This article is a part of a descriptive survey which aims to characterize, classify, and compare the household production in the Municipality of Itapuranga, State of Goias, Brazil, considering the access to the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture （PRONAF） and its respective differentiation between beneficiary and non-beneficiary groups by the program. It applied the technique of group comparison analysis and frequency inquiry, taking into consideration several variables. Information about the origin, distribution and total income, food safety, land property, production diversification, expenditures and participation in social organizations were collected. The sample consisted of 70 producers, the calculation sample was defined by determined value at the confidence level of 90% whereas the sampling error of 7%. The results allowed describing, classifying, characterizing, and comparing the socio-economic and productive profile of farmers from that area and their access to PRONAF.

Double cecal appendix is a rare anatomical variation. Approximately 100 cases have been reported worldwide. It is usually diagnosed incidentally during emergency appendectomies due to inflammatory processes in the cecal appendix. Case presentation: male, white, 36 years old, obese, presenting with pain in the lower abdomen for 24 h followed by nausea, vomiting and mild fever. He was subjected to additional tests, with the leukogram showing leukocytosis and abdominal ultrasonography depicting cecal appendix with thickened wall, locally associated with small quantities of liquid and intestinal loop obstruction. He underwent laparotomy, revealing acute appendicitis. Another intestinal loop obstruction was identified next to the ileum, leading to recognizing another cecal appendix after local dissection. Double appendectomy and segmental iliectomy were performed although not needed. Results of the anatomopathological examination of the surgical samples showed acute inflammation in the two cecal appendices. So, performing a routine retroperitoneal release and a complete cecum evaluation during such surgical procedures is recommended and suggested due to the possibility of not identifying a second cecal appendix.

Variation of the Thermal Properties of a Polyurethane-Polyethylene Composite

This paper discusses the behavior of the thermal properties of polymer composites made of a natural polyurethane matrix and loads of different waste of HDPE （High density polyethylene） industry. This polymer is partially crystalline, having amorphous phases and crystalline phases, HDPE type is harder and tougher than other polyethylenes, having a wide range of applications that depend almost exclusively on the processes for obtaining final products. After the process, waste from the manufacture of these products are discarded daily as they are not found effective ways to use this material. In this study we seek to use this ＂factory floor＂ to act as filler in a polyurethane matrix derived from the castor oil, which is a natural biodegradable. The residue loads were separated according to the process that originated in this way have been the A residue from the process of cork and the B residue derived from the extrusion process. Specimens in mass proportions of 10%, 20% and 30% polyethylene both loads were prepared and their thermal properties were mediated, these being the thermal conductivity （k）, specific heat （c） and thermal diffusivity （~）. By adding such fillers to castor polyurethane matrix, different behaviors were observed, because of the residue contributed to a reduction in conductivity and specific heat of the composite material. Since the residue B on average 47% higher than residue, caused an increase in these same properties as before the spaces filled with air only into the polyurethane are now filled with polyethylene grains. We can see then that the particle size of the HDPE waste has a direct influence on the improvement of the thermal properties of the analyzed composite material.

Pressureless melt infiltration is an economic route f or preparation of high-density ceramic/melt composites. In this study, the Fe40 Al iron aluminide intermetallic, a low cost material of excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, was used as binder for fabricating Fe40Al/TiC composites b y pressureless melt infiltration. The wetting ability of liquid Fe40Al in porous TiC pre-form was studied by in-situ monitoring the melting and infiltration p rocess. The infiltration ability was investigated by observing the distance of l iquid Fe40Al intrusion in porous TiC pre-forms at different infiltration temper atures and times by using optical microscope. Porous TiC per-forms with density of 60%～88%TD (theoretical density), prepared under pre-defined sintering temp e rature cycles, were used for fabricating Fe40Al/TiC composites in the range of 1 2%～40% metal content by volume. Almost full dense Fe40Al/TiC composites were su c cessfully fabricated by this technique. Liquid Fe40Al exhibited excellent infilt ration ability, the distance of complete intrusion of liquid Fe40Al in the TiC s intered pre-form with density of 88%TD was over 7 mm after 5 min at the inf iltration temperature of 1 450 ℃. Microstructural observation by SEM and TEM also showed that liquid Fe40Al filled the very narrow gaps among TiC particles, the interfaces of TiC particles and F e40Al plastic ligaments being metallurgical bonded. TEM revealed that high densi ty of dislocations formed in Fe40Al ligaments during solidification, which favor the mechanical properties. Ti decomposed from TiC particles and dissolved into Fe40Al during infiltration. According to the compositional analysis of TEM-EDS, the concentration of Ti in Fe40Al ranges at 1at%～4at% depending on composite f a bricating conditions and the distance from the measuring point to the closest Ti C particles. BACKGROUND Occult hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection(OCI) may be associated with extrahepatic diseases and it is known that the patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD) who are on hemodialysis(HD) present a higher prevalence of this type of infection than the general population, with a worse clinical ***, there are no data in the literature to assess the presence of OCI in patients prior to the initiation of renal replacement therapy(RRT). Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the occurrence and epidemiological aspects of OCI in patients with Predialysis CKD. We hypothesize that this infection could occur before RRT *** To research the status in predialysis patients when HD patients have high prevalence of *** A cross-sectional study was conducted between 2015 and 2017. Adults with creatinine clearance < 60 mL/min·1.73 m^2(predialysis patients) were recruited to the study. Pregnant and postpartum women, patients with glomerulopathies,and patients showing positivity for serological markers of hepatitis B virus(HBV), HCV or human immunodeficiency virus infection were excluded. Patients were diagnosed with OCI according to test results of anti-HCV antibody negativity and HCV RNA positivity in either ultracentrifuged serum or, if serumnegative, in peripheral blood mononuclear *** Among the 91 total patients included in the study, the prevalence of OCI was 16.5%. Among these 15 total OCI patients, 1 was diagnosed by 14 ultracentrifuged serum results and 14 were diagnosed by peripheral blood mononuclear cell results. Nowadays,food security is a global concern and a great scientific ***-industrial by-products can be used as potential ingredients of innovative food products,contributing to solve this societal ***-products of high specialty oils processing,for instance,have remarkable nutritional and organoleptic ***,the partially delipidified almond flour(PDAF)remaining from almond oil extraction,was used as an alternative ingredient in a highly appreciated almond-based cookie(“almendrados”).For comparison purposes,four different“almendrados”formulations(one industrial,two with PDAF,and one with whole almond flour),were compared regarding nutritional composition,vitamin E and fatty acids *** assess the cookie sensory properties,seventy-four consumers evaluated“appearance”,“taste”,“sweetness”,“crunchiness”,“hardness”,“overall quality”using adequate hedonic *** and protein levels showed significant differences among industrial and the other three *** with PDAF presented similar tocopherols and fatty acids to the traditional(more expensive)formulation,besides reaching the highest scores on“appearance”,“sweetness”,“hardness”,“overall quality”and“buying predisposition”***,the incorporation of PDAF might represent an effective way of adding value to an industrial by-product,while providing a pleasant novel cookie formulation.

The formation and evolution of cosmic string wakes in the framework of a f(R) theory of gravity are investigated in this work. We consider a simple model in which baryonic matter flows past a cosmic string. We treat this problem in the Zel’dovich approximation. We compare our results with previous results obtained in the context of General Relativity and Scalar-Theories of Gravity.

Epidemiological studies have found that the risk for cardiovascular disease is increased in patients with epilepsy. The Renin Angiontensin System (RAS), an important player in vascular tone control, is also involved in many neurological disorders, including seizures and epilepsy. Although it has been reported that Angiotensin II (Ang II) release and Angiotensin receptors expression are altered in many cerebral areas in patients/animal models with neurological disorders, there are no data on the vascular function. We evaluated Ang I and Ang II-mediated vascular responses and to correlate their contractile responses to the pres- ence of endothelium and the protein levels of components of the RAS (AT1, AT2, Mas and ACE) in aorta isolated from genetically epileptic rats (WAR strain). The major finding was that the vascular contractile response induced by Ang I and Ang II is endothelium-dependent. Ang II induced contractions in aortas from Wistar rats either with intact endothelium (E+) (1.16 ± 0.04 g, n = 6) and endothelium-denuded (E-) (1.24 ± 0.04 g, n = 6). Maximum contractile response (ME) induced by Ang I was lower in Wistar E+ (0.45 ± 0.03 g, n = 6) compared with Wistar E- (1.13 ± 0.08 g, n = 6). Ang I and Ang II failed to induce contraction in WAR E+, whereas the ME induced by Ang I in WAR E- was lower (0.52 ± 0.04 g, n = 11) than in the Wistar. ME induced by Ang II in aortas from WAR was also lower (0.40 ± 0.03 g, n = 11) compared with Wistar. AT1 receptor expression in both E+ WAR and Wistar was lower than in both E- WAR and Wistar. AT2 and Mas receptor expression was higher in Wistar E- and E+ as compared to WAR E- and E+. ACE expression was higher in both E+ WAR and Wistar, but it was lower in both E- WAR and Wistar. Endothelium impairs the contractile response induced by Angiotensin in WAR, suggesting that endothelial relaxing factors play important role on the aorta contraction.

The world＇s population is ageing rapidly, which will have substantial consequences. According to WHO：＂Process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age＂. The aim of this work is to make a literature review on key measures that contribute to healthy ageing. A search was conducted in the following databases： PubMed, Cochrane, National Guideline Clearinghouse, Trip Database, Guideline finders, NICE and WHO database, written in English and published in the last ten years. The following MeSH words were used：＂healthy ageing＂. The search was conducted from July first till end of December 2015. Based on the articles searched there are many measures with potential to achieve gains in healthy ageing such as prevention of falls; vaccination; regular physical activity, eating fruits and vegetables daily, drinking alcohol moderately; never smoking; prevention of social isolation and social exclusion; prevention of elder maltreatment; public support for informal care giving and create strategies to ensure the quality of care for older people. Getting older can come with a variety of health challenges. In the daily practice of family doctor there are many effective interventions that can improve health and wellbeing in elderly people.
