Experimental investigation of different brines imbibition influences on co-and counter-current oil flows in carbonate reservoirs

Imbibition of water,as wetting phase in oil-wet fractured carbonate reservoirs,plays a key role in fluid flow between matrix and fracture *** type of injected seawater and its chemistry would profoundly influence the imbibition *** this study,the impact of smart water(a brine that its ions have been adjusted to facilitate oil recovery)and low salinity water on co-and counter-current imbibition processes for oil-wet carbonate cores has been experimentally *** results show an increase of about 10% in oil recovery for co-and counter-currents for smart seawater imbibition compared to that of low salinity *** addition,as a result of the influence of co-and counter-current on each other,by co-current removal from one core face,the countercurrent in the other face would be intensified by as much as about 75%.A close examination of different lengths(5,7 and 9 cm)of carbonate cores with the same permeability revealed that by decreasing porous medium length,the amount of counter-current producing oil would be decreased so that in the 5 cm core,counter current oil production will not *** similar core lengths by increasing permeability,the share of counter current flow would be decreased approximately 18% since the capillary pressure could not overcome non-wetting phase viscous *** the role of matrix length along with a modified brine(which is designed according to the matrix mixture)strengthen the relevant mechanisms to have more oil production so that the higher thickness of matrix causes the higher amount of co-current oil producing and consequently more total recovery.

The way to deal with flexible data from their stochastic presence point of view as output or input in the evaluation of efficiency of the decision-making units(DMUs)motivates new perspectives in modeling and solving data envelopment analysis(DEA)in the presence of flexible *** the orientation of flexible data is not pre-determined,and because the number of DMUs is fixed and all the DMUs are independent,flexible data can be treated as random variable in terms of both input and output *** a result,the selection of flexible variable as input or output for n DMUs can be regarded as binary random *** the randomness of choosing flexible data as input or output,we deal with DEA models in the presence of flexible data whose input or output orientation determines a binomial distribution *** study provides a new insight to classify flexible variable and investigates the input or output status of a variable using a stochastic *** proposed model obviates the problems caused by the use of the large M number and using its different values in previous *** addition,it can obtain the most appropriate efficiency value for decision-making units by assigning the chance of choosing the orientation of flexible variable to the model *** proposed method is compared with other available methods by employing numerical and empirical examples.

This study examined the effects of increased salinity on growth, development and survival of the Green toad, Bufotes variabilis during embryonic, hatching and early larval periods. Eggs from a single cohort of B. variabilis were subjected to acute and chronic toxicity tests for water salinity ranging from 0.20 to 10 g of salt per liter. Results obtained from this study showed that salinity over 3.70 g/l increased embryonic mortality and reduced percentage of hatching and survival rate of larvae. As larvae tolerated salinity 0.20 to 3.70 g/l with highest survival, but salinity of 10 g/l caused mortality of all individuals within 12 h, 7.70-8.70 （g/l） within 4.5 days, 5.70-6.70 g/l within 10 days and 4.70 （g/l） were tolerated within 14 days. Salinity less than 0.70 g/l did not affect survival and hatching success of the embryos. After a 3-week experiment, size of larvae exposed to salinities over 0.70 g/l was lower compared to larvae reared at lower salinity levels. Meanwhile increases in salinity more than 3.70 g/l caused extension in the hatching period. Larvae reared at salinity of 3.70 to 4.70 g/l had morphological abnormalities, such as distortion of tail.

The present study was conducted in Varamin city of Tehran province,*** environmental impact of broiler production at farm gate and chicken meat production at slaughterhouse gate per mass-based functional unit in summer and winter seasons were evaluated using life-cycle assessment(LCA)*** impact categories including abiotic depletion potential,acidification potential,eutrophication potential,global warming potential,ozone depletion potential,human toxicity potential,freshwater and marine aquatic ecotoxicity potential,terrestrial ecotoxicity potential,and photochemical oxidation potential were assessed via CML 2 baseline 2000 v2.04/world,1990 *** to the results,the global warming potential,acidification and eutrophication for production of 1 ton packed meat were estimated to be 2931.91 kg CO2-eq,41.75 kg SO2-eq and 14.69 kg PO4-eq,in summer and 5357.61 kg CO2-eq,61.9 kg SO2-eq and 19.34 kg PO4-eq in winter,*** evaluations revealed that the broiler production stage was the main source of environmental impacts principally due to production and transportation of feed and on-farmemissions in the life cycle of chicken meat *** production farms,slaughterhouse and transportation account for 56%,31%and 13%of total energy consumption,respectively.

Effect of Al powder and silica sol on the structure and mechanical properties of Al_2O_3-ZrO_2 foams

Polymeric sponge replication method is one of the common ways for ceramic foam production. The existence of central triangular voids in the struts results in a decrease of mechanical properties limiting their applications. To remove this defect, some additives consisting of Al powder particles and silica sol are added to ceramic slurries consisting of Al2O3 and ZrO2 （partially stabilized zirconia）. With increasing temperature for pyrolyzing and sintering of raw materials, first the Al powder and then the glass phase which consisted of melted Al2O3, ZrO2 and SiO2 was soaked into hollow struts. SEM investigations showed that the center of foam struts were free of hollows. XRD considerations depicted that a ZrO2 phase with tetragonal crystallographic structure is present in the produced foam which could be the reason of improved toughness and mechanical properties. Compressive strength of foams increased significantly due to the decrease of closed porosity. The Weibull statistical study showed remarkable increasing of the Weibull module and its value for foams with 10, 20 and 30 ppi was 5.91, 6.06 and 6.53 respectively.

The main purpose of this study is a better comprehension of the non-bonded interaction between an anticancer drug apalutamide and deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA).In the prese nt work,the in teraction between an ticancer drug apalutamide and one of the DNA bases called 2,-deoxythymidine 5,-monophosphate(thymine)by Density Functional Theory(DFT)calculations in the solvent water has been investigated for the first *** non-bonded interaction effects of the molecule apalutamide with thymine on the electronic properties,chemical shift tensors and natural charges have been also *** natural bond orbital(NBO)analysis was performed for determining the role of electron donor and acceptor of the molecules apalutamide and thymine at the complex thymine/*** Electron location function(ELF),localized orbital locator(LOL)and quantum theory of atoms in molecules(QTAIM)analysis were carried out in order to determine the chemical bond nature in the investigated *** values of ELF and LOL parameters for the selected bonds are small,which confirms the non-covalent character of these bonds in *** electronic spectra of the apalutamide drug,thymine and complex thymine/apalutamide in solvent water were calculated by Time Dependent Density Functional Theory(TD-DFT)for the investigation of interaction effect;Non-bonded interaction between the compound apalutamide and thymine has changed the value of λmax.

With increasing environmental pressure to reduce solid waste and to recycle as much as possible,the concrete industry has adopted a number of methods to achieve this goal by replacement of waste glass with concrete composition *** to differences in mixture design,placement and consolidation techniques,the strength and durability of Self Compacting Concrete(SCC)may be different than those of conventional ***,replacement of waste glass with fine aggregate in SCC should deeply be investigated compared to conventional *** aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of glass replacement with fine aggregate on the SCC *** present study,fine aggregate has been replaced with waste glass in six different weight ratios ranging from 0%to 50%.Fresh results indicate that the flow-ability characteristics have been increased as the waste glass incorporated to paste ***,compressive,flexural and splitting strengths of concrete containing waste glass have been shown to decrease when the content of waste glass is *** strength reduction of concrete in different glass replacement ratios is not remarkable,thus it can be produced SCC with waste glass as fine aggregate in a standard manner.

This study investigated the categories of generative and conservative offices by using syntactic theories and conducting a comparative analysis of two different layout con figurations. Gen erativity depends on several features that in elude but are not limited to spatial criteria. Generativity is also affected by aspects that extend beyond the physical, such as the symbolic relati on ship between the social orga nism of an orga nizati on and the in ternal structure of a workplace. Results show that no con sistent relati on ship exists between spatial variables and behaviors even though the examined layouts satisfy an organization's basic cultural requiremen ts, in cludi ng privacy, territoriality, and hierarchy. Spatial parameters in crease the potential for generativity, but such increase is not guaranteed without necessary changes in the attitudes, programs, and policies of organizations. Recognizing the limits of spatial variables requires evidence-based field research on office settings to determine operational and tailormade solutions.

Evaluation of Genotype × Environment Interaction in Rice Based on AMMI Model in Iran

Identification of high-yielding stable promising rice lines and determination of suitable areas for rice lines would be done by additive main effects and multiplicative interaction(AMMI) model. Seven promising rice genotypes plus two check varieties Shiroudi and 843 were analyzed using a randomized complete block design with three replications in three consecutive years(2012, 2013 and 2014). Homogenous error variance was indicated in the nine environments for grain yield. The combined analysis of variance indicated significant effects of environment, genotype and genotype × environment(GE) interactions on grain yield. The significant effect of GE interaction reflected on the differential response of genotypes in various environments and demonstrated that GE interaction had remarkable effect on genotypic performance in different environments. The application of AMMI model for partitioning the GE interaction effects showed that only the first two terms of AMMI were significant based on Gollob's Ftest. The lowest AMMI-1 was observed for G7, G2 and G6. G7 and G6 had higher grain yield. According to the first eigenvalue, which benefits only the first interaction principal component scores, G1, G6, G2 and G9 were the most stable genotypes. The values of the sum of first two interaction principal component scores could be useful in identifying genotype stability, and G6, G5 and G2 were the most dynamic stable genotypes. AMMI stability value introduced G6 as the most stable one. According to AMMI biplot view, G6 was high yielding and highly stable genotype. In conclusion, this study revealed that GE interactions were an important source of rice yield variation, and its AMMI biplots were forceful for visualizing the response of genotypes to environments.
