Testicular germ cell tumors(TGCTs)are a cancer pharmacology success story with a majority of patients cured even in the highly advanced and metastatic *** treatment of TGCTs is primarily due to the exquisite responsiveness of this solid tumor to cisplatin-based ***,a significant percentage of patients are,or become,refractory to cisplatin and die from progressive *** for both clinical hypersensitivity and resistance have largely remained a mystery despite the promise of applying lessons to the majority of solid tumors that are not curable in the metastatic ***,this promise has been heightened by the realization that distinct(and perhaps pharmacologically replicable)epigenetic states,rather than fixed genetic alterations,may play dominant roles in not only TGCT etiology and progression but also their curability with conventional *** this review,it discusses potential mechanisms of TGCT cisplatin sensitivity and resistance to conventional chemotherapeutics.

Human actions rather than natural forces are the source of most contemporary changes in the state and flows of the biosphere. Understanding these actions and the social forces that drive them is crucial to understanding, modelling and predicting local, regional as well as global environmental change and also for managing and responding to such change. The present study investigates the patterns of urban land transformation in Srinagar City, which lies in fragile hill eco-system of Kashmir valley. The results points towards unplanned and haphazard urban expansion and transformation. These transformations have severely destroyed the water bodies both in terms of area as well as its quality.

HCV infection in children is different from the adult infection in many ways like natural course of the disease;duration, therapeutic response and side effects profile of the drug therapy;and prognosis. Special considerations include what is the appropriate time to investigate a suspected child, when to institute and choice of drug therapy and how to prevent vertical transmission. In this article, based on the current evidence suggested guidelines for the diagnosis and management of chronic HCV infection in children is given. Feedback to help improve/modify these recommendations by those experienced in dealing with the children will be welcome.

A falling weight deflectometer is a testing device used in civil engineering to measure and evaluate the physical properties of pavements,such as the modulus of the subgrade reaction(Y1)and the elastic modulus of the slab(Y2),which are crucial for assessing the structural strength of *** this study,we developed a novel hybrid artificial intelligence model,i.e.,a genetic algorithm(GA)-optimized adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS-GA),to predict Y1 and Y2 based on easily determined 13 parameters of rigid *** performance of the novel ANFIS-GA model was compared to that of other benchmark models,namely logistic regression(LR)and radial basis function regression(RBFR)*** models were validated using standard statistical measures,namely,the coefficient of correlation(R),mean absolute error(MAE),and root mean square error(RMSE).The results indicated that the ANFIS-GA model was the best at predicting Y1(R=0.945)and Y2(R=0.887)compared to the LR and RBFR ***,the ANFIS-GA model can be used to accurately predict Y1 and Y2 based on easily measured parameters for the appropriate and rapid assessment of the quality and strength of pavements.

Olefin epoxidation is an essential transformation and arouses great interest among the scientific community for the key role of epoxide in the chemical *** methods suffer from harmful oxidants and require harsh operating conditions and complex separation ***-epoxidation through bromine redox reactions is an eco-friendly ***,the lack of efficient electrodes always limits the selectivity of epoxidation and results in massive energy ***,we found that GF-CoS_(2)/CoS heterostructures anchored on graphite felt(GF-CoS_(2)/CoS)can efficiently facilitate the generation of bromine redox species on the *** synergistic cooperation between the bromine redox species and oxygen redox species(generated on a graphite rod cathode)can establish a benign electro-epoxidation system for olefin substrates in an ambient *** the optimized reaction conditions,the epoxidation of styrene can achieve a yield of 97% at 30 mA cm^(-2).Importantly,the applied voltage(4-5 V)is roughly half of the Pt-based electrode system(7.8-9.3 V),hence,saving half of the *** demonstrated that our proposed strategy could also be applied to other *** of the simple,sustainable,and economic advantages of the epoxidation process,we believe this strategy is highly desirable for technical applications.

The increasing population and economic activities are putting pressure on the available land resources. Human population and their use of land have transformed the terrestrial biosphere into anthropogenic biomes (anthromes). The present study analyses the urban land use/cover change and land transformation in Srinagar city which is located in the valley of the hill state of Jammu and Kashmir. A change detection analysis was performed to determine the nature, extent and rate of land use/cover change and transformation over 30 years of time period. The results show that the city has expanded significantly at the cost of non built-up land which has decreased in its area. Significantly there was not only the expansion of city area but also there were interchange of land between different land use/cover classes in the study area.

A Bose–Einstein condensate with a large atom number is an important experimental platform for quantum simulation and quantum information *** optical dipole trap is the a conventional way to hold the ultracold atoms,where an atomic cloud is evaporatively cooled down before reaching the Bose–Einstein condensate.A carefully designed trap depth controlling curve is typically required to realize the optimal evaporation *** present and demonstrate a simple way to optimize the evaporation cooling in a crossed optical dipole trap.A polyline shape optical power control profile is easily obtained with our method,by which a pure Bose–Einstein condensate with atom number 1.73×10^5 is ***,we numerically simulate the optimal evaporation cooling using the parameters of our apparatus based on a kinetic *** to the simulation results,our evaporation cooling shows a good *** believe that our simple method can be used to quickly realize evaporation cooling in optical dipole traps.

Fuzziness or uncertainties arise due to insufficient knowledge,experimental errors,operating conditions and parameters that provide inaccurate *** concepts of susceptible,infectious and recovered are uncertain due to the different degrees in susceptibility,infectivity and recovery among the individuals of the *** differences can arise,when the population groups under the consideration having distinct habits,customs and different age groups have different degrees of resistance,*** realistic models are needed which consider these different degrees of susceptibility infectivity and recovery of the *** this paper,a Susceptible,Infected and Recovered(SIR)epidemic model with fuzzy parameters is *** infection,recovery and death rates due to the disease are considered as fuzzy *** basic reproduction number and fuzzy equilibrium points have been derived for the studied *** is then solved numerically with three different techniques,forward Euler,Runge-Kutta fourth order method(RK-4)and the nonstandard finite difference(NSFD)methods *** NSFD technique becomes more efficient and reliable among the others and preserves all the essential features of a continuous dynamical system.
