Estimation of pollutant sources in multi-zone buildings through different deconvolution algorithms

Effective identification of pollution sources is particularly important for indoor air quality.Accurate estimation of source strength is the basis for source effective identification.This paper proposes an optimization method for the deconvolution process in the source strength inverse calculation.In the scheme,the concept of time resolution was defined,and combined with different filtering positions and filtering algorithms.The measures to reduce effects of measurement noise were quantitatively analyzed.Additionally,the performances of nine deconvolution inverse algorithms under experimental and simulated conditions were evaluated and scored.The hybrid algorithms were proposed and compared with single algorithms including Tikhonov regularization and iterative methods.Results showed that for the filtering position and algorithm,Butterworth filtering performed better,and different filtering positions had little effect on the inverse calculation.For the calculation time step,the optimal Tr(time resolution)was 0.667%and 1.33%in the simulation and experiment,respectively.The hybrid algorithms were found to not perform better than the single algorithms,and the SART(simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique)algorithm from CAT(computer assisted tomography)yielded better performances in the accuracy and stability of source strength identification.The relative errors of the inverse calculation for source strength were typically below 25%using the optimization scheme.

Stem cell-based tissue engineering has provided a promising platform for repairing of bone defects.However,the use of exogenous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)still faces many challenges such as limited sources and potential risks.It is important to develop new approach to effectively recruit endogenous BMSCs and capture them for in situ bone regeneration.Here,we designed an acoustically responsive scaffold(ARS)and embedded it into SDF-1/BMP-2 loaded hydrogel to obtain biomimetic hydrogel scaffold complexes(BSC).The SDF-1/BMP-2 cytokines can be released on demand from the BSC implanted into the defected bone via pulsed ultrasound(p-US)irradiation at optimized acoustic parameters,recruiting the endogenous BMSCs to the bone defected or BSC site.Accompanied by the daily p-US irradiation for 14 days,the alginate hydrogel was degraded,resulting in the exposure of ARS to these recruited host stem cells.Then another set of sinusoidal continuous wave ultrasound(s-US)irradiation was applied to excite the ARS intrinsic resonance,forming highly localized acoustic field around its surface and generating enhanced acoustic trapping force,by which these recruited endogenous stem cells would be captured on the scaffold,greatly promoting them to adhesively grow for in situ bone tissue regeneration.Our study provides a novel and effective strategy for in situ bone defect repairing through acoustically manipulating endogenous BMSCs.

The review article entitled"Exosomes as potential diagnosis and treatment for liver cancer"recently published in World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology 2022;14:334-347 concluded that exosomes can be used as effective biomarkers or therapeutic biotargets in liver cancer.Exosomes are a hot spot in the field of tumor diagnosis and treatment research.We had also previously published a review on exosomes and tumors.In this letter to the editor,we summarize the clinical application prospects and current challenges of exosomes.

BACKGROUND Developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH)is a common osteoarticular deformity in pediatric orthopedics.A patient with bilateral DDH was diagnosed and treated using our improved technique"(powerful overturning acetabuloplasty)"combined with femoral rotational shortening osteotomy.CASE SUMMARY A 4-year-old girl who was diagnosed with bilateral DDH could not stand normally,and sought surgical treatment to solve the problem of double hip extension and standing.As this child had high dislocation of the hip joint and the acetabular index was high,we changed the traditional acetabuloplasty to"powerful turnover acetabuloplasty"combined with femoral rotation shortening osteotomy.During the short-term postoperative follow-up(1,3,6,9,12,and 15 months),the child had no discomfort in her lower limbs.After the braces and internal fixation plates were removed,formal rehabilitation training was actively carried out.CONCLUSION Our"powerful overturning acetabuloplasty"combined with femoral rotational shortening osteotomy is feasible in the treatment of DDH in children.This technology may be widely used in the clinic.

BACKGROUND Cell division cyclin 25C(CDC25C)is a protein that plays a critical role in the cell cycle,specifically in the transition from the G2 phase to the M phase.Recent research has shown that CDC25C could be a potential therapeutic target for cancers,particularly for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,the specific regulatory mechanisms underlying the role of CDC25C in HCC tumorigenesis and development remain incompletely understood.AIM To explore the impact of CDC25C on cell proliferation and apoptosis,as well as its regulatory mechanisms in HCC development.METHODS Hepa1-6 and B16 cells were transduced with a lentiviral vector containing shRNA interference sequences(LV-CDC25C shRNA)to knock down CDC25C.Subsequently,a xenograft mouse model was established by subcutaneously injecting transduced Hepa1-6 cells into C57BL/6 mice to assess the effects of CDC25C knockdown on HCC development in vivo.Cell proliferation and migration were evaluated using a Cell Counting Kit-8 cell proliferation assays and wound healing assays,respectively.The expression of endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress-related molecules(glucose-regulated protein 78,X-box binding protein-1,and C/EBP homologous protein)was measured in both cells and subcutaneous xenografts using quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR)and western blotting.Additionally,apoptosis was investigated using flow cytometry,qRT-PCR,and western blotting.RESULTS CDC25C was stably suppressed in Hepa1-6 and B16 cells through LV-CDC25C shRNA transduction.A xenograft model with CDC25C knockdown was successfully established and that downregulation of CDC25C expression significantly inhibited HCC growth in mice.CDC25C knockdown not only inhibited cell proliferation and migration but also significantly increased the ER stress response,ultimately promoting ER stress-induced apoptosis in HCC cells.CONCLUSION The regulatory mechanism of CDC25C in HCC development may involve the activation of ER stress and the ER stress-induced apoptosis signaling pathway.

In airborne gamma ray spectrum processing,different analysis methods,technical requirements,analysis models,and calculation methods need to be established.To meet the engineering practice requirements of airborne gamma-ray measurements and improve computational efficiency,an improved shuffled frog leaping algorithm-particle swarm optimization convolutional neural network(SFLA-PSO CNN)for large-sample quantitative analysis of airborne gamma-ray spectra is proposed herein.This method was used to train the weight of the neural network,optimize the structure of the network,delete redundant connections,and enable the neural network to acquire the capability of quantitative spectrum processing.In full-spectrum data processing,this method can perform the functions of energy spectrum peak searching and peak area calculations.After network training,the mean SNR and RMSE of the spectral lines were 31.27 and 2.75,respectively,satisfying the demand for noise reduction.To test the processing ability of the algorithm in large samples of airborne gamma spectra,this study considered the measured data from the Saihangaobi survey area as an example to conduct data spectral analysis.The results show that calculation of the single-peak area takes only 0.13~0.15 ms,and the average relative errors of the peak area in the U,Th,and K spectra are 3.11,9.50,and 6.18%,indicating the high processing efficiency and accuracy of this algorithm.The performance of the model can be further improved by optimizing related parameters,but it can already meet the requirements of practical engineering measurement.This study provides a new idea for the full-spectrum processing of airborne gamma rays.

Objective To uncover the mechanisms underlying the development of colorectal cancer(CRC),we applied bioinformatic analyses to identify key genes and experimentally validated their possible roles in CRC onset and progression.Methods We performed Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis on differentially expressed genes(DEGs),constructed a protein-protein interaction(PPI)network to find the top 10 hub genes,and analyzed their expression in colon adenocarcinoma(COAD)and rectum adenocarcinoma(READ).We also studied the correlation between these genes and immune cell infiltration and prognosis and validated the expression of SLC9A2 in CRC tissues and cell lines using qRT-PCR and Western blotting.Functional experiments were conducted in vitro to investigate the effects of SLC9A2 on tumor growth and metastasis.Results We found 130 DEGs,with 45 up-regulated and 85 down-regulated in CRC.GO analysis indicated that these DEGs were primarily enriched in functions related to the regulation of cellular pH,zymogen granules,and transmembrane transporter activity.KEGG pathway analysis revealed that the DEGs played pivotal roles in pancreatic secretion,rheumatoid arthritis,and the IL-17 signaling pathway.We identified 10 hub genes:CXCL1,SLC26A3,CXCL2,MMP7,MMP1,SLC9A2,SLC4A4,CLCA1,CLCA4,and ZG16.GO enrichment analysis showed that these hub genes were predominantly involved in the positive regulation of transcription.Gene expression analysis revealed that CXCL1,CXCL2,MMP1,and MMP7 were highly expressed in CRC,whereas CLCA1,CLCA4,SLC4A4,SLC9A2,SLC26A3,and ZG16 were expressed at lower levels.Survival analysis revealed that 5 key genes were significantly associated with the prognosis of CRC.Both mRNA and protein expression levels of SLC9A2 were markedly reduced in CRC tissues and cell lines.Importantly,SLC9A2 overexpression in SW480 cells led to a notable inhibition of cell proliferation,migration,and invasion.Western blotting analysis revealed that the expression levels of phosphorylated ERK(p-

The control of microstructure during hot rolling process of steel is of great importance and will affect the properties of the steel products.According to the production line,a three-dimensional multi-field coupled finite element model of 24-pass continuous hot rolling process of 38CrMoAl steel rod is established using the finite element software MSC.Marc.Based on the recrystallization kinetics model and the grain growth model,a subroutine written in Fortran is introduced to calculate the recrystallization behavior and microstructure evolution of 38CrMoAl steel during the entire rolling process.The distribution and evolution of variables such as strain,temperature and recrystallization fractions during the rolling process are analyzed.The temperature variations and grain sizes at both the center and surface of the tested steel are compared with the experimental results.And it is found that the simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental ones,confirming the reliability of the established model.

Simultaneously realizing the optical and electrical properties of organic materials is always challenging.Herein,a convenient and promising strategy for designing organic materials with integrated optoelectronic properties based on cocrystal engineering has been put forward.By selecting the fluorene(Flu)and the 7,7′,8,8′-tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ)as functional constituents,the Flu-TCNQ cocrystal prepared shows deep red emission at 702 nm,which is comparable to the commercialized red quantum dot.The highest electron mobility of organic field-effect transistor(OFET)based on Flu-TCNQ is 0.32 cm^(2)V^(−1)s^(−1).Spectroscopic analysis indicates that the intermolecular driving force contributing to the co-assembly of Flu-TCNQ is mainly charge transfer(CT)interaction,which leads to its different optoelectronic properties from constituents.
