This paper reports the molecular assembly in the LB film of a novel bolaamphiphilic anthracene derivative (BISANS) in comparison with that of one-headed amphiphilic anthracene derivative (ANS). While ANS formed a stretched monolayer at the air/water interface, BISANS underwent aggregation to form crystal film on the water surface. Both of the H-aggregates and J-aggregates exist in the transferred LB films of bolaamphiphilic BISANS, only J-aggregates formed in the LB film of ANS.

THE conversion of visible light to electricity using semiconductors as light absorbers has beenan important area of research for many years. In the 1970s, highly efficient photovoltaiccells based on silicon were developed (the light-to-electrical conversion efficiency≥25%),which provides energy to aircrafts. Then semiconductor liquid-junction photoelectrochemicalcell started to be investigated. Generally speaking, highly efficient liquid-junction photoelec-trochemical solar cells can be obtained by using semiconductors such as Si, GaAs and WSe.(band gap≈(1.3±0.3) eV). Aim: To present a personal account of the involvement of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the collaborativedevelopment in Asia of those areas of andrology concerned with male contraception and reproductive ***: The andrology training through workshops and institution support undertaken by the WHO HumanReproduction Programme (HRP) and how they contributed to the strengthening of andrology research in Asia aresummarised. Results: The author's experience and the Asian scientific contributions to the global research in thefollowing areas are reviewed: the safety of vasectomy and the development of new methods of vas occlusion; gossypoland its failure to become a safe, reversible male antifertility drag; Tripterygium and whether its pure extracts will passthrough the appropriate toxicology and phased clinical studies to become acceptable contraceptive drugs; hormonalmethods of contraception for men. Conclusion: The WHO policy of research capacity building through training andinstitution strengthening, together with the collaboration of Asian andrologists, has created strong National institutionsnow able to direct their own programmes of research in clinical and scientific andrology.

Connecting occupants to the outdoor environment and incorporating biophilic design principles are challenging in extreme Arctic climatic *** Arctic housing models do not provide efficient thermal and daylight transitions which are essential for the well-being and cultural needs of their *** address these challenges,this research develops free-running biophilic intermediate spaces,integrated into an existing Arctic housing *** simulation methods are employed to optimize the primary and secondary architectural design variables for 26 case studies of intermediate *** variables include volume,transparency ratio,and *** variables include materials and physical ***,Daylight Factor/Autonomy,and Energy Use are evaluated as performance *** reveal that free-running intermediate spaces with 6 meters depth and a transparency ratio above 50%provide efficient indoor–outdoor transitions regarding thermal,visual,and energy *** architectural configurations contribute to an approximately 5%reduction in energy consumption within the housing unit compared to the *** side windows prevents the risk of overheating during the summer by reducing the average indoor temperature of intermediate spaces by 7°C but increases the overall energy *** a potential alternative to double-glazing,polycarbonate sheets enable efficient thermal performance by increasing the average indoor temperature of intermediate spaces by approximately 15°C during the cold Arctic *** polycarbonate sheets results in a 16.6%reduction in energy consumption compared to using double-glazing material in intermediate space,and a 26%reduction from the *** outcomes contribute to efficient indoor–outdoor connections and energy efficiency in Arctic housing.

A novel electrocatalysis, ferrous ion catalyzed anodic-cathodic electrocatalysis (FACEC), was developed for organic pollutants degradation, which could promote the degradation by achieving synergetic effects of both anodic oxidation and cathodic indirect oxidation. The degradation rate of model pollutants - phenol by FACEC could increase by nearly 30% comparing with that of anodic electrocatalysis, and the current efficiency could reach 67%.

A magnetically stabilized fluidized bed (MSB) is a highly efficient filter that takes the advantage of both fluidized beds and fixed beds. This paper presents the research to collect aerosol in airflow with a MSB. The filtering model of MSB is established with its parameters including magnetic Geld intensity, gas superficial velocity, average grain-size, and bed height on the collection efficiency of MSB. The model is verified by experiments.
