Analysis of the Global Burden of Disease study highlights the trends in death and disability-adjusted life years of leukemia from 1990 to 2017

Background:The patterns of leukemia burden have dramatically changed in recent years.This study aimed to estimate the global trends of leukemiarelated death and disability-adjusted life-years(DALYs)from 1990 to 2017.Methods:The data was acquired from the latest version of the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)study.Estimated annual percentage changes(EAPCs)were calculated to estimate the trend of age-standardized rate(ASR)of death and DALYs due to leukemia and its main subtypes from 1990 to 2017.Results:Globally,the numbers of death and DALYs due to leukemia were 347.58×10^(3)(95%uncertainty interval[UI]=317.26×10^(3)-364.88×10^(3))and 11975.35×10^(3)(95%UI=10749.15×10^(3)-12793.58×10^(3))in 2017,with a 31.22% and 0.03% increase in absolute numbers from 1990 to 2017,respectively.Both of their ASR showed decreasing trends from 1990 to 2017 with the EAPCs being−1.04(95%confidence interval[CI]=(−1.10-−0.99)and−1.52(95%CI=−1.59-−1.44),respectively.Globally,the most pronounced decreasing trend of death and DALYs occurred in chronic myeloid leukemia with EAPCs of−2.76(95%CI=−2.88-−2.64)and−2.84(95%CI=−2.97-−2.70),respectively,while the trend increased in acute myeloid leukemia.The death and DALYs of leukemia decreased in most areas and countries with high socio-demographic index(SDI)including Bahrain,Finland,and Australia.Conclusions:The disease burden of death and DALYs due to leukemia decreased globally,and for most regions and countries from 1990 to 2017.However,the leukemia burden is still a substantial challenge globally and required adequate and affordable medical resources to improve the survival and quality of life of leukemia patients.

目的分析广东老年人(≥65岁)血浆白细胞介素-6(interleukin-6,IL-6)、肿瘤坏死因子-α(tumor necrosis factor-α,TNF-α)水平与轻度认知功能障碍(mild cognitive impairment,MCI)的关联。方法选取广东某社区卫生服务中心就诊的48例老年MCI患者作为病例组,96例无MCI的老年人作为对照组。采用logistic回归分析血浆IL-6、TNF-α水平与MCI的关联。绘制受试者工作特征(receiver operating characteristic,ROC)曲线评估血浆IL-6、TNF-α水平对MCI的诊断价值。结果共纳入144名老年人,其中48名MCI患者,63名男性(43.8%)。多因素logistic回归分析结果显示,血浆IL-6、TNF-α水平升高可使MCI患病风险增加,血浆IL-6、TNF-α水平每增高1个s,MCI患病风险分别增加53%和51%(OR=1.53,95%CI:1.02~2.29,P=0.040;OR=1.51,95%CI:1.04~2.20,P=0.029)。血浆IL-6、TNF-α的ROC曲线下面积分别为0.60、0.64。结论血浆IL-6和TNF-α水平升高可能与≥65岁老年人MCI患病风险的增加有关。

Effect of fore/aft-loaded rotor on compressor stability under inlet circumferential distortion

A modified small perturbation stability prediction model for axial compressors with circumferential inlet distortions is established and applied to investigate the effect of fore/aft-loaded rotor on compressor stability under circumferentially distorted inlet conditions.The inlet total pressure distribution downstream of the distortion screen is measured in experiments and employed for simulations which are implemented via time-space spectral method.The stall inception prediction results via the stability model indicate that the compressor with aft-loaded rotor not only performs better in terms of stability under uniform inlet,but also maintains a larger stability margin under circumferentially distorted inlet.The experiments for compressors with fore-loaded and aft-loaded rotor are respectively carried out.The results validate the reliability of numerical simulations and the predicted conclusion that the aft-loaded rotor is beneficial for compressor stability.Besides,the ability of the developed theoretical model for compressor stability prediction under circumferential distortions is confirmed.In addition,dynamic pressure signals at rotor tip measured in experiments illustrate that the circumferential distortion has little effect on the compressor stall pattern.

Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)have become a promising platform in valleytronics due to possessing the regulatable valley degrees of freedom.While,as a result of the rapid intervalley scattering,it is difficult to measure the PL valley polarization of monolayer TMDCs at room temperature,which limits their application in valleytronics devices.Here,we report a room temperature photoluminescence(PL)valley polarization up to 3.73%in an“optical bilayer”WS_(2)formed by transferring monolayer WS_(2)onto flat Ag film.Furthermore,in the transient absorption(TA)measurements,a remarkably long valley depolarization lifetime is found.Thus,we demonstrate the valley properties of such“optical bilayer”WS_(2)resemble actual bilayer WS_(2),in which the robust valley polarization can be attributed to the phonons depletion effect and the blocked interlayer hopping processes.These peculiar valley features in“optical bilayer”WS_(2)provide a particularly simple method to enhance valley control at room temperature.

A Methodology for Assessing Axial Compressor Stability with Inlet Temperature Ramp Distortion

Based on a small perturbation stability model for periodic flow,the effects of inlet total temperature ramp distortion on the axial compressor are investigated and the compressor stability is quantitatively evaluated.In the beginning,a small perturbation stability model for the periodic flow in compressors is proposed,referring to the governing equations of the Harmonic Balance Method.This stability model is validated on a single-stage low-speed compressor TA36 with uniform inlet flow.Then,the unsteady flow of TA36 with different inlet total temperature ramps and constant back pressure is simulated based on the Harmonic Balance Method.Based on these simulations,the compressor stability is analyzed using the proposed small perturbation model.Further,the Dynamic Mode Decomposition method is employed to accurately extract pressure oscillations.The two parameters of the temperature ramp,ramp rate and Strouhal number,are discussed in this paper.The results indicate the occurrence and extension of hysteresis loops in the rows,and a decrease in compressor stability with increasing ramp rate.Compressor performance is divided into two phases,stable and limit,based on the ramp rate.Furthermore,the model predictions suggest that a decrease in period length and an increase in Strouhal number lead to improved compressor stability.The DMD results imply that for compressors with inlet temperature ramp distortion,the increase of high-order modes and oscillations at the rotor tip is always the signal of decreasing stability.

Sparse Reconstructive Evidential Clustering for Multi-View Data

Although many multi-view clustering(MVC) algorithms with acceptable performances have been presented, to the best of our knowledge, nearly all of them need to be fed with the correct number of clusters. In addition, these existing algorithms create only the hard and fuzzy partitions for multi-view objects,which are often located in highly-overlapping areas of multi-view feature space. The adoption of hard and fuzzy partition ignores the ambiguity and uncertainty in the assignment of objects, likely leading to performance degradation. To address these issues, we propose a novel sparse reconstructive multi-view evidential clustering algorithm(SRMVEC). Based on a sparse reconstructive procedure, SRMVEC learns a shared affinity matrix across views, and maps multi-view objects to a 2-dimensional humanreadable chart by calculating 2 newly defined mathematical metrics for each object. From this chart, users can detect the number of clusters and select several objects existing in the dataset as cluster centers. Then, SRMVEC derives a credal partition under the framework of evidence theory, improving the fault tolerance of clustering. Ablation studies show the benefits of adopting the sparse reconstructive procedure and evidence theory. Besides,SRMVEC delivers effectiveness on benchmark datasets by outperforming some state-of-the-art methods.

In this paper, we study the supervisory control problem of discrete event systems assuming that cyber-attacks might occur. In particular, we focus on the problem of liveness enforcement and consider a sensor-reading modification attack(SM-attack) that may disguise the occurrence of an event as that of another event by intruding sensor communication channels. To solve the problem, we introduce non-deterministic supervisors in the paper, which associate to every observed sequence a set of possible control actions offline and choose a control action from the set randomly online to control the system. Specifically, given a bounded Petri net(PN) as the reference formalism and an SMattack, an algorithm that synthesizes a liveness-enforcing nondeterministic supervisor tolerant to the SM-attack is proposed for the first time.

Plastoelastohydrodynamic lubrication of rough surfaces(R-PEHL)is a cutting-edge area of research in interface fluid-structure coupling analysis.The existing R-PEHL model calculates the elastic-plastic deformation of rough surface by the Love equation in a semi-infinite space smooth surface,which deviates from the actual surface.Therefore,it is an innovative work to study the exact solution of elastic-plastic deformation of rough surface and its influence on the solution results of R-PEHL model.In this paper,a new contact calculation model of plastoelastohydrodynamic lubrication(PEHL)with three-dimensional(3D)rough surface is proposed by integrating numerical method of EHL and finite element method.The new model eliminates an original error introduced by the assumption of semi-infinite space in contact calculation,providing wide applicability and high accuracy.Under the given rough surfaces and working conditions,the study reveals that:(1)the oil film pressure calculated by the new model is lower than that of the smooth surface in semi-infinite space by 200–800 MPa;(2)the Mises stress of the new model is 2.5%–26.6%higher than that of the smooth surface in semi-infinite space;(3)compared with the semi-infinite space assumption,the rough surface plastic deformation of the new model is increased by 71%–173%,and the local plastic deformation singularity may appear under the semi-infinite space assumption;(4)the plastic deformation caused by the first contact cycle on the rough surface of the new model accounts for 66.7%–92.9%of the total plastic deformation,and the plastic deformation of the semi-infinite space accounts for 50%–83.3%.This study resolves the contradiction between the smooth surface assumption and the rough surface in the existing R-PEHL model,establishing a solid logic foundation for the accurate solution of R-PEHL model.

Quantized feedback control is fundamental to system synthesis with limited communication capacity.In sharp contrast to the existing literature on quantized control which requires an explicit dynamical model,the authors study the quadratic stabilization and performance control problems with logarithmically quantized feedback in a direct data-driven framework,where the system state matrix is not exactly known and instead,belongs to an ambiguity set that is directly constructed from a finite number of noisy system data.To this end,the authors firstly establish sufficient and necessary conditions via linear matrix inequalities for the existence of a common quantized controller that achieves our control objectives over the ambiguity set.Then,the authors provide necessary conditions on the data for the solvability of the LMIs,and determine the coarsest quantization density via semi-definite programming.The theoretical results are validated through numerical examples.
