Iron and Manganese contents and parameters including pH, conductivity, and organic matter contents were determined in the sediments of the Okpara dam in Northern Benin. Fifteen samples were collected during a one-month period and analysed in laboratory using the method of sequential extraction of Tessier. The analyses indicated that sediments contained high concentrations in reducible fraction of Iron and relatively high contents of exchangeable fraction, acidhydrolysable fraction and residual fraction of Manganese. The findings of this study confirmed the hypotheses that the meal contents of the sediments were relatively high and varied according to the geochemical phases.

This study focuses on the valuation and optimization of local materials to meet the challenge of sustainable development. Faced with climate change and the preservation of the environment, research into eco-materials is necessary to reduce the energy bill while ensuring comfort and safety. The objective is to make a comparative characterization of the physico-mechanical properties of compressed earth bricks made from local materials: clay, laterite and sand. These are, on the one hand, bricks made from clay and laterite, reinforced with a percentage of sand varying between 20% and 30% in steps of 5%., were made. On the other hand, these same mixtures stabilized with 5% cement (CEM II-32.5) are also used to produce bricks. A characterization of the raw materials was made before studying the physico-mechanical properties of the bricks themselves. This involved evaluating the water absorbency and compressive strength of stabilized and unstabilized bricks. Urinary Tract Infections Identified in the Preoperative and Their Sensitivities to Antibiotics

Introduction: Urinary tract infection is a public health problem. Patients who have to undergo urology surgery are exposed to infectious complications if there is an untreated urinary tract infection. The objective of our study is to identify all the germs responsible for urinary tract infections discovered in the preoperative assessment of hospitalized patients with their susceptibility and antibiotic resistance profiles. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective and descriptive study of 124 cases of cytobacteriological examination of urine collected over 2 years from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2017, performed in the urology department of the University Hospital of Bocar S. Sall of Kati. The parameters studied were: age, sex, reason for admission, the diagnosis chosen, the result of the cytobacteriological examination of urine and the antibiogram. Results: We collected 124 cases of cytobacteriological examination of urine during this period. The average age of our patients was 58 years old with extremes ranging from 3 years to 84 years. The sex ratio was 6 in favor of men. 86 patients, or 69%, were admitted for micturition disorders. In 53.2%, the diagnosis was BPH followed by urolithiasis 22.6%. Cytobacteriological examination of urine identified 55 cases of urinary infection, 44%. In 34 cases or 60%, the germ responsible was an E. coli. Two germs were sensitive only to one antibiotic. Conclusion: This study made it possible to have an idea about the antibiotic susceptibility of germs involved in urinary tract infections. Awareness-raising for the proper use of antibiotics needs to be strengthened to minimize the risk of increasing antibiotic resistance.

Today, energy is a vital component in the functioning of a hospital. Hospital technical facilities have several types of technologies, these include appliances for use;examination apparatus. So, for Quality Health Care in a hospital, there is a need to ensure the proper functioning of hospital equipment. In addition to the required maintenance as specified by the device manufacturer, the quality of the electrical energy across the device must be ensured. This article is an analysis of the quality of electric energy at the substation of National Hospital of Niamey. Thereby, the data collection, followed by the data processing and analysis revealed the parameters characterizing the quality of electrical energy across the substation. Our studies have shown that the substation is underutilized as the maximum inrush current is less than half the available current. The current was consumed by the three phases has resulted in a strong current unbalance (230 A). Practical resolution of consolidation problems that we often face requires an extensive and solid knowledge of the different parameters highlighted by the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation theory. This theory, with its assumptions, leads to a partial differential equation of second order in space and first order in time of pore water pressure. Analytical and numerical resolutions of this equation allow determining the water pressure variation before and after the application of a charge. Numerical modeling has enabled the simulation of the whole results obtained by the two methods of resolution (pressure, degree of consolidation, time factor, among others) to have a physical analysis and a lawful observation that lead to a suitable understanding of the phenomenon of Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation.

自交不亲和是植物避免近亲繁殖保持优良种性的重要途径,梅是典型的配子体(GSI)自交不亲和植物。本研究采用等位基因特异性PCR(AS-PCR,allele-specific PCR)和序列测定等技术,分别以梅S-RNase基因与SFB基因核苷酸序列保守区设计引物Pru-C2和PCE-R、SFB-C1F和Pm-Vb,然后以11个品种的基因组DNA为模板进行AS-PCR扩增和PCR产物测序。经过序列对比分析明确了11个梅品种的S-RNase基因型与SFB基因型,分别为软条红梅(S14S13)(F-box2/SFB14)、小叶猪肝(S3S33)(SFB51/SFB53)、中红(S3S24)(SFB2/SFB24)、青佳915(S3S15)(SFB2/SFB43)、美林红(S1S37)(SFB1/SFB24)、赤凤红梅(S14S38)(SFB12/SFB49)、大龙梅(S20S30)(SFB7/SFB41)、红光梅(S3S33)(SFB24/SFB55)、南农丰羽(S3S5)(SFB31/SFB43)、南农丰娇(S3S6)(SFB2/SFB47)、南农龙霞(S15S37)(SFB41/SFB43)。对获得的S-RNase基因与SFB基因序列进一步分析发现,除了已知的S-RNase基因与SFB基因外,还鉴定到S37-RNase、S38-RNase 2个未登录的新S-RNase基因与SFB47、SFB49、SFB51、SFB53、SFB555个未登录的新SFB基因,并将其序列登录在Gen Bank数据库,其登录号分别为MT950061、MT950062,以及MW186463、MW186465、MW186467、MW186469、MW186471。研究结果为梅生产栽培、授粉树的配置和提高育种效率提供了依据。

Pericallosal Artery Aneurysms: Twenty-Six Years of Microneurosurgical Endeavor in Three Major Neurosurgical Centers in Abidjan

We present our experience of microsurgical treatment of pericallosal artery aneurysms (PCAA) in three neurosurgical centers in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) from 1990 to 2016. This present study aimed to evaluate characteristics of 6 patients with PCAA treated during a 26-year period and to establish the rate, clinical nuances, anatomical variations and respective microsurgical approaches of PCAA in Abidjan. We analyzed medical files of all 93 patients admitted for an intracranial aneurysm between 1990 and 2016 and focused on the 6 patients who were treated for a PCCA. The mean age of patients was 37 years, half of whom were less than 30 years old. They were 3 men and 3 women. The time from first symptom to admission was more than 3 days, but less than 16 days. Five out of six patients had ruptured aneurysms and the clinical condition on admission was WFNS grade 0 one patient (16.67%) and WFNS I-III five patients (83.33%). Analysis of radiological data revealed Fischer grade IV three patients and Fischer grade I-II three patients. A total of 7 PCCA were recorded and they accounted for 6.19% of all intracranial aneurysms and 9.72% of all anterior circulation aneurysms. Six out of seven aneurysms (85.71%) were either smaller (2 - 6 mm) or middle sized (6 - 15 mm). There was only one (14.29%) giant PCA aneurysm (>25 mm). According to the location, two aneurysms (28.57%) were located on the A2 segment of the pericallosal artery (PCA) and five (71.43%) on the A3 segment of the artery. We found 4 cases of saccular aneurysms (57.14%) and 3 cases of fusiform aneurysms (42.86%), two of which were located on A2 segments of the 2 PCA on the same patient (16.67%). We didn’t find any PCA anatomical variation associated with any of the 7 aneurysms. Two patients developed perioperative rebleeding and in 1 case a severe preoperative hydrocephalus was diagnosed. Spinal Cord Compression Caused by Multifocal Histoplasmosis Treated Conservatively: Case Report and Literature Review

We present the case of a 39-year-old patient admitted for a slow thoracic spinal cord compression syndrome associated with lumbar rachialgia. CT scan and MRI of the thoracic spine showed lysis of T4, T5, T6 and T7 vertebrae, an epiduritis and paravertebral abscesses. CT scan of the lumbar spine demonstrated osteolysis of the left iliac wing with skin invasion. This lesion infiltrated the sacrum and the body of L5. The iliac lesion was biopsied and the analysis revealed a granulomatous osteitis caused by Histoplasma duboisii. The treatment consisted of ketoconazole 400 mg daily for six months. Spinal decompressive surgery was not performed. Following antifungal treatment the patient had satisfying clinical and radiological outcome. After three years’ follow-up, the clinical course was uneventful. The patient had neither symptoms of spinal cord compression nor signs of further localizations.

The Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS), also known as veno-occlusive disease (VOD), is a well-known complication of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, of the treatment of Wilms tumor and rhabdomyosarcoma and maintenance therapy of acute lymphoblastic leukemias. Its occurrence is rare in other cancers of the child. We report the observation of a 7-year-old girl with Burkitt’s lymphoma who developed a severe HSOS during her second induction treatment with dexamethasone, cisplatin, cytosine arabinoside. The evolution was fatal. This observation shows that the diagnosis of HSOS should not be excluded in the absence of the risk factors usually described.
