The effect of chemical modification, reinforcement structure and fiber weight ratio on the flexural proprieties of Luffa-polyester composites was studied. A unsaturated polyester matrix reinforced with a mat of Luffa external wall fibers (ComLEMat), a short Luffa external wall fibers(ComLEBC) and a short Luffa core fi-bers (ComLCBC) was fabricated under various conditions of fibers treatments (combined process, acetylat-ing and cyanoethylating) and fiber weight ratio. It resorts that acetylating and cyanoethylating enhance the flexural strength and the flexural modulus. The fiber weight ratio influenced the flexural properties of com-posites. Indeed, a maximum value of strength and strain is observed over a 10% fiber weight ratio. The uses of various reinforcement structures were investigated. The enhancement of elongation at break and the strain values of the composite reinforced by natural mat was proved.

The performance prediction of hygienic products can be a major advantage for manufacturers. Among the interesting performances to be expected, we find the absorption capacity. This is a parameter governed by the composition of the absorbent core, particularly the fibrous component and the characteristics of the superabsorbent polymer (SAP). Thus, various theoretical models have been established to predict the absorption capacity. All these models have taken into account the nature of the fibrous support and the ratio of superabsorbent polymer. Certainly, other factors, less obvious in their modelling, are involved in determining the performance such as the homogeneity of the mixture formed by the fluff and SAP, the distribution of polymer particles in the entire structure, the porous structure, the shape of the capillary, the nature of the nonwoven webs used, etc. Various theoretical models are proposed here to describe the absorption capacity and we will outline the model which best describes this performance. The experimental test results are discussed to verify if the theoretical model selected can be confirmed.

Natural fibers are nowadays increasingly employed for making nonwoven, replacing the synthetic materials due to economic and environmental considerations. In this setting, we examine the use of Alfa fibers in nonwoven. Extracted Alfa fibers present satisfying mechanical properties that allow them to be used to produce nonwoven textiles materials. Therefore, Alfa fibers are, mainly, blended with cotton, polyester, Tencel and wool. Webs are prepared using cotton or wool cards in regular width. The nonwoven consolidation is made by needle-punching method. The weight, thickness, air permeability, adiathermic capacity and tensile properties are investigated. The results exhibit that the air permeability increases with the increase of Alfa fibers ratio for the nonwoven Alfa blended with short fibers. It decreases in case of Alfa/Wool blend. We can conclude also that the nonwoven Alfa blended with wool fibers have the highest properties values for all the Alfa fibers blends. Data also revealed that the tensile properties are reduced with the increment of Alfa fibers ratio.

Surface Morphology Investigation of Tunisian Dromedary Hair

In raw materials of dromedary hair, there are two distinct fibre populations： The fine one is of textile relevance and the coarse one is rather worthless and must be as a rule separated prior to spinning and subsequent processing. The fibre surface morphology and fibre fineness of Tunisian dromedary hair has been investigated by means of scanning electron microscope （SEM）. SEM microscopic method provides the fibre diameter, the scale shape, the scale frequency and scale height. The results show that dehaired dromedary fibre presents a relatively low mean fibre diameter （≈ 17 μm） with a high coefficient of variation （CV ≈ 25%）. The scales of the dromedary fibre are on average extremely long and quite visible, they tend not to protrude from the fibre, appear almost convex, and provide a wavy appearance in profile of the relatively coarse fibre. On counting the scale frequency, that is, the number of scale margins within a determined fibre length of 100 μm on the surface of a fine （diameter 〈 30 μm） and coarse （diameter 〉 30 μm） dromedary fibre, comes out roughly five at eight and eight at twelve scale margins, respectively. The mean height of the cuticle scale is 0.12μm and 0.24 μm, respectively, for fine and coarse dromedary fibre. These explain why dromedary fibres present a soft touch due to the prominence of the scale edges. This aspect of the surface structure has a high correlation with the felting capacity of the matter, and contributes to the concepts of handle and gloss.

This paper is devoted to the mathematical analysis of a general recursive linearization algorithm for solving inverse medium problems with multi-frequency measurements. Under some reasonable assumptions, it is shown that the algorithm is convergent with error estimates. The work is motivated by our effort to analyze recent significant numerical results for solving inverse medium problems. Based on the uncertainty principle, the recursive linearization allows the nonlinear inverse problems to be reduced to a set of linear problems and be solved recursively in a proper order according to the measurements. As an application, the convergence of the recursive linearization algorithm [Chen, Inverse Problems 13（1997）, pp.253-282] is established for solving the acoustic inverse scattering problem.

The paper is concerned with the reconstruction of a defect in the core of a two-dimensional open waveguide from the scattering data. Since only a finite numbers of modes can propagate without attenuation inside the core, the problem is similar to the one-dimensional inverse medium problem. In particular, the inverse problem suffers from a lack of uniqueness and is known to be severely ill-posed. To overcome these difficulties, we consider multi-frequency scattering data. The uniqueness of solution to the inverse problem is established from the far field scattering information over an interval of low frequencies.

The conventional 2D metrics can be used for measuring the quality of depth maps,but none of them is considered to be efficient and is not accurate when used for evaluating 3D *** this paper,we propose a new full reference objective metric,called Sparse Representations-Mean Squared Error(SR-MSE),which efficiently evaluates the depth maps compression *** adaptively models the reference and compressed depth maps in a mixed redundant transform domain dedicated to depth ***,it computes the mean squared error between the sparse coefficients issued from this *** a benchmark of quality assessment,we perform a subjective evaluation test for depth maps compressed using the latest 3D High Efficiency Video Coding standard at various *** compare the subjective results with the proposed and conventional objective *** results demonstrate that the proposed SR-MSE,compared to the conventional image quality assessment metrics,yields the highest correlated scores to the subjective ones.
