Radiation therapy(RT)is considered one of the cornerstone modalities of treatment for different cancer types.The preparation and delivery of RT requires a number of staff members from different disciplines within the radiation oncology department.Since the emergence of the corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,RT,similar to other cancer care modalities,has been adapted to minimize patient and staff exposure without compromising the oncological outcomes.This was reflected in the dramatic practice changes that occurred in the past year to address the lockdown restrictions and fulfill the infection control requirements.RT practices differ across regions based on financial and training levels,and developing countries with limited resources have struggled to maintain radiation treatment services at a level equivalent to that in developed countries while following pandemic control guidelines.The response during the COVID-19 pandemic varied between developing countries according to the infection rate and RT technological capabilities.In this editorial,we review recently published articles addressing radiotherapy practice reports during the COVID-19 pandemic in developing countries.

In this paper,we study in a constructive way the stabilization problem of fractional bilinear systems with multiple inputs.Using the quadratic Lyapunov functions and some additional hypotheses on the unit sphere,we construct stabilizing feedback laws for the considered fractional bilinear system.A numerical example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained result.

A novel 6D dissipative model with an unstable equilibrium point is introduced herein.Some of the dynamic characteristics of the proposed model were explored via analyses and numerical simulations including critical points,stability,Lyapunov exponents,time phase portraits,and circuit implementation.Also,anti-synchronization phenomena were implemented on the new system.Firstly,the error dynamics is found.Then,four different controllers are adopted to stabilize this error relying on the nonlinear control technique with two main ways:linearization and Lyapunov stability theory.In comparison with previous works,the present controllers realize anti-synchronization based on another method/linearization method.Finally,a comparison between the two ways was made.The simulation results show the effectiveness and accuracy of the first analytical strategy.

This paper explores some design parameters of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor that contribute to enhancing motor performance.Various geometry parameters such as magnet dimension,machine diameter,stator teeth height,and number of poles are analyzed to compare overall torque,power,and torque ripples in order to select the best design parameters and their ranges.Pyleecan,an open-source software,is used to design and optimize the motor for electric vehicle applications.Following optimization with Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm(NSGA-Ⅱ),two designs A and B were obtained for two objective functions and the corresponding torque ripples values of the design A and B were later reduced by 32%and 77%.Additionally,the impact of different magnet grades on the output performances is analyzed.

The pulsed laser deposition(PLD)technology was used to effectively create conductive nano and micro hafnium oxide with great purity and transparency for(HfO_(2))nanofilms.In many optoelectronics devices and their applications,the presence of a high dielectric substance like a nano HfO2,between the metal contacts and the substrates was critical.We used the Pulsed Laser Deposition method to fabricate an Al/HfO_(2)/p-Si Schottky barrier diode where the nanostructured HfO2 films as an intermediate layer and varied substrate temperatures.The optical result reveals a high degree of transparency(93%).The optical bandgap of deposited HfO2 films was observed to vary between 4.9 and 5.3 eV,with a value of roughly 5.3 eV at the optimal preparation condition.The morphology of the surface shows a high homogeneous nano structure with the average values of the roughness about(0.3 nm).With regard to substrate temperature,the produced factor ideality for fabricated diode was determined to be lowering and the associated values of the barrier height rose based on I-Vcharacterization.With regard to substrate temperature,the produced factor ideality for fabricated diode was determined to be lowering and the associated values of the barrier height rose based on I-V characterization.The diode manufactured at 600℃,in particular,had a higher ideality factor value(n=3.2).

After wheat,rice,maize,and barley,sorghum is the fifth most widely grown cereal on the planet.Due to its high production,drought resistance,and heat tolerance,this crop is replacing maize in some areas.Sorghum is available in a variety of colors,including cream,lemon-yellow,red,and even black.The principal grain anatomical components are pericarp,germ or embryo and endosperm.This review provides an overview of key sorghum grain components,including starches,fiber,proteins,lipids,and vitamins.Also,we summarized phenolic compounds,flavonoids,tannins,carotenoids,vitamin E,amines,Policosanols and Phytosterols in sorghum grains.Sorghum is used to manufacture bread and porridge,and it provides a significant source of energy and nutrition for humans;sorghum is extensively farmed for animal feed.However,because the natural components in sorghum are useful in the development of healthy and functional foods,sorghum farming for both biofuel production and human consumption is gaining popularity.Pigmented sorghum grain is high in antioxidants such as polyphenols,primarily tannins,which have a variety of health benefits,including antiproliferative properties linked to the prevention of certain cancers,antioxidant activities linked to the prevention of diseases linked to oxidative stress,and anti-inflammatory effects,as well as improving glucose metabolism.Because these chemicals cannot be assimilated,their application in the food business has been limited,as sorghum is regarded as a lownutritional grain due to the presence of anti-nutritional components such as strong tannins,which form complexes with proteins and iron,limiting their digestibility.This review aims to show the utilization of sorghum as a source of bioactive chemicals and the value they bestow on human health due to the general biological potential it possesses.

Performance Evaluation of Bottom-Standing Submerged Breakwaters in Regular Waves Using the Meshless Singular Boundary Method

In this paper, the improved version of the meshless singular boundary method (ISBM) is developed for analyzing the hydrodynamic performance of bottom-standing submerged breakwaters in regular normally incident waves. Both the single and dual prismatic breakwaters of rectangular and trapezoidal forms are examined. Only the impermeable breakwaters are considered in this study. The physical problem is cast in terms of the Laplace equation governing an irrotational flow and incompressible fluid motion with the appropriate mixed-type boundary conditions, and it is solved numerically using the ISBM. The numerical results are presented in terms of the hydrodynamic quantities of reflection and transmission coefficients. The values are first validated against the data of previous studies, computed, and discussed for a variety of structural conditions, including the height, width, and spacing of breakwater submergence. An excellent agreement is observed between the ISBM results and those of other methods. The breakwater width is found to feature marginal effects compared with the height. The present method is shown to accurately predict the resonant conditions at which the maximum reflection and transmission occur. The trapezoidal breakwaters are found to generally present a wide spectrum of reflections, suggesting that they would function better than the rectangular breakwaters. The dual breakwater systems are confirmed to perform much better than single structures.

Objective:To evaluate in vitro immunomodulating properties and potential cytotoxicity of six tropical medicinal herbs and food plants namely Antidesma madagascariense(Euphorbiaceae) (AM),Erylhroxylum macrocarpum(Erythroxylaceae)(EM),Faujasiopsis flexuosa(Asteraceae) (FF),Pittosporum senacia(Pittosporaceae)(PS),Momordica charantia(Cucurbitaceae)(MC) and Orimum tenuiflorum(Lamiaceae)(Of).Methods:Initially,the crude water and methanol extracts were probed for their capacity to trigger immune cells’ NADPH oxidase and MPO-dependent activities as measured by lucigenin- and luminol-amplified chemiluminescence,respectively; as compared to receptor-dependent(serum opsonised zymosan- OPZ) or receptor-independent phorbol myristerate acetate(PMA).Results:Preliminary screening on whole human blood oxidative buret activity showed significant and concentration-dependent immunomodulating properties of three plants AM,FF and OT.Further investigations of the fractions on isolated human polymorphonuclear cells(PMNs) and mice monocytes using two different pathways for activation of phagocytic oxidative burst showed that ethyl acetate fraction was the most potent extract. None of the active samples had cell-death effects on human PMNs,under the assay conditions as determined by the trypan-blue exclusion assay.Since PMA and OPZ NADPH oxidase complex is activated via different transduction pathways,these results suggest that AM,FF and OT does not affect a specific transductional pathway,but rather directly inhibit a final common biochemical target such as the NADPH oxidase enzyme and/or scavenges ROS.Conclusions:Our findings suggest that some of these plants extracts/fractions were able to modulate significantly immune response of phagocytes and monocytes at different steps,emphasizing their potential as a source of new natural alternative immunomodulatory agents.

A significant fraction of the conventional oil reserves globally is in carbonate formations which contain a substantial amount of residual oil. Since primary and secondary recovery methods fail to yield above 20%-40%of original oil in place from these reserves, the need for enhanced oil recovery（EOR） techniques for incremental oil recovery has become imperative. With the challenges presented by the highly heterogeneous carbonate rocks,evaluation of tertiary-stage recovery techniques including chemical EOR（c EOR） has been a high priority for researchers and oil producers. In this review, the latest developments in the surfactant-based c EOR techniques applied in carbonate formations are discussed, contemplating the future direction of existing methodologies. In connection with this, the characteristics of heterogeneous carbonate reservoirs are outlined. Detailed discussion on surfactant-led oil recovery mechanisms and related processes, such as wettability alteration, interfacial tension reduction, microemulsion phase behavior, surfactant adsorption and mitigation, and foams and their applications is presented. Laboratory experiments, as well as field study data obtained using several surfactants, are also included.This extensive discussion on the subject aims to help researchers and professionals in the field to understand the current situation and plan future enterprises accordingly.
