Assessment of phytochemicals, antioxidant, anti-hemolytic, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer potential of flowers, leaves and stem extracts of Rosa arvensis

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate phytochemicals and in vitro biological potential of flowers,leaves and stem extracts of Rosa ***:Presence of twenty secondary metabolites was confirmed and then phenolic and flavonoid contents were quantified *** Transform Infrared spectroscopy was conducted to ascertain functional groups and antioxidant potential was examined using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity,total antioxidant capacity and total reducing power *** erythrocytes were used to assess anti-hemolytic activity and five bacterial strains were examined to determine antibacterial potential of plant *** seeds were used to perform phytotoxic activity and cytotoxic potential was evaluated via brine shrimps and PC3 cell ***:Highest phenolic contents were detected in the methanolic extract of Rosa arvensis flower(RAFM)[(151.635±0.005)gallic acid equivalent mg/g]and highest flavonoid contents in the chloroform leaf extract(RALC)[(108.228±0.004)quercetin equivalent mg/g].Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis showed the presence of wide range of functional *** antioxidant assays indicated highest DPPH scavenging activity[IC50(23.5±0.6)μg/mL]in the methanolic stem extract(RASM),highest total antioxidant capacity[(265.1±0.9)μg/mL]in RAFM and highest reducing potential[(209.9±0.6)μg/mL]in leaf extract(RALM).Highest antihemolytic activity[(90.0±0.5)μg/mL]was recorded in RAFM and brine shrimp cytotoxicity potential[(52.3±0.3)μg/mL]in *** antimicrobial activity was detected highest[(21.1±0.5)mm inhibition zones]in RALM against Streptococcus *** the end,antiinflammatory and anti-cancer activity results depicted less than 50%inhibition in the methanolic ***:Our findings will be helpful in designing pharmaceutical regimens and therefore,more studies can be recommended to isolate and characterize compounds associated with the biological activities of Rosa arvensis.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate biological potential of methanol and n-hexane extracts of aerial parts in seven species of family ***: Qualitative phytochemical tests were done by using standard protocols. In vitro antioxidant activity was performed via different assays and antimicrobial potential was observed via disc diffusion method. Cytotoxic activity was carried out using brine shrimps’ ***: Phytochemical studies revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, phenols,steroids, saponins, tannins, anthocyanins and coumarins in most of the plant extracts. Maximum antioxidant and antimicrobial potential were observed in Cymbopogon citratus methanol extract and Cymbopogon citratus n-hexane extract along with significant number of total flavonoids and phenols contents. However, Polypogon monspeliensis methanol extract and Polypogon monspeliensis n-hexane extract showed minimum antioxidant as well as antimicrobial potential. Moreover, methanol extracts showed a cytotoxic effect with their effectiveness ranked Polypogon monspeliensis methanol extract > Cymbopogon citratus methanol extract > Phalaris minor n-hexane extract > Aristida funiculata methanol extract > Stipagrostis plumosa methanol extract > Cenchrus ciliaris methanol extract > Panicum antidotale methanol extract. Similarly, n-hexane plant extracts revealed cytotoxic activity in decreasing order Cenchrus ciliaris n-hexane extract > Stipagrostis plumosa n-hexane extract > Phalaris minor n-hexane extract > Aristida funiculata n-hexane extract > Polypogon monspeliensis n-hexane extract > Panicum antidotale n-hexane extract > Cymbopogon citratus n-hexane extract ***: Methanol extracts exhibit significant antioxidant and antimicrobial potential which can be correlated to their medicinal values. The observed brine shrimp’s lethality of the plant extracts revealed the presence of potent cytotoxic components in these plants.

Use of deep learning algorithms for the investigation and analysis of medical images has emerged as a powerful *** increase in retinal dis-eases is alarming as it may lead to permanent blindness if left ***-tion of the diagnosis process of retinal diseases not only assists ophthalmologists in correct decision-making but saves time *** researchers have worked on automated retinal disease classification but restricted either to hand-crafted fea-ture selection or binary *** paper presents a deep learning-based approach for the automated classification of multiple retinal diseases using fundus *** this research,the data has been collected and combined from three distinct *** images are preprocessed for enhancing the *** layers of the convolutional neural network(CNN)are used for the automated feature extraction and classification of 20 retinal *** is observed that the results are reliant on the number of *** binary classification(healthy ***),up to 100%accuracy has been *** 16 classes are used(treating stages of a disease as a single class),93.3%accuracy,92%sensitivity and 93%specificity have been obtained *** 20 classes(treating stages of the disease as separate classes),the accuracy,sensitivity and specificity have dropped to 92.4%,92%and 92%respectively.

This paper presents a handwritten document recognition system based on the convolutional neural network *** today’s world,handwritten document recognition is rapidly attaining the attention of researchers due to its promising behavior as assisting technology for visually impaired *** technology is also helpful for the automatic data entry *** the proposed systemprepared a dataset of English language handwritten character *** proposed system has been trained for the large set of sample data and tested on the sample images of user-defined handwritten *** this research,multiple experiments get very worthy recognition *** proposed systemwill first performimage pre-processing stages to prepare data for training using a convolutional neural *** this processing,the input document is segmented using line,word and character *** proposed system get the accuracy during the character segmentation up to 86%.Then these segmented characters are sent to a convolutional neural network for their *** recognition and segmentation technique proposed in this paper is providing the most acceptable accurate results on a given *** proposed work approaches to the accuracy of the result during convolutional neural network training up to 93%,and for validation that accuracy slightly decreases with 90.42%.

Prevalence and Risk of Anemia in Type-2 Diabetic Patients

Aim: To determine the prevalence and risk of anemia in type-2 diabetes mellitus. In addition, the incidence and risk of anemia in these patients were assessed according to gender and glycemic control status. Methods: The study group comprised 200 patients with type-2 diabetes. Patients were divided into groups according to glycemic control and gender. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), blood glucose level, hemoglobin concentration, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) of subjects were evaluated. The presence of anemia was defined by a hemoglobin level 6.5%, fasting blood glucose >126 mg/dl and random blood glucose >200 mg/dl. Result: 63% of diabetic patients had anemia. There was higher incidence and risk of anemia in females (36%) as compared to males (27%) (p 7.5% (49.5%) compared to those with controlled diabetes HbA1C < 7.5% (13.5%) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study indicated that poor glycemic control and gender difference are associated with the incidence of anemia in type II diabetes. Our findings suggest the need of screening for anemia in diabetes out-patient clinics. Routine hematological tests along with blood glucose level should be mandatory in order to make therapeutic decisions for the treatment of anemia in type II diabetes mellitus.

Present analysis discusses the boundary layer flow of Eyring Powell nanofluid past a constantly moving surface under the influence of nonlinear thermal radiation. Heat and mass transfer mechanisms are examined under the physically suitable convective boundary condition. Effects of variable thermal conductivity and chemical reaction are also considered. Series solutions of all involved distributions using Homotopy Analysis method(HAM) are *** of dominating embedded flow parameters are discussed through graphical illustrations. It is observed that thermal radiation parameter shows increasing tendency in relation to temperature profile. However, chemical reaction parameter exhibits decreasing behavior versus concentration distribution.

Extremely rare case of primary esophageal mucous associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma

SJ is a 37-year-old male who presented with one year history of dysphagia, odynophagia and 15 pounds weight loss. He underwent endoscopic evaluation which showed mid esophageal ulcers. It was thought that the cause of the ulcer was the multivitamins and the patient was asked to stop them. Furthermore Esomeprazole therapy was also initiated. Patient's symptoms persisted but he did not seek any medical attention until about one year later. Meanwhile the patient reported additional 15 pounds of weight loss. We repeated upper endoscopy again which showed evidence of two chronic non bleeding irregular friable ulcerations seen in the mid esophagus, 31 cm from the incisors. Biopsies and frozen section were taken and sent for assessment to the Pathology lab. Immunoperoxidase studies on frozen sections showed the presence of IgM and for most plasma cells IgG. The microscopic and histologic findings were consistent with mucous associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma with plasmocytic differentiation. Computed tomographic scan done showed no evidence of spread to adjacent structures. The patient was referred to oncology and several cycles of radiation and Rituximab therapy were initiated which cured the disease. Subsequent endoscopies with blind biopsies were done which were negative for any neoplastic process.
