Continental versus oceanic subduction zones

Subduction zones are tectonic expressions of convergent plate margins,where crustal rocks descend into and interact with the overlying mantle *** are the geodynamic system that produces maic arc volcanics above oceanic subduction zones but high-to ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks in continental subduction *** the metamorphic rocks provide petrological records of orogenic processes when descending crustal rocks undergo dehydration and anataxis at forearc to subarc depths beneath the mantle wedge,the arc volcanics provide geochemical records of the mass transfer from the subducting slab to the mantle wedge in this period though the mantle wedge becomes partially melted at a later *** the mantle wedge overlying the subducting oceanic slab is of asthenospheric origin,that overlying the descending continental slab is of lithospheric origin,being ancient beneath cratons but juvenile beneath marginal *** either case,the mantle wedge base is cooled down during the slab–wedge coupled *** dehydration is prominent during subduction of crustal rocks,giving rise to aqueous solutions that are enriched in luid-mobile incompatible *** the subducting slab is decoupled from the mantle wedge,the slab–mantle interface is heated by lateral incursion of the asthenospheric mantle to allow dehydration melting of rocks in the descending slab surface and the metasomatized mantle wedge base,***,the tectonic regime of subduction zones changes in both time and space with respect to their structures,inputs,processes and *** record the tectonic conversion from sealoor spreading to oceanic subduction beneath continental margin,whereas ultrahigh-temperature metamorphic events mark the tectonic conversion from compression to extension in orogens.

The Dynamics of Changes in Starch and Lipid Droplets and Sub-Cellular Localization of β-Amylase During the Growth of Lily Bulbs

The ultra-structure of mother and outer daughter scales of Lilium Oriental hybrid Sorbonne were studied using transmission electron microscope to examine the sub-cellular localization of starch and lipid droplets during growth and development from shoot emergence to *** contents of starch granules and lipid droplets in the cell of the mother scales decreased significantly from shoot emergence to anthesis,indicating that these scales served as a source for growth and *** flowering,the number of starch granules and lipid droplets increased dramatically,and finally the cells were filled with the above molecules indicating that the bulb becomes a major sink during bulb *** observation also showed that symplastic pathway is the main pathway in cells in the exchange and transportation of material during bulb *** activity of β-amylase,one of the key enzymes catalyzing starch breakdown,showed a similar *** enzyme sub-cellular localization via immune-gold electron-microscopy showed that βamylase was predominantly located together with starch granules,while the gold particles were scarcely found in other sub-cellular *** result suggested that this enzyme is compartmented together with its functional substrate supporting its function in catalyzing starch breakdown in living plant cells.

Manipulating mechanical properties of graphene/Al composites by an in-situ synthesized hybrid reinforcement strategy

The structural deterioration caused by the relatively weak out-of-plane bending stiffness and the chemically-active edge area of graphene limits its outperformance in strengthening for Al matrix composites(AMCs).Introducing one-dimensional(1D)carbon nanotubes(CNTs)to graphene/metal system is one of the promised strategies to complement the weakness of 2D graphene and make full use of the outstanding intrinsic properties of the both *** date,such synergistic strengthening and toughening mechanisms are largely *** this study,AMCs reinforced by a novel hybrid reinforcement,i.e.,graphene nanosheets decorated with Cu nanoparticles and CNTs(Cu@GNS-CNTs),are fabricated by an in-situ synthesis *** combined contrast experiments validated that the organically integrated reinforcing structure promotes the intrinsic load bearing capacity of GNS and the strain hardening capability of the Al matrix *** a result,the composites achieved excellent tensile strength and uniform elongation with almost no *** strengthening mechanism originated primarily from the hybrid reinforcement exhibits superior load-transfer,fracture inhibition and dislocation storage capability by controlling the interface reaction to construct an effective interface structure without damaging the *** work identifies a promising structural modification strategy for 2D materials and provides mechanistic insights into the synergistic strengthening effect of graphene/CNTs hybrid reinforcement.

Practical cloud storage auditing using serverless computing

Cloud storage auditing research is dedicated to solving the data integrity problem of outsourced storage on the cloud. In recent years, researchers have proposed various cloud storage auditing schemes using different techniques. While these studies are elegant in theory, they assume an ideal cloud storage model;that is, they assume that the cloud provides the storage and compute interfaces as required by the proposed schemes. However, this does not hold for mainstream cloud storage systems because these systems only provide read and write interfaces but not the compute interface. To bridge this gap, this work proposes a serverless computing-based cloud storage auditing system for existing mainstream cloud object storage. The proposed system leverages existing cloud storage auditing schemes as a basic building block and makes two adaptations. One is that we use the read interface of cloud object storage to support block data requests in a traditional cloud storage auditing scheme. Another is that we employ the serverless computing paradigm to support block data computation as traditionally required. Leveraging the characteristics of serverless computing, the proposed system realizes economical, pay-as-you-go cloud storage auditing. The proposed system also supports mainstream cloud storage upper layer applications(e.g., file preview) by not modifying the data formats when embedding authentication tags for later auditing. We prototyped and open-sourced the proposed system to a mainstream cloud service, i.e., Tencent Cloud. Experimental results show that the proposed system is efficient and promising for practical use. For 40 GB of data, auditing takes approximately 98 s using serverless computation. The economic cost is 120.48 CNY per year, of which serverless computing only accounts for 46%. In contrast, no existing studies reported cloud storage auditing results for real-world cloud services.

Effect of Sn on Corrosion Behavior of Ultra-pure 17 mass% Cr Ferritic Stainless Steels in Sulphuric Acid

Multi-class Classification Methods of Enhanced LS-TWSVM for Strip Steel Surface Defects

Considering strip steel surface defect samples, a multi-class classification method was proposed based on enhanced least squares twin support vector machines （ELS-TWSVMs） and binary tree. Firstly, pruning region samples center method with adjustable pruning scale was used to prune data samples. This method could reduce classifierr s training time and testing time. Secondly, ELS-TWSVM was proposed to classify the data samples. By introducing error variable contribution parameter and weight parameter, ELS-TWSVM could restrain the impact of noise sam- ples and have better classification accuracy. Finally, multi-class classification algorithms of ELS-TWSVM were pro- posed by combining ELS-TWSVM and complete binary tree. Some experiments were made on two-dimensional data- sets and strip steel surface defect datasets. The experiments showed that the multi-class classification methods of ELS-TWSVM had higher classification speed and accuracy for the datasets with large-scale, unbalanced and noise samples.

Since the mechanisms of methane-mudstone interactions are important for estimating shale gas reserves,methane adsorption under supercritical conditions of 30 MPa pressure and 303.15,333.15,363.15 K temperatures was studied to measure the excess methane adsorption in two mudstone samples from Yanchang Formation,Ordos *** adsorption features inflection points where the amount of adsorbed gas changes from increasing to decreasing *** methods(fixed,slope,and freely fitted density)were applied to calculate the adsorbed-phase density(rad),which was then used to fit the measured excess *** criteria,the goodness-of-fit and whether the fitting can obtain reasonable absolute adsorption,were applied to determine the most accurate *** indicated that the supercritical Dubinin-Radushkevich(SDR)model with freely fitted rad was the most reasonable *** volume of adsorbed methane at 363.15 K is close to the micropore(d<2 nm)volume of the corresponding *** the actual geological conditions,the adsorbed gas should be predominantly stored in *** parameters reveal that the methane adsorption on mudstone is a physisorption process that is jointly controlled by the heterogeneity of,and interaction forces between the methane molecule and,the rock surface.

In this paper,we introduce different forms of mobility into a quantitative phase-field model to produce arbitrary Ehrlich-Schwoebel(ES)*** studies were carried out in the one-side step-flow model,which showed that the original mobility not only induces the ES effect,but also leads to larger numerical instability with increase of the step ***,another modified form of the ES barrier is proposed,and is found to be more suitable for large-scale *** applications were performed on the wedding-cake structure,coarsening and coalescence of islands and spiral *** results show that the ES barrier exhibits more significant kinetic effects at the larger deposition rates by limiting motions of atoms on upper steps,leading to aggregation on the top layers,as well as the roughening of growing surfaces.
