Carbon neutrality is an ambitious goal that has been promulgated to be achieved on or before ***,most of the current energy policies focus more on carbon emission reduction,efficiency and high penetration of renewable ***,this paper presented a review strategy towards carbon neutrality by presenting the concept of a multi-energy system(MES)in terms of its technologies,configuration,modelling and feasibility as zero-emission *** paper addressed some prominent challenges associated with zero-carbon multi-energy systems(ZCMES).Various proven solutions in the extant studies that have been affirmed to alleviate some of these challenges were *** the end,we identified and summarised the current research gaps,and the future directions to ensure the feasibility of ZCMES as a primary strategy towards the actualization of carbon ***,this review work serves as a reference for revising the current energy policies to incorporate a carbon neutrality framework.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a serious inflammatory disease with rising incidence both in the adult and pediatric populations. It has been shown that mitochondrial injury and energy depletion are the earliest intracellular events in the early phase of AP. Moreover, it has been revealed that restoration of intracellular ATP level restores cellular functions and defends the cells from death. We have recently shown in a systematic review and meta-analysis that early enteral feeding is beneficial in adults; however, no reviews are available concerning the effect of early enteral feeding in pediatric AP. In this minireview, our aim was to systematically analyse the literature on the treatmentof acute pediatric pancreatitis. The preferred reporting items for systematic review(PRISMA-P) were followed, and the question was drafted based on participants, intervention, comparison and outcomes: P: patients under the age of twenty-one suffering from acute pancreatitis; I: early enteral nutrition (per os and nasogastric- or nasojejunal tube started within 48 h); C: nil per os therapy; O: length of hospitalization, need for treatment at an intensive care unit, development of severe AP, lung injury (including lung oedema and pleural effusion), white blood cell count and pain score on admission. Altogether, 632 articles (Pub Med: 131; EMBASE: 501) were found. After detailed screening of eligible papers, five of them met inclusion criteria. Only retrospective clinical trials were available. due to insufficient information from the authors, it was only possible to address length of hospitalization as an outcome of the study. Our mini-meta-analysis showed that early enteral nutrition significantly(Sd = 0.806, P = 0.034) decreases length of hospitalization compared with nil per os diet in acute pediatric pancreatitis. To restore efficacy (≥95% infection-reduction) to drugs against resistant infections (now, posing a bigger medical challenge, globally, than even HIV/AIdS), Cotrimoxazole was formulated with a synthetic Aluminum-magnesium silicate (Medicinal mineral which molecules are made of Nanoparticles, that is already in use as pharmaceutical-stabilizing agent) and used with antioxidants to treat Cotrimoxazole-resistant Salmonella pulorum infected chicks. Chick-groups A, B and C were fed antioxidants-fortified feed while groups d, E, F, G and H were not. The treatment-groups and their Cotrimoxazole doses/formulations were: A and d (100%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole);B and E (75%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole);C and F (50%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole) and G (100%/Cotrimoxazole). Infection-reductions (96.23% and 94.98%) of the groups of 75%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole/antioxidants and 75%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) better than 76.99% (100%/Cotrimoxazole);10.04% (50%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole/antioxidants);1.60% (50%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole);−212.60% (100%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole/antioxidants) and −230.96% (100%/MSAMS-Cotrimoxazole).

Chronic hepatitis B causes a liver disease characterized by inflammation of the liver parenchyma. The aim of this study was to investigate the evolution of biological parameters in patients treated with Tenofovir for chronic B infection at the Commune V referral health center in Bamako. We obtained a prevalence of 14.15%. The most represented age group was 31 - 40 years, with 36.8%. The sex ratio was 1.44 in favour of men. Viral load was undetectable after 18 months of treatment in 25 patients (42.37%). Tenofovir, the 1st-line drug in Mali, is effective on the biological parameters monitored in patients.

The biodiversity of natural or semi-natural native,old oak woodlands have high conservation importance,especially in landscapes of monocultural forest plantations and arable *** a wider variety of microhabitats and foraging sources,such old oak forests can provide essential habitat for native forest bird *** conducted a study using bird point counts to compare the forest bird communities of old pedunculate oak(Quercus robur)remnants with native and non-native plantations in central Hungary in a landscape of mostly arable fields,settlements,and monocultural *** surveys were carried out in old oak forest remnants,middle-aged oak,white poplar(Populus alba),hybrid poplar(Populus×euramericana),black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia),and pine(Pinus spp.)*** has been carried out in nine study sites,where all six habitat types were represented(with a few exceptions),to determine total abundance,species richness,Shannon–Wiener diversity,species evenness,dominant and indicator species,and guild *** found that old oak forest remnants were the most diverse habitats among the studied forest types,while hybrid poplar and pine plantations exhibited the lowest avian *** avian guilds most sensitive to the loss of old oak forest remnants were ground foragers,bark foragers,cavity-nesters,residents,and Mediterranean migratory *** habitats were more diverse than non-native *** results suggest that it is important to conserve all remaining high biodiversity old oak stands and to avoid clear-cutting of monocultural plantations in favour of practices such as mixed-species plantations,longer rotation lengths,or retention forestry.

Evaluating alternative stem cell hypotheses for adult corneal epithelial maintenance

In this review we evaluate evidence for three different hypotheses that explain how the corneal epithelium is maintained. The limbal epithelial stem cell(LESC)hypothesis is most widely accepted. This proposes that stem cells in the basal layer of the limbal epithelium, at the periphery of the cornea, maintain themselves and also produce transient(or transit) amplifying cells(TACs). TACs then move centripetally to the centre of the cornea in the basal layer of the corneal epithelium and also replenish cells in the overlying suprabasal layers. The LESCs maintain the corneal epithelium during normal homeostasis and become more active to repair significant wounds. Second, the corneal epithelial stem cell(CESC) hypothesis postulates that, during normal homeostasis, stem cells distributed throughout the basal corneal epithelium, maintain the tissue. According to this hypothesis, LESCs are present in the limbus but are only active during wound healing. We also consider a third possibility, that the corneal epithelium is maintained during normal homeostasis by proliferation of basal corneal epithelial cells without any input from stem cells. After reviewing the published evidence, we conclude that the LESC and CESC hypotheses are consistent with more of the evidence than the third hypothesis, so we do not consider this further. The LESC and CESC hypotheses each have difficulty accounting for one main type of evidence so we evaluate the two key lines of evidence that discriminate between them. Finally, we discuss how lineage-tracing experiments have begun to resolve the debate in favour of the LESC hypothesis. Nevertheless, it also seems likely that some basal corneal epithelial cells can act as long-term progenitors if limbal stem cell function is compromised. Thus, this aspect of the CESC hypothesis may have a lasting impact on our understanding of corneal epithelial maintenance, even if it is eventually shown that stem cells are restricted to the limbus as proposed by the

Modified deep sclerectomy combined with Ex-PRESS filtration device versus trabeculectomy for primary open angle glaucoma

AIM：To compare the efficacy of modified deep sclerectomy combined with Ex-PRESS shunt versus trabeculectomy in primary open angle glaucoma. METHOdS：This is a prospective cohort comparative single-center study. Forty-nine eyes of 49 patients were enrolled in the study. Patients were randomly divided into two groups. Group A（22 patients） underwent classic trabeculectomy and group B（27 patients） underwent modified deep sclerectomy combined with insertion of Ex-PRESS model P50 drainage device. RESULTS：Mean age was 69±7y in group A and 64±8y in group B（P=0.03）. The mean reduction was 11.1±5.7 mm Hg in group A compared to 15.8±5.7 mm Hg in group B at 6mo（P=0.006）, and 9.8±4.9 mm Hg and 15.4±4.7 mm Hg respectively at 1y（P=0.0001）. Regarding the postoperative glaucoma medication, significant difference was observed between the two groups（in favour of group B） only at 6mo（P=0.017）. At the end of the follow-up period complete success rate in group A was 68.2% compared to 92.6% in group B（χ^2 test, P=0.07） and qualified success rate was 100% in both ***：Modified deep sclerectomy combined with Ex-PRESS shunt may provide comparable IOP reduction with fewer complications in management of primary open angle glaucoma.

Prognostication of hydrocarbon generative potential in the onshore and offshore Niger delta, Nigeria using TOC content and rock-eval pyrolysis techniques

This article prognosticates the hydrocarbon generation potential of core samples from fields A, B, C and d in Niger delta, Nigeria. The objectives of this study are to characterize the quality of these core samples by organic geochemical analyses. A total of ten core samples collected from fields A, B, C and d in Niger delta were analyzed using total organic carbon(TOC) content analysis, rock-eval pyrolysis technique. The analytical results of the studied core samples reveal that they have generally high total organic carbon contents(TOC), suggesting that conditions in the Niger delta favour organic matter production and preservation. There is a variation in the kerogen types and this may be attributed to the relative stratigraphic positions of the core samples within the Niger delta. The rock-eval results indicate that the samples from fields C and d contain predominantly Type II kerogen with a capacity to generate oil and gas and hence have good generative potential. The samples from fields A and B contain mainly Type III kerogen and are gas-prone with moderate generative potential.

Effects of vitamin supplementation on inflammatory markers and psychological wellbeing among distressed women:a randomized controlled trial

Background： Multivitamins are a popular supplement taken to promote physical and mental health. during periods of stress, they may have a protective role for health and wellbeing, although the current evidence of their efficacy is mixed. Objective： To determine whether multivitamin supplementation impacts psychological and inflammatory markers of women who are experiencing psychological distress. design, setting, participants and interventions： An 8-week randomized controlled trial was conducted to assess changes in both psychological state and pro-inflammatory markers of patients receiving multivi- tamins or placebo. The sample comprised women who reported elevated psychological distress in the previous 4 weeks. Main outcome measures： Psychological state was assessed using Spielberger＇s State-Trait Personality Inventory to assess anxiety, curiosity, depression and anger. Pro-inflammatory markers comprised interleukin （IL）-113, IL-5, IL-6, turnout necrosis factor （TNF）-α and TNF-6. Results： Improvements across time were observed for all psychological measures and cytokines, except IL-5, but were independent of the active intervention. Only TNF-β demonstrated a significant differential change between groups over the course of the intervention, in favour of multivitamin supplementation （active group mean rank decreased from 11.1 to 7.1 ; placebo group mean rank decreased from 8.9 to 7.8）. Conclusion： The results suggest that administration of multivitamins was not effective in improving psychological stare. However, some evidence supported the positive impact of multivitamin supplementation on pro-inflammatory cytokine profiles of women currently experiencing stress.
