Neuropathy optic glaucomatosa induced by systemic hypertension through activation endothelin-1 signaling pathway in central retinal artery in rats

AIM： To evaluate effect of hypertension on retinal ganglion cell（RGC） apoptosis, intraocular pressure（IOP）,and the activation of endothelin-1（ET-1） signaling pathway in central retinal artery（CRA） in ***： The experimental study was performed on20 male Sprague Dawley rats that were divided into control group, and hypertension groups. The hypertension was induced by subcutaneous deoxycorticoacetate（DOCA）10 mg/kg twice a week and administered 0.9% Na Cl solution daily for 2, 6, and 10 wk. Blood pressure（BP） was measured using animal BP analyzer. IOP was measured by handheld tonometry. Retinal tissue preparations by paraffin blocks were made after enucleation. The expression of ET-1, e NOS, ET-1 receptor A（ETRA）, ET-1receptor B（ETRB）, and phosphorylated myosin light chain kinase（MLCK）, and caldesmon（Ca D） in CRA and RGC apoptosis were evaluated through immunofluorescent staining method then observed using laser scanning confocal microscopy. RESULTS： BP significantly increased in all of the hypertension groups compared to control（P =0.001）.Peak IOP elevation（7.78±4.14 mm Hg） and RGC apoptosis（576.15±33.28 Au） occurred on 2wk of hypertension. ET-1expression（1238.6±55.1 Au） and e NOS expression（2814.2±70.7 Au） were found highest in 2wk of hypertension,although the ratio of ET-1/e NOS decreased since *** peak expression in 10 wk of hypertension（1219.4 ±6.3 Au）, while ETRBsignificantly increased only in 2 weeks group（1069.2 ±9.6 Au）. The highest MLCK expression（1190.09±58.32 Au）, Ca D（1670.28±18.36 Au）were also found in 2wk of ***： Hypertension effects to activation of ET-1 signaling pathway significantly in CRA, elevation of IOP, and RGC apoptosis. The highest value was achieved at 2wk, which is the development phase of hypertension.

Forecasts of cosmological constraints from HI intensity mapping with FAST,BINGO and SKA-I

We forecast the cosmological constraints of the neutral hydrogen(HI) intensity mapping(IM)technique with radio telescopes by assuming 1-year of observational time. The current and future radio telescopes that we consider here are Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST), Baryon acoustic oscillations In Neutral Gas Observations(BINGO), and Square Kilometre Array phase Ⅰ(SKA-Ⅰ) single-dish experiments. We also forecast the combined constraints of the three radio telescopes with Planck. We find that the 1σ errors of(w0, wa) for BINGO, FAST and SKA-Ⅰ with respect to the fiducial values are respectively,(0.9293, 3.5792),(0.4083, 1.5878) and(0.3158, 0.4622). This is equivalent to(56.04%, 55.64%) and(66.02%, 87.09%) improvements in constraining(w0, wa) for FAST and SKA-Ⅰ respectively relative to BINGO. Simulations further show that SKA-Ⅰ will put more stringent constraints than both FAST and BINGO when each of the experiments is combined with Planck measurements. The 1σ errors for(w0, wa), BINGO + Planck, FAST + Planck and SKA-Ⅰ + Planck covariance matrices are respectively(0.0832, 0.3520),(0.0791, 0.3313) and(0.0678, 0.2679) implying there is an improvement in(w0, wa) constraints of(4.93%, 5.88%) for FAST + Planck relative to BINGO + Planck and an improvement of(18.51%, 23.89%) in constraining(w0, wa) for SKA-Ⅰ + Planck relative to BINGO + Planck. We also compared the performance of Planck data plus each single-dish experiment relative to Planck alone,and find that the reduction in(w0, wa) 1σ errors for each experiment plus Planck, respectively, imply the(w0, wa) constraints improvement of(22.96%, 8.45%),(26.76%, 13.84%) and(37.22%, 30.33%) for BINGO + Planck, FAST + Planck and SKA-Ⅰ + Planck relative to Planck alone. For the nine cosmological parameters in consideration, we find that there is a trade-off between SKA-Ⅰ and FAST in constraining cosmological parameters, with each experiment being more superior in constraining a particular set of parameter

Cytotoxic effect of Spirulina platensis extracts on human acute leukemia Kasumi-1 and chronic myelogenous leukemia K-562 cell lines

Objective: To evaluate the cytotoxic effects of Spirulina platensis extracts on acute leukemia Kasumi-1 and chronic leukemia K-562 cancer cell ***: Various concentrations of Spirulina platensis extracts(0.25–50.00 mg/m L)obtained with different solvents were used to treat cell lines for 72 h. For cytotoxic effect studies, cell viability test with trypan blue solution, MTT assay and microscopic cytomorphological assessment were ***: Spirulina extract obtained with 70% ethanol showed significant cytotoxicity in K562 and Kasumi-1 cell lines. With trypan blue solution, IC_(50) values were found to be4.64 mg/m L for K-562 and 3.68 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines. Spirulina aqueous extract also showed cytotoxicity with trypan blue method, at a slightly higher dose; where IC_(50) values were 12.68 mg/m L for K-562 and 2.13 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines. The IC_(50) values were found 0.40 mg/m L for K-562 and 0.31 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines for the 70% ethanol extract according to the MTT assay. Spirulina extract obtained with water also showed cytotoxicity but the dose was a little higher where IC_(50) values were15.77 mg/m L for K-562 and 9.44 mg/m L for Kusumi-1 cell lines. The effect of cytotoxicity with ethanol extract is quite comparable with that observed for cyclophosphamide, which is a chemical used as anticancer ***: The cytotoxicity exhibited by Spirulina extract to cancer cell lines might be due to the presence of phytopigments(carotenoids, chlorophyll, phycocyanin) as well as polysaccharides that were reported previously as constituents of the extract. So crude extracts of Spirulina can be used as a source to develop anticancer drugs.

针对已分离的植物乳杆菌L12和L20通过体外和体内两种方法进行安全性评价。通过体外实验测定乳酸水解活性抗生素敏感性,胆盐水解酶活性,D-乳酸含量,γ溶血等指标;体内实验是对小鼠进行短期口服毒性的研究,口服0.2 mL(109 CFU/mL)的实验性细菌溶液30 d。结果表明,体外实验中,两株菌株均具有良好的抗氧化活性,对抗生素敏感性高,胆盐水解酶活性高,D-乳酸含量低,γ溶血;体内实验中灌胃给药对治疗小鼠的生长、行为、摄食量、器官重量或组织病理学分析均无不良影响。与对照组相比,益生菌组小鼠血清MDA浓度和肝脏GSH含量差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。这些结果表明,菌株L12和L20是非致病性的,人直接食用是安全的。

Indigenous Knowledge, Practices, Beliefs and Social Impacts of Porcine Cysticercosis and Epilepsy in Iringa Rural

Porcine Cysticercosis (PCC) and Human Cysticercosis (HCC)/Neurocysticercosis (NCC) are a burden to the community owing to the reduced value of animals, associated costs of treatment, decreased labour productivity and social discrimination. There is limited knowledge on the management and prevention of PCC and epilepsy in Iringa rural. Therefore, the present study aimed at assessing indigenous knowledge, practices, attitudes and social impacts of PCC and epilepsy in Iringa rural district. A total of 588 people participated in the survey whereby 306 were pig farmers, 223 non-pig farmers and 59 families with epileptic individuals. It was found that 49.8% (χ2 = 0.003, DF = 1, p = 0.954) of pig keepers were aware of PCC, whereas the remaining 50.2% were not aware (χ2 = 25.5, DF = 1, p χ2 = 3.814, DF = 1, p = 0.51). People in Iringa rural believe epilepsy is caused by evil spirits, witchcraft and/or inheritance. It was concluded that there was limited knowledge on T. solium cysticercosis and epilepsy. This ignorance is the cause of poor practices, negative beliefs and attitudes that negatively affect the social life of People with Epilepsy (PWE) in communities. This study recommends that health education to raise awareness on cysticercosis/taeniosis and epilepsy should be one of the intervention measures for elimination of cysticercosis and epilepsy in Iringa rural district.

Stochastic Dynamics of Cholera Epidemic Model: Formulation, Analysis and Numerical Simulation

In this paper, we describe the two different stochastic differential equations representing cholera dynamics. The first stochastic differential equation is formulated by introducing the stochasticity to deterministic model by parametric perturbation technique which is a standard technique in stochastic modeling and the second stochastic differential equation is formulated using transition probabilities. We analyse a stochastic model using suitable Lyapunov function and Itôformula. We state and prove the conditions for global existence, uniqueness of positive solutions, stochastic boundedness, global stability in probability, moment exponential stability, and almost sure convergence. We also carry out numerical simulation using Euler-Maruyama scheme to simulate the sample paths of stochastic differential equations. Our results show that the sample paths are continuous but not differentiable (a property of Wiener process). Also, we compare the numerical simulation results for deterministic and stochastic models. We find that the sample path of SIsIaR-B stochastic differential equations model fluctuates within the solution of the SIsIaR-B ordinary differential equation model. Furthermore, we use extended Kalman filter to estimate the model compartments (states), we find that the state estimates fit the measurements. Maximum likelihood estimation method for estimating the model parameters is also discussed.

The remarkable push of technologies increasingly recommends materials for their *** the extraction of alumina is for different *** exploitation of bauxite pollutes the surrounding areas in this case the discharge of mud ***,the excessive use of dangerous conventional synthetic insecticides continues to be in circulation in Cameroon despite the known adverse *** problems lead us to formulate bio insecticides from rejection of the extraction of alumina and extracts of *** and Citrus sinensis which respectively offer us essential oils eugenol and limonene having insecticidal properties against the main insects,pests of corn stocks,Sitophilus *** the kinetic point of view of the adsorption of the extracts of eugenol,limonene and their association by the red mud,the adsorption curve shows that the Eu/Li mixture(30/70)is better by 0.36 mg/g during the 24 *** results showed a high toxicity of the Eu-Li binary mixture of ratio 30/70 with respective mortality rates of 95.88%after 8 days of exposure to the concentration of 5 mL/L on the adults of Sitophilus *** other composites induce an average rate of 80%.The results from the physicochemical analysis of corn before and after treatment with formulated insecticides showed a slight loss in nutritional quality of 14.90%in ash,12.5%in protein,16.14%in lipids and 13.63%in total sugars for 180 *** powdery formulation from red mud and Eu-Li(30/70)mixture can therefore ensure the protection of corn stocks against Sitophilus zeamais in a farming environment.
