The availability of on-farm storage and processing is a critical challenge facing small farmers,which hinders agricultural *** per cent of the food produced globally is lost after harvest,with the proportion being exceptionally high in low-and middle-income countries due to a lack of on-farm handling and storage *** cold-storage solutions have not taken off at the smallholder level,mainly due to a lack of availability and access to reliable grid ***,off-grid decentralized solar-powered cold-storage units can play a vital role in preserving the produce at production sites and enhancing livelihood and rural development with a minimal carbon *** maintain low temperatures at every step of the agricultural value chain,known as the‘cold chain’,several technology vendors aim to improve the shelf life and user ***-scale farmers,which account for two-thirds of all food losses,are another group they focus *** study examines the existing situation,importance and potential opportunities of decentralized cold-storage systems for fresh fruit and *** addition to economic,social,technological and environmental limitations,this study examines the triumphs and challenges of incorporating solar-energy-powered cold storage into developing *** the private sector,NGOs and some government agencies are working to promote decentralized cold-storage facilities,relatively little has been done so far to have a significant influence on post-harvest losses and food *** are still knowledge gaps on decentralized cold-storage *** primary operational constraint is the economic situation of end users and the lack of financing alternatives for smallholder farmers.

Assessment of Land Use Land Cover Change Detection Using Geospatial Techniques in Southeast Rajasthan

Change analysis acquires effective information in the form of maps and statistical data which becomes the central component in spatial planning, monitoring environmental changes, management and utilization of land. The present study makes an attempt to assess the changes in land use land cover using multi-temporal satellite data in south-east Rajasthan. These maps were derived from geocoded dia-positive False Color Composites (FCC’s) of IRS 1991, 2001, 2010 & 2018 using Arc GIS platform. The present study demonstrates the extension, approach and result of change analysis which might be helpful for decision making and sustainable growth. The landscape has been divided into 12 categories. Mining and its associated features were increased whereas forest and open scrub cover shows decreasing trend during the study period. The former increased by 23.82 km2 while the later shrunk by 26.08 km2. Most significant changes are also witnessed in settlement and industrial areas which shows increment by 8.8 km2 and 1.33 km2. Stone quarrying has destroyed arable land, natural vegetation cover, topsoil, subsoil and consequently the soil profile of the area. On the other hand cultivated land is increasing due to the conversion of uncultivated land and scrub cover with facilitation of irrigation and modern agricultural activities under different government schemes. Watershed Characteristics and Landuse Analysis of Govindsagar Catchment, Lalitpur (UP) India Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques

Watershed characteristics and land use/land cover study is necessary, for improved decision-making and for the resource management strategies. The methodology necessitates the provision of the base map from SOI toposheet, delineation of drainage, preparation of slope and flow direction map using ASTER data and for the land use/land cover change detection, visual interpretation has been carried out using IRSP6-LISS-III data of 2005 and 2015. The land use/land cover analysis discloses several categories of land cover as well as land use present in Govindsagar variation from 2005 to 2015. The study area is mainly cramped to cultivated land and uncultivated land which show changes since last decade, there is an increase in cultivated land of about 4.86% of the geographical area where as uncultivated land (fallow land) shows a decline of 1.61% of the total geographical area, morphometric analysis reveals that area has impermeable subsurface materials and mountainous relief with dendritic drainage pattern with low surface runoff.
