Obstetrical Fistula: Clinical, Therapeutic and Prognostic Aspects at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Borgou University Hospital Center in Benin

Introduction: Obstetric Fistula (OF) is a tragedy and a public health problem (physical, social, moral and psychological). Objective: To determine the clinical, therapeutic and prognostic aspects of obstetric fistula at CHUD/B-A maternity ward in 2016. Study Method: This is a descriptive, analytic study with prospective data collection from March 07 to December 31, 2016. Patients with obstetric fistula were the study population. Results: A total of 37 patients were treated including 35 operated, the other two not operated for pyuria and bladder calculus after examination under spinal anesthesia. The average age was 36.6 ± 10.5 years with the extremes of 21 years and 65 years. The mean age of onset of Obstetric Fistula (OF) was 28.9 ± 6.5 years. Patients came from southern Benin (51.4%), were married (67.6%), peasant (35.1%) and out of school (81.1%). The types of OF were vesico-vaginal fistula (VVF) (62.2%), urethro-vaginal fistula (24.3%), vesico-uterine fistula (VUF) (5.4%), and uretero-vaginal fistula (2.7%). The fistula site was supra trigonal (54.1%), urethral (18.9%), trigonal (10.8%), vesico-uterine (10.8%), cervical urethral (2.7%), ureteroid vaginal (2.7%). Fistulas were complex (70.3%), complicated (24.3%) and simple (5.4%). The vaginal route was one of the first routes (64.9%). The operative techniques used were CHASSAR MOIR hysterorrhaphy (74.3%). The cure with continence was 68.6%. Conclusion: OF is observed in young women of childbearing age. VVF is the most common. The management is surgical with several operating techniques. Healing is possible. Hence the importance of paying special attention to these patients for their care.

effect of Ambient Temperature and Humidity Conditions on the efficacy of Organic Treatments against Varroa destructor in Different Climatic Zones of Chile

Varroasis is a disease caused by the mite Varroa destructor, which affects honeybees worldwide. It is estimated that it entered Chile in 1992, and it must be controlled through different types of treatments such as thymol, formic and oxalic acid in different formulations and presentations. This kind of organic products has shown a variable acaricidal capacity, since different factors affect their efficacy such as ambient temperature and humidity, product presentation and location inside the hive, etc.. In Chile, beekeeping takes place in four different climatic zones, in which ambient temperature and humidity as well as the duration of the apicultural season are different. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine how ambient temperature and humidity influence the efficacy of the organic treatments used in the beekeeping season. Different apiaries were installed in those climatic zones in three seasons between the years 2009 and 2012. All beehives received the same management in each apiary and it was evaluated the same organic treatments in different formulations and presentations. All the beehives were positive to Varroa, which was obtained using samples of adult bees and the soapy water test before and after each treatment. A thermo-hygrometer was installed in each apiary in order to monitor the ambient temperature (T°) and humidity (H°) conditions, which were registered daily for a period of 30 days since the beginning. It was obtained that the treatments" efficacy increases as the minimum T° and average T° rose, whereas on the contrary, the efficacy decreases when maximum H° was higher.

c-Fos overexpression increases the proliferation of human hepatocytes by stabilizing nuclear Cyclin D1

AIM: To investigate the effect of stable c-Fos overexpression on immortalized human hepatocyte (IHH) proliferation. MeTHODS: IHHs stably transfected with c-Fos (IHH-Fos) or an empty vector (IHH-C) were grown in medium supplemented with 1% serum or stimulated with 10% serum. Cell proliferation was assessed by cell counts, 3H-thymidine uptake and fl ow cytometry analyses. The levels of cell cycle regulatory proteins (Cyclin D1, e, A) cyclin dependent kinases (cdk) cdk2, cdk4, cdk6, and their inhibitors p15, p16, p21, p27, to- tal and phosphorylated GSK-3β and epidermal growth factor receptor (eGF-R) were assayed by Western blot- ting. Analysis of Cyclin D1 mRNA levels was performed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis. Stability of Cyclin D1 was studied by cycloheximide blockade experiments. ReSULTS: Stable c-Fos overexpression increased cell proliferation under low serum conditions and resulted in a two-fold increase in [3H]-thymidine incorpora- tion following serum addition. Cell cycle analysis by fl ow cytometry showed that c-Fos accelerated the cell cycle kinetics. Following serum stimulation, Cyclin D1 was more abundantly expressed in c-Fos overexpressing cells. Cyclin D1 accumulation did not result from increased transcriptional activation, but from nuclear stabilization. Overexpression of c-Fos correlated with higher nuclear levels of inactive phosphorylated GSK- 3β, a kinase involved in Cyclin D1 degradation and higher levels of eGF-R mRNA, and eGF-R protein compared to IHH-C both in serum starved, and in serum stimulated cells. Abrogation of eGF-R signalling in IHH- Fos by treatment with AG1478, a specif ic eGF-R tyrosine kinase inhibitor, prevented the phosphorylation of GSK-3β induced by serum stimulation and decreased Cyclin D1 stability in the nucleus. T-lymphoblastic lymphoma with cutaneous involvement

To study dermatological manifestation of T-lymphoblastic lymphoma and to help clinicians in the diagnosis, we report here the case of a 75-year-old patient who presented with violaceous nodules acquired during the last 4 wk and affecting the scalp and right arm. The diagnosis of systemic lymphoma was suggested upon the appearance of cutaneous tumors, palpable lymph nodes and general symptoms including asthenia and weight-loss. The pathology features: positive immunostaining for CD3 and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(Td T) and staging, led us to the final diagnosis of T-lymphoblastic lymphoma(T-LBL) with cutaneous involvement. He received a CHOP regimen as first-line treatment. Unfortunately, the patient relapsed and died 8 mo after the treatment initiation. T-LBL may be diagnosed by skin lesions. Additional immunostaining including Td T and experienced histopathologists are needed to correctly classify this aggressive disease and discuss the correct management including bone-marrow transplantation where appropriate.

Multielemental Microanalysis in Root and Leaves, Growth and Biomass in Tomato Seedling in Response to Ca Levels and Induction of Stress: Non-Destructive Spectroscopy

Tomatoes are one of the main vegetables in the food industry that are consumed fresh and processed. A multi-element microanalysis was performed with the use of scanning electron microscopy (SeM) in conjunction with energy dispersion spectroscopy (eDS), to see changes in nutrient concentration in roots and leaves, as well as fresh and dry biomass in tomato seedlings. exposed in nutrient solution (NS) with different levels of Ca (control, 25, 50 and 100 mM). The root was put in also to H2O2 for 8 hours to observe the changes that occurred. It was observed that NS with 100 mM Ca in fresh stem biomass and fresh leaf biomass increased by 25% and 38% compared to the control. It was observed that the NS with 100 and 50 mM of Ca, the content of Ca and Cl in foliar tissue increased by 34.50% and 13.15% compared to the control. Treatment with H2O2 and with 25 and 100 mM of Ca at NS increased the height of the seedling and fresh leaf bio-mass by 19.75% and 60.80% compared to the control. The treatment with H2O2 and with the different levels of Ca in the NS increased the content of C, P, K, Ca and Cl in the leaf tissue. Only S was significant for the control. Treatment with H2O2 and 100 mM Ca in the NS increased Ca and Mg by 83.48% and 40.47% for the root compared to the control. The K and Cl in the root was higher in the control treatment by 47.61% and 55% respect to the highest level of Ca. It is concluded that multielemental microanalysis is a powerful, non-destructive, fast and accurate tool for the determination of plant nutrients. Also, it is applicable for the areas like horticulture, physiology and agronomy.

随着中国政府“一带一路”战略的提出与实施,中国政府也给外国人提供了很多的来华留学及体验中国文化的机会。前人对不同的对象及其汉语学习目的需求进行了研究,并得出相关的结论。印尼是多民族的国家,在印尼有很多华裔在积极地学习汉语。目前很多华裔选择直接赴中国来学习汉语。因此,本人作为一名印尼华裔留学生认为:更进一步并有针对性地了解来穗印尼华裔对汉语学习的需求是有必要的。需求分析从上个世纪七十年代以来一直都是第二语言教学的研究热点。本人在梳理二语教学文献的基础上,采用问卷调查的方法和个人访谈的形式,针对来穗印尼华裔留学生这一特定群体进行了需求分析调查。本论文主要分为五章:第一部分为引言,介绍文章的研究背景、研究目的、文献综述、研究意义及研究方法。第二部分为研究方法设计,包括研究对象、研究方式、调查工具、数据收集。第三部分为问卷调查及分析,包括华裔留学生的基本情况、目标愿望需求分析、学习环境需求分析、学习内容需求分析。第四部分为访谈调查及分析,包括访谈设计、访谈对象、访谈结果与分析。本研究以广东外语外贸大学、华南师范大学和暨南大学华文学院的110名印尼华裔留学生为调查对象,了解了他们的汉语学习需求情况,并在第五部分从“学校”和“教师”两个方面提出了针对来穗印尼华裔留学生汉语教学的相关建议。

Missense mutations of the fibrillin-1 gene in two Chinese patients with severe Marfan syndrome

Objective To describe two Chinese patients with severe forms of Marfan syndrome and to report findings of mutational analysis of the fibrillin-1 (FBN1) *** Two Chinese patients were studied, one suffering from Marfan syndrome of infantile onset and the other of neonatal onset. Their clinical features were described. Mutational analysis of the FBN1 gene was performed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique and direct sequencing of exons 23 - 32,where the mutational hotspots for severe forms of Marfan syndrome are *** Two missense mutations were successfully identified, a G3037A transition and an A3083T transversion, the latter being an unreported *** Taking advantage of the clustering phenomenon of mutations in severe forms of Marfan syndrome, one can identify FBN1 mutations in these patients by first screening the mutational hotspots,thus reducing the effort that would otherwise be much greater because of the size of the gene.
