Influence of Seed Priming on Performance and Water Productivity of Direct Seeded Rice in Alternating Wetting and Drying

Direct seeded rice is promising alternative to traditional transplanting, but requires appropriate crop and water management to maintain yield performance and achieve high water productivity. Present study evaluated the effect of seed priming and irrigation on crop establishment, tillering, agronomic traits, paddy yield, grain quality and water productivity of direct seeded rice in alternate wetting and drying （DSR-AWD） in comparison with direct seeded rice at field capacity （DSR- FC）. Seed priming treatments were osmo-priming with KCI （2.2%）, CaCI2 （2.2%） and moringa leaf extracts （MLE, 3.3%） including hydro-priming as control. Among the treatments, seed osmo-primed with MLE emerged earlier and had higher final emergence, followed by osmo-priming with CaCI2. Tillering emergence rate and number of tillers per plant were the highest for seed priming with CaCI2 in DSR- AWD. Total productive and non-productive tillers, panicle length, biological and grain yields, harvest index were highest for seed priming with MLE or CaCI2 in DSR-AWD. Similarly, grain quality, estimated in terms of normal grains, abortive and chalky grains, was also the highest in DSR-AWD with MLE osmo-priming. Benefit cost ratio and water productivity was also the highest in DSR-AWD for seed priming with MLE. In conclusion, seed priming with MLE or CaCI2 can be successfully employed to improve the direct seeded rice performance when practiced with alternate wetting and drying irrigation.

Boron Application Improves Growth,Yield and Net Economic Return of Rice

A field trial was conducted to evaluate the role of boron （B） application at different growth stages in improving the growth,yield and net economic return of rice at farmer＇s fields during summer season,*** was soil applied （1.5 kg/hm2） at the transplanting,tillering,flowering and grain formation stages of rice;foliar applied （1.5% B solution） at the tillering,flowering and grain formation stages of rice,and dipped seedling roots in 1.5% B solution before transplanting;while control plots did not apply any *** application （except dipping of seedling roots in B solution,which caused toxicity and reduced the number of tillers and straw yield than control） substantially improved the rice growth and ***,soil application was better in improving the number of grains per panicle,1000-grain weight,grain yield,harvest index,net economic income and ratio of benefit to cost compared with the rest of ***,for improving rice performance and maximizing the net economic returns,B might be applied as soil application at flowering.

Investigations of Viscous Dissipation in Stagnation Point Flow Past a Stretchable Riga Wall: Modern Analysis of Heat Transport

This article scrutinizes the features of viscous dissipation in the stagnation point ?ow past through a linearly stretched Riga wall by implementing Cattaneo-Christov heat ?ux model. Viscous dissipation is carried out in Cattaneo-Christov diffusion analysis for the ?rst time in this letter. As a result of Cattaneo-Christov model, some extra terms of viscous dissipation are appeared in the energy equation. These extra terms of viscous dissipation are missing in the literature. On the utilization of suitable transformations, the equations governing the problem are reduced under the boundary layer approximation into the non-linear and dimensionless ordinary differential equations. Convergent approach is utilized to solve the dimensionless governing equations. The solution thus acquired is used to highlight the effects of emerging parameters on velocity distribution and ?uid's temperature through the graphs. Features of the drag force(or skin friction co-e?cient) are graphically interpreted. It is noticed that the presence of modi?ed Hartman number helps to reduce the ?uid's temperature but enhances the velocity pro?le. Further an enlargement in the value of thermal time relaxation parameter helps to decrease the temperature distribution.

An investigation of non-Newtonian fluid flow due to metachronal beating of cilia in a tube

The aim of this study is to explain theoretically the role of ciliary motion on the transport of epididymal fluid through the ductus efferentes of the male reproductive track. For this purpose, a mathematical model has been developed for the flow of a non-Newtonian fluid in an axisymmetric tube due to metachronal wave of cilia motion for the more realistic consequences. Carreau viscous fluid model is considered to see the rheological effects on the pumping characteristics of the flow. Regular perturbation method has been employed to obtain the analytical expressions for the stream function, the velocity field and a relation between the pressure difference and the volume flow rate. It is found that the volume flow rate is influenced significantly by Weissenberg number We and the cilia length parameter ε. The computational results are presented graphically to see the effects of various physical parameters. Finally, the analysis is applied and compared with the observed value of the flow rate of spermatic fluid in the ductus efferentes of the male reproductive track. The volume flow rate is reported closed to the estimated value 6 × 10^-3 ml/h in the human ductus efferentes when We = 0.5 and e is near by 0.25.

Study of Bacterial Samples Using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy （LIBS） technique has been applied to inves- tigate two different types of bacteria, Escherichia coli （B1） and Micrococcus luteus （B2） deposited on glass slides using Spectrolaser 7000. LIBS spectra were analyzed using spectrolaser software. LIBS spectrum of glass substrate was compared with bacteria spectra. Ca, Mg, Na, K, P, S, C1, Fe, A1, Mn, Cu, C, H and CN-band appeared in bacterial samples in air. Two carbon lines at 193.02 nm, 247.88 nm and one hydrogen line at 656.28 nm with intensity ratios of 1.9, 1.83 and 1.53 appeared in bacterial samples B1 and B2 respectively. Carbon and hydrogen are the important components of the bio-samples like bacteria and other cancer cells. Investigation on LIBS spectra of the samples in He and Ar atmospheres is also presented. Ni lines appeared only in B2 sample in Ar atmosphere. From the present experimental results we are able to show that LIBS technique has a potential in the identification and discrimination of different types of bacteria.

A progressive route for tailoring electrical transport in MoS2

Typically, molybdenum disulfide （MoS2） synthesized by chemical vapor deposition （CVD） is polycrystalline; as a result, the scattering of charge carriers at grain boundaries can lead to performances lower than those observed in exfoliated single-crystal MoS2. Until now, the electrical properties of grain boundaries have been indirectly studied without accurate knowledge of their location. Here, we present a technique to measure the electrical behavior of individual grain boundaries in CVD-grown MoS2, imaged with the help of aligned liquid crystals. Unexpectedly, the electrical conductance decreased by three orders of magnitude for the grain boundaries with the lowest on/off ratio. Our study provides a useful technique to fabricate devices on a single-crystal area, using optimized growth conditions and device geometry. The photoresponse, studied within a MoS2 single grain, showed that the device responsivity was comparable with that of the exfoliated MoS2-based photodetectors.

A Numerical Investigation of 3D MHD Rotating Flow with Binary Chemical Reaction,Activation Energy and Non-Fourier Heat Flux

In this investigation we analyze the rotating three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic flow of Maxwell fluid in attendance of binary chemical reaction with activation energy. Furthermore, effects of non-Fourier heat flux are taken into account. Formulation is done in the presence of heat and mass convective boundary conditions. Self-similar forms from boundary layer equations are obtained using apposite transformations. Numerical solution is obtained via built-in bvp-4c function in MATLAB for the system of differential equations. Effects of ensuing parameters on flow distributions are portrayed graphically. It is witnessed that increasing values of rotational parameter lowers the velocity profile and both Biot numbers have escalating effect on temperature and concentration distributions. A comparative study to a previously done investigation is also included to corroborate our results.

Fabrication of stable,reproducible and reusable reference electrodes for low energy and high-temperature steam splitting is of great interest for hydrogen fuel production without anthropogenic carbon dioxide(CO2)*** study has been conducted for the detection of suitable material for the fabrication of novel reference *** the present scenario,this research is designed to fabricate a novel nickel reference electrode by using operating conditions of eutectic molten hydroxide(NaOH-KOH,49-51 mol%)at temperature 300℃in an ion-conducting membrane of alumina and mullite ***,the designed nickel reference electrode has been examined for its reusability and stability by using electrochemical technique and cyclic *** scans of cyclic voltammetry are performed for both membrane fabricated reference electrode.A slight positive shift in oxidation peaks is observed for mullite membrane electrode(64 mV from scan 1 to 5).The stability measurements are noted by changing the scan rate between 50 and 150 mV s−***,the results show that the Ni/Ni(OH)2 reference electrode covered with a mullite membrane is stable and reusable at 300℃temperature without any *** stability and reusability of prepared nickel reference electrode covered by mullite tube in the eutectic molten hydroxide were up to 9 days to carry out an electrochemical investigation,while for alumina tube reference electrode the stability and reliability were up to 3 *** internal electrolytic material and ionic conductance can play an important role for future studies with this reference electrode along with optimisation of temperature and scan rate parameters.

This work presents,design and specific absorption rate(SAR)analysis of a 37GHz antenna,for 5th Generation(5G)*** proposed antenna comprises of 4-elements of rectangular patch and an even *** radiating element is composed of copper material supported by Rogers RT5880 substrate of thickness,0.254 mm,dielectric constant(εr),2.2,and loss tangent,*** 4-elements array antenna is compact in size with a dimension of 8mm×20mm in length and *** radiating patch is excited with a 50 ohms connector i.e.,*** antenna resonates in the frequency band of 37 GHz,that covers the 5G *** antenna behavior is studied both in free space and in the proximity of the human *** models of the human body,i.e.,belly,hand,and head(contain skin,fat,muscles,and bone)are considered for on-body *** resonant frequency,the antenna gives a boresight gain of 11.6 *** antenna radiates efficiently with a radiated efficiency of more than 90%.Also,it is observed that the antenna detunes to the lowest in the proximity of the human body,but still a good impedance matching is achieved considering the−10 dB ***,SAR is also being *** safe limit of 2 W/kg for any 10 g of biological tissue,specified by the European International Electro Technical Commission(IEC)has been *** calculated values of SAR for human body models,i.e.,belly,hand and head are 1.82,1.81 and 1.09 W/kg,*** SAR values are less than the international recommendations for the three ***,the simulated and measured results of the antenna are in close agreement,which makes it,a potential candidate for the fifth-generation smart phones and other handheld devices.

Upshot of Chemical Species and Nonlinear Thermal Radiation on Oldroyd-B Nanofluid Flow Past a Bi-directional Stretched Surface with Heat Generation/Absorption in a Porous Media

A three-dimensional mathematical model is developed to examine the flow of nonlinear thermal radiation Oldroyd-B nanofluid past a bidirectional linearly stretched surface in a porous medium. The flow is induced by temperature dependent thermal conductivity, chemical reaction and convective heat and mass conditions. Novel characteristics of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are accompanied by magnetohydrodynamic and heat generation/***-similar transformations are employed to convert the system of nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of ordinary differential equations with high nonlinearity and are solved by strong analytic technique named as Homotopy Analysis method(HAM). Effects of varied arising parameters on involved distributions are reflected through graphical illustrations. From this study, it is perceived that strong magnetic field hinders the fluid's motion and leads to rise in temperature that eventually lowers heat transfer rate from the surface. Further, decrease in heat transfer rate is also observed for enhanced values of thermal radiation parameter. To validate our results, a comparison with already published paper in limiting case is also given and results are found in excellent oncurrence; hence reliable results are being presented.
