Brain tumor is one of the most dreadful worldwide types of cancer and affects people leading to *** resonance imaging methods capture skull images that contain healthy and affected *** checked the affected tissue in the slice-by-slice manner,which was timeconsuming and hectic ***,auto segmentation of the affected part is needed to facilitate ***,we have considered a hybrid model that inherits the convolutional neural network(CNN)properties to the support vector machine(SVM)for the auto-segmented brain tumor *** CNN model is initially used to detect brain tumors,while SVM is integrated to segment the tumor region *** proposed method was evaluated on a publicly available BraTS2020 *** statistical parameters used in this work for the mathematical measures are precision,accuracy,specificity,sensitivity,and dice ***,our method achieved an accuracy value of 0.98,which is most prominent than existing ***,the proposed approach is more suitable for medical experts to diagnose the early stages of the brain tumor.

The precise brain tumor diagnosis is critical and shows a vital role in the medical support for treating tumor *** brain tumor segmentation for cancer analysis from many Magnetic Resonance Images(MRIs)created in medical practice is a problematic and timewasting task for *** a result,there is a critical necessity for more accurate computeraided methods for early tumor *** remove this gap,we enhanced the computational power of a computer-aided system by proposing a finetuned Block-Wise Visual Geometry Group19(BW-VGG19)*** this method,a pre-trained VGG19 is fine-tuned with CNN architecture in the block-wise mechanism to enhance the system`s *** publicly accessible Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging(CE-MRI)dataset collected from 2005 to 2020 from different hospitals in China has been used in this *** proposed method is simple and achieved an accuracy of 0.98%.We compare our technique results with the existing Convolutional Neural network(CNN),VGG16,and VGG19 *** results indicate that our proposed technique outperforms the best results associated with the existing methods.

Abnormal growth of brain tissues is the real cause of brain *** for the diagnosis of brain tumor at initial stages is one of the key step for saving the life of a *** manual segmentation of brain tumor magnetic resonance images(MRIs)takes time and results vary significantly in low-level *** address this issue,we have proposed a ResNet-50 feature extractor depended on multilevel deep convolutional neural network(CNN)for reliable images segmentation by considering the low-level features of *** this model,we have extracted features through ResNet-50 architecture and fed these feature maps to multi-level CNN *** handle the classification process,we have collected a total number of 2043 MRI patients of normal,benign,and malignant *** model CNN,multi-level CNN,and ResNet-50 based multi-level CNN have been used for detection and classification of brain *** the model results are calculated in terms of various numerical values identified as precision(P),recall(R),accuracy(Acc)and f1-score(F1-S).The obtained average results are much better as compared to already existing *** modified transfer learning architecture might help the radiologists and doctors as a better significant system for tumor diagnosis.

Introduction: Brain abscess represents 8% of intracranial masses in developing countries. Despite the advances in neuro-imaging, still, the diagnosis of brain abscess is difficult and may need a biopsy in most cases to verify the diagnosis because may even lead to death. CT scan with contrast is a good tool for diagnosing and localizing brain abscesses in late stages, however, it is difficult to diagnose them in the early stages. The development of MRI helps to more accurately diagnose brain abscess. Surgical management of brain abscesses is either medical or surgical through craniotomy or burr holes. Indications of each are still a point of debate among most neurosurgeons. Methodology: This is a descriptive longitudinal prospective study to compare the outcomes of two surgical procedures used in The National Centre for Neurological Sciences-Khartoum-Sudan (NCNS) from 2012 to 2015, craniotomy and excision of the abscess membrane versus burr hole and aspiration of brain abscess in terms of duration of hospitalization, length of antibiotic use, recurrence rate, number of images needed for follow-up, and the final postoperative early and late outcomes. The data was collected through a designed questionnaire and was then analyzed using SPSS version 20. No significant ethical approval was required for this study. Results: Fifty-four patients were operated on through craniotomy (29/54) and burr hole (25/54). Their ages ranged from 1 year to 53 years with an average presentation at 13 years of age. Most patients presented with fever (23.1%), convulsions (16%), vomiting (16.7%) and headache (15.4%). The mean of illness for both groups was almost 2 months. The majority of patients in this study were having no risk factors (38.9%) while the major risk factors seen were cardiac diseases (14.8%), neurosurgical procedures (13%) and otitis media (11.1%). A 55-year old male patient was diagnosed with strongy- loides hyper-infection with stool analysis and intestinal biopsy shortly after his chemotherapy for myeloma. He was commenced on albendazole anthelmintic therapy. After initiation of the treatment he suffered life- threatening gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Repeated endoscopies showed diffuse multi-focal intestinal bleeding. The patient required huge amounts of red blood cells and plasma transfusions and correction of haemostasis with recombinant activated factor Ⅶ. Abdominal aorto-angiography showed numerous micro- aneurysms (‘berry aneurysms’) in the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries’ territories. While the biopsy taken prior to the treatment with albendazole did not show evidence of vasculitis, the biopsy taken after initiation of therapy revealed leukoclastic aggregations around the vessels. These findings suggest that, in addition to direct destruction of the mucosa, vasculitis could be an important additive factor causing the massive GI bleeding during the anthelmintic treatment. This might result from substances released by the worms that have been killed with anthelmintic therapy. Current guidelines advise steroids to be tapered and stopped in case of systematic parasitic infections as they might reduce immunity and precipitate parasitic hyper-infection. In our opinion, steroid therapy might be of value in the management of strongyloides hyper- infection related vasculitis, in addition to the anthelmintic treatment. Indeed, steroid therapy of vasculitis with other means of supportive care resulted in cessation of the bleeding and recovery of the patient.
