,and Arg298),which contribute to the active dimer conformation of mature M^(pro),are selected for mutational ***,all three mutants still perform N-terminal autocleavage,while the dimerization of mature protease and transcleavage activity following auto-processing are completely inhibited by the E290R and R298E mutations and partially so by the R4E ***,the mature E290R mutant can resume N-terminal autocleavage activity when mixed with the“immature”C145A/E290R double mutant whereas its trans-cleavage activity remains ***,the N-terminal auto-processing of M^(pro) appears to require only two“immature”monomers approaching one another to form an“intermediate”dimer structure and does not strictly depend on the active dimer conformation existing in mature *** conclusion,an auto-release model of M^(pro) from the polyproteins is proposed,which will help understand the auto-processing mechanism and the difference between the autocleavage and trans-cleavage proteolytic activities of SARS-CoV M^(pro).
