In this study, the biosorption of copper and zinc ions by Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. isolated from local environments in Malaysia was investigated in a batch system and by microscopic a.alyses. Under optimal biosorption conditions, the biosorption capacity of Chlorella sp. for copper and zinc ions was 33.4 and 28.5 mg/g, respectively, after 6 hr of biosorption in an immobilised system. Batch experiments showed that the biosorption capacity of algal biomass immobilised in the form of sodium alginate beads was higher than that of the free biomass. Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy a.alyses revealed that copper and zinc were mainly sorbed at the cell surface during biosorption. Exposure to 5 mg/L of copper and zinc affected both the chlorophyll content and cell count of the algal cells after the first 12 hr of contact time.

目的:评估以不同的方法治疗病毒性结膜炎并发症泪小点及泪小管闭塞的疗效。方法:此回顾性群组研究共纳入35例临床确诊为感染病毒性结膜炎的患者,经治疗后完全缓解,4wk后并发泪小点闭塞。本研究采用了泪小点扩张术,穿孔硅胶泪小点栓子植入术,和Mini-Monoka硅胶管植入术对该35例泪小点闭塞患者进行治疗。结果:首先,单独采用泪小点扩张术对所有35例患者进行治疗,其中只有6例患者(17.14%)取得了满意的疗效。其次,采用穿孔泪小点栓子植入术对上述采用泪小点扩张术无效的患者进行治疗,有20例(57.14%)患者取得了较好的疗效。最后,采用Mini-Monoka管植入术对上述两种治疗方案都无效的患者进行治疗,有9例(25.71%)患者的病情取得了重大的改善。另外,通过对上述病例进行统计分析,结果表明该疾病的严重程度与MiniMonoka管的使用和是否双眼同时患病或者和上、下泪小点同时闭塞并无关联。结论:运用穿孔硅胶泪小点栓子能够有效治疗由病毒性结膜炎引起的泪小点闭塞。对分别经泪小点扩张术和穿孔硅胶泪小点栓子植入术治疗无效的患者,可采用MiniMonoka管植入术以取得良好的治疗效果。

A proposed circular patch antenna with notch-cut fed by a simple microstrip line is described in this paper. It is designed for ultra-wideband （UWB） wireless communications and applications over the band 3.1-10.6 GHz. This antenna consists of a circular patch with notch-cut fed by a microstrip line, one transition step, and a partial ground plane. The 2： l voltage standing wave ratio （VSWR） bandwidth （Sll 〈-10dB） of the proposed antenna covers the entire UWB application range specified by Federal Communications Commission （FCC） that is from 3.1 to 10.6GHz. The proposed antenna is able to achieve an impedance bandwidth about 8.6 GHz （2.4-11 GHz）. The return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern, radiation efficiency, gain, distribution of the proposed group delay, and current antenna are included in this paper. The simulation results and proposed antenna design details are presented by CST Microwave Studio.

The linguistic influence of the Korean Wave （Hallyu, which refers to the Korean pop and drama） on the language of International fans is that of a salient but not linguistically examined phenomenon. This study investigates the major aspects of this influence and the linguistic reasons behind its global prevalence. The practical part of this study is conducted on algerian Hallyu fans from which a sample of 139 participants responded to the questionnaire used as a research instrument for achieving the goal of this study. Findings reveal that Hallyu influence is widely spread in algeria, where by 98.5% of the participants declared the existence of this influence. This impact on participants＇ language starts from using Korean words in their daily discourse to using English words with an adapted Hallyu meaning and to naming phone contacts with the accurate Korean terms of kinship and endearment. Then, they start using linguistically odd inside jokes taken from Korean idols＇ and K-dramas＇ speech, employing Korean proverbs in their conversations, and gradually adopting a different pronunciation of some English sounds. Moreover, their language stands as a sample of Corpus Planning with two types： Modernization and Graphization. Some words are modernized in order to bridge the gap through Hallyu pals＇ communication with more precise words, while other words are graphitized for the sake of developing new terms or new meanings or to shorten long ones. This thesis contributes to the study of random language, generally, and to Hallyu language, specifically, as an aspect of Conversation a.alysis （CA）.

This study investigated the effect of a computerized program on tenth grade students＇ acquisition of English vocabulary. The study also examined if computer games stimulate and motivate EFL （English as a Foreign Language） learners to increase their vocabulary. Subject of the study were 150 students, drawn from ali Khoulki al-Sharari Secondary School for boys in Irbid the First Educational Directorate in the first semester of the academic year 2008/2009. A computerized program ＂Games＂ was used to measure students＇ acquisition of English vocabulary including four domains： conversation, synthesis, recall and preservation, and reading. Findings of the study revealed significant differences in means scores between experimental and control groups students, in favor of experimental group students, due to the instructional method used. Furthermore, students in the experimental group reported positive attitudes towards learning English vocabulary using computer games. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher suggested some recommendations and instructional implications.

In this study, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb concentrations were investigated in both stem and roots of three different plants which are Charlock （Sinapis arvensis）, Inula （Inula salicina） and Asphodelus （Asphodelus fistulosus）. The plants were collected from the roadsides between Mafraq and Jerash in Jordan. The concentrations were in lag of heavy metal per gram of sample weight. While the average concentrations in plants stem were 0.16 μg/g, 9.5μg/g, 0.51 μg/g and 22.9 μg/g for Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn ions, respectively, the corresponding concentrations in the plants roots were 0.09 μg/g, 6.4 μg/g, 0.2 μg/g and 15.7 μg/g for the same ions. The measured concentrations were much less than those reported by other local and international studies, therefore, the area under investigation might be considered healthy for crops culturing.

This study aimed at investigating the effect of a proposed EFL （English as a Foreign Language） training program on the teachers＇ reading practices in Mafraq. This program was developed by the researcher according to the ninth-grade EFL teachers＇ needs. The participants of the study were 20 ninth-grade females EFL teachers who represented the experimental and control groups （10 teachers in each group）. They were randomly chosen from 10 schools in the Northwestern Badia Directorate of Education. To achieve the purposes of the study, the researcher designed a needs a.alysis questionnaire, a training program, a pre and post observation checklist, and a pre and post received knowledge test for teachers. Proper statistical a.alysis was used to a.alyze the results of the research questions. The results of the study showed that teachers were in need to be trained on 20 reading comprehension practices to be able to teach reading comprehension effectively. Besides, there were statistically significant differences at the level of （a = 0.05） between the means scores of the ninth-grade teachers＇ performance of the control and experimental groups on the post observation checklist and on the post received knowledge test in favor of the experimental group due to the training program.
