Adults with Congenital Heart Disease during the COVID-19 Era:One-Year Tertiary Center Experience

Background:Adult patients with congenital heart disease(ACHD)might be at high risk of Coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19).This study aimed to report on a one-year tertiary center experience regards COVID-19 infection in ACHD ***:This is a one-year(March-2020 to March-2021)tertiary-center retrospective study that enrolled all ACHD patients;COVID-19 positive patients’medical records,and management were ***:We recorded 542 patients,205(37.8%)COVID-19-positive,and 337(62.2%)COVID-19-negative *** single ventricle and Eisenmenger syndrome patients were more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection(P<0.05*).Cardiovascular COVID-19 complications were arrhythmias in 47(22.9%)patients,heart failure in 39(19.0%)patients,cyanosis in 12(5.9%)patients,stroke/TIA in 5(2.4%)patients,hypertension and infective endocarditis in 2(1.0%)patients for each,pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary embolism in 1(0.5%)patient for each.11(5.4%)patients were managed with home isolation,147(71.7%)patients required antibiotics,32(15.6%)patients required intensive care unit(ICU),8(3.9%)patients required inotropes,7(3.4%)patients required mechanical ventilation,and 2(1.0%)patients required extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO).Thromboprophylaxis was given to all 46(22.4%)hospitalized *** College of Cardiology/American Heart Association classification revealed that complex lesions,and FC-C/D categories were more likely to develop severe/critical symptoms,that required mechanical ventilation and ECMO(P<0.05*).Mortality was reported in 3(0.6%)patients with no difference between groups(P=0.872).193(35.6%)patients were ***:COVID-19 infection in ACHD patients require individualized risk stratification and *** syndrome,single ventricle palliation,complex lesions,and FC-C/D patients were more vulnerable to severe/critical symptoms that required ICU admission,mechanical ventilation,and *** vaccine was mostly tolerable.

Incidence and predictors of hypocalcemia in end-stage renal disease patients on denosumab therapy: A systematic review and metaanalysis

BACKGROUND Denosumab inhibits the receptor activator of nuclear factor *** markedly increases bone mineral density and has been proven to reduce the risk of ***,numerous adverse effects,notably hypocalcemia,are prevalent in patients with end-stage renal disease(ESRD).AIM To analyze the incidence and predictors of hypocalcemia caused by denosumab compared to control in patients with *** We conducted this study in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses ***,Scopus,Cochrane Central,and EMBASE were systematically searched from inception through March *** original studies investigating the effects of denosumab on patients with ESRD compared to control were *** primary outcomes of our study were the incidence of mild,severe,and very severe *** outcomes included serum levels of intact parathyroid hormone,calcium,and *** results were pooled and analyzed using a random-effects *** Seven articles comprising 3240 patients were included in our *** treated with denosumab had a significantly increased incidence of mild hypocalcemia[risk ratio(RR):2.79;95%confidence interval(CI):0.99-7.91;P=0.05;I^(2)=37%]and of very severe hypocalcemia(RR:9.58;95%CI:1.58-57.98;P=0.01;I^(2)=49%).However,an increase in the occurrence of severe hypocalcemia was non-significant(RR:4.23;95%CI:0.47-38.34;P=0.20;I^(2)=96%).Alternatively,denosumab showed a significant decrease in serum intact parathyroid hormone[mean difference(MD):-433.20,95%CI:-775.12 to-91.28,I2=98%,P=0.01],while there was a non-significant decrease in phosphate(MD:-0.47,95%CI:-1.35 to 0.41,I^(2)=88%,P=0.30)and calcium levels(MD:-0.33,95%CI:-0.95 to 0.29,I^(2)=94%,P=0.29).CONCLUSION Our study demonstrated that denosumab is significantly associated with mild and very severe hypocalcemia in patients with ESRD making it necessary to detect and prevent this side effect of treatmen

Effect of silica fume on the fresh and hardened properties of fly ash-based self-compacting geopolymer concrete

The effect of silica fume on the fresh and hardened properties of fly ash-based self-compacting geopolymer concrete （SCGC） was investigated in this paper. The work focused on the concrete mixes with a fixed water-to-geopolymer solid （W/Gs） ratio of 0.33 by mass and a constant total binder content of 400 kg/m3. The mass fractions of silica fume that replaced fly ash in this research were 0wt%, 5wt%, 10wt%, and 15wt%. The workability-related fresh properties of SCGC were assessed through slump flow, V-funnel, and L-box test methods. Hardened concrete tests were limited to compressive, splitting tensile and flexural strengths, all of which were measured at the age of 1, 7, and 28 d after 48-h oven curing. The results indicate that the addition of silica fume as a partial replacement of fly ash results in the loss of workability; nevertheless, the mechanical properties of hardened SCGC are significantly improved by incorporating silica fume, especially up to 10wt%. Applying this percentage of silica fume results in 4.3% reduction in the slump flow; however, it increases the compressive strength by 6.9%, tensile strength by 12.8% and flexural strength by 11.5%.

选择性催化还原烟气脱硝技术(SCR)是去除电站锅炉烟气中氮氧化物的有效方法之一。在SCR中使用商用催化剂VO/Ti O的运行成本较高,但是FeO金属氧化物催化剂具有较高的成本效益和效率。本文的重点是利用煤灰催化剂以及NH3选择性催化还原NO的实验研究。本文选择了各种具有不同元素组成的原煤样品,以分析选择性催化还原的性能。将煤样品粉碎成不同的粒径,并在不同温度(800 C至1800C)下煅烧以影响催化剂的性能。通过氮吸附法测量煤灰的BET比表面积。XRD用于表征煤灰催化剂的相结构,SEM用于分析催化剂的形态。最佳SCR性能的实验是在200C-550C的范围内进行的。同时,用不同的FeO负载量负载煤灰催化剂,以分析氧化铁含量对SCR性能的影响。根据实验结果,随着煅烧温度的升高,粉煤灰的比表面积减小,极大地影响了SCR的性能。实验结果证明,随着氧化钙含量的降低,煤灰的催化性能提高。较低比例的氧化钙以及较小的煤灰粒径有助于提高SCR性能,但是NO浓度对SCR性能影响很小。8%FeO负载的粉煤灰催化剂在较低空速(15000h)下具有70%的最高催化效率。将氧化铁以最佳的含量添加到煤灰中,以获得具有优异SCR性能的比表面积。

X-linked redegreen color blindness is the most widespread form of vision *** study aimed to determine the prevalence and gene frequencies of redegreen color vision impairments among children of six different human populations of Jammu province.A total of 1028 healthy subjects(6e15 years of age)were selected from five Muslim populations and the color vision impairments were determined using the Ishihara’s test of color *** gene frequency was calculated using HardyeWeinberg equilibrium *** prevalence of color vision deficiency(CVD)ranged from 5.26%to 11.36%among males and 0.00%e3.03%among females of six different *** gender based differences in the frequency of CVD was found to be statistically significant(p<0.0001),with a higher prevalence among male(7.52%)as compared to female(0.83%)*** observed high frequency of deutan as compared to protan *** incidences of deuteranomaly(5.68%)and deuteranopia(2.27%)were higher among male children of Syed population while the frequencies of protanomaly(1.94%),protanopia(1.28%)and achromacy(2.27%)were the highest among male subjects of Khan,Malik and Syed populations,*** allele and genotype frequencies showed cogent differences among six *** population based assessment of CVDs help patients to follow adaptive strategies that could minimize the risks of the disease.

Evaluation of chemopreventive effect of Fumaria indica against N-nitrosodiethylamine and CCl_4-induced hepatocellular carcinoma in Wistar rats

Objective:To investigation the chemopreventive potential of Fumaria indica（***） extract（FIE） on N-nitrosodiethylamine and CCl4-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in Wislar ***:The experimental animals were divided into six groups（n=6）.Hepatocellular carcinoma was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of N-nitrosodiethylamine（NDEA） in normal saline at a dose of 200 mg/kg body weight followed by weekly subcutaneous injections of CCl4（3 mL/kg/week） for 6 weeks,as the promoter of carcinogenic *** administration of the carcinogen,200 and 400 mg/kg of FIE were administered orally once a day throughout the *** the end of 20 weeks,the body weight,liver weight and relative liver weight were *** percentage of nodule incidence and liver cancer markers such as aspartate transaminase（AST）,alanine transaminase（ALT）,alkaline phosphatase（ALP）,γ-glutamyl transferase（γ-GT）,total bilirubin level（TBL）,α-feto protein（AFP） and carcinoembryonic antigen were estimated along with histopathological investigation in experimental groups of rats. Results:Obtained results demonstrated that the cotreatment with FIE significantly prevented the decrease of the body weight and also increased in relative liver weight caused by NDEA. The treatment with FIE significantly reduced the nodule incidence and nodule multiplicity in the rats after NDEA *** levels of liver cancer markers such as AST,ALT,ALP,γ-glutamyl transferase,TBL,AFP and carcinoembryonic antigen were substantially increased by NDEA ***,FIE treatment significantly reduced the liver injury and restored the entire liver cancer *** observations of liver tissues too correlated with the biochemical ***:These finding powerfully supports that *** exert chemopreventive effect by suppressing the tumor burden and restoring the activities of hepatic cancer marker enzymes on NDEA and CCl4-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in Wis
