Prognosis of BK polyomavirus nephropathy: 10-year analysis of 133 renal transplant recipients at a single center

Background: BK virus-associated nephropathy (BKVN) is an important cause of chronic allograft dysfunction. The objective of our study was to evaluate the prognosis of BKVN. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the data of 133 renal transplant recipients with BKVN treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University between July 2007 and July 2017. BK viral loads, graft function, and pathologic indexes were compared between initial diagnosis and last follow-up. Results: After a mean follow-up period of 14.4 (range, 0.3–109.6) months after diagnosis of BKVN, BK viruria, and BK viremia become negative in 19.5% and 90.2% of patients, respectively. The mean estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) at last follow- up was lower than at diagnosis of BKVN (18.3 ± 9.2 vs. 32.8 ± 20.6 mL·min^-1·1.73 m^-2, t= 7.426, P < 0.001). Eight (6.0%) patients developed acute rejection after reducing immunosuppression. At last follow-up, the eGFR was significantly lower in patients with subsequent rejection than those without (21.6 ± 9.8 vs. 33.5 ± 20.9 mL·min^-1·1.73 m^-2, t= 3.034, P= 0.011). In 65 repeat biopsies, SV40-T antigen staining remained positive in 40 patients and became negative in the other 20 patients. The eGFR (42.6 ± 14.3 vs. 26.5 ± 12.3 mL·min^-1·1.73 m^-2), urine viral loads (median, 1.3 × 105vs. 1.4 × 107 copies/mL), and plasma viral load (median, 0 vs. 0 copies/mL) were all significantly lower in patients with negative SV40-T antigen staining than those with persistent BK involvement (all, P < 0.05). Five (3.8%) recipients lost their graft at diagnosis of BKVN, and 13 (9.8%) lost their graft during the follow-up period. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year graft survival rates after diagnosis of BKVN were 99.2%, 90.7%, and 85.7%, respectively. Higher pathologic stage correlated with lower allograft survival rate (χ^2= 6.341, P= 0.042). Conclusion: Secondary rejection and persistent histologic infection in BKVN lead to poor prognosis.

Background:BK polyomavirus(BKPyV)-associated nephropathy(BKPyVAN)is an important cause of dysfunction and failure of renal *** study aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of morning urine specific gravity(MUSG)in diagnosing BKPyVAN in kidney transplant ***:A total of 87 patients,including 27 with BKPyVAN,22 with isolated BKPyV viruria,18 with T cell-mediated rejection(TCMR),and 20 with stable graft function,were enrolled in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University from March 2015 to February *** at biopsy and during a follow-up period of 24 months after biopsy was collected and *** operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was used to determine the ability of MUSG to discriminate ***:At biopsy,the MUSG of BKPyVAN group(1.008±0.003)was significantly lower than that of isolated BK viruria group(1.013±0.004,P<0.001),TCMR group(1.011±0.003,P=0.027),and control group(1.014±0.006,P<0.001).There was no significant difference in MUSG among the isolated BK viruria group,TCMR group,and control group(P=0.253).In BKPyVAN group,the timing and trend of MUSG elevate were consistent with the timing and trend of the decline of viral load in urine and plasma,reaching a statistical difference at 3 months after treatment(1.012±0.003,P<0.001)compared with values at *** analysis indicated that the optimal cut-off value of MUSG for diagnosis of BKPyVAN was 1.009,with an area under the ROC curve(AUC)of 0.803(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.721–0.937).For differentiating BKPyVAN and TCMR,the optimal MUSG cut-off value was 1.010,with an AUC of 0.811(95%CI:0.687–0.934).Conclusion:Combined detection of MUSG and BKPyV viruria is valuable for predicting BKPyVAN and distinguishing BKPyVAN from TCMR in renal transplant recipients.

Using the experimentally known aromatic icosahedral superatoms I_(h)B_(12)H_(12)2−and D_(5d)1,12-C_(2)B_(10)H_(12)as building blocks and based on extensive density functional theory calculations,we predict herein a series of core–shell superpolyhedral boranes and carboranes in a bottom-up approach,including the high-symmetry Th B_(12)@B_(152)H_(72)2−(2),C2h C_(2)B_(10)@B_(152)H_(72)(3),D_(3d)B_(12)@B_(144)H_(66)(4),I_(h)B_(12)@C_(24)B_(12)0H_(72)2−(6),and D_(5d)C_(2)B_(10)@C_(24)B_(12)0H_(72)(7).More interestingly,the superatom-assembled linear D2h B_(36)H_(32)^(2−)(8),close-packed planar D_(3d)B_(84)H_(60)^(2−)(10),and nearly close-packed core−shell D_(3d)B_(12)@B144H_(6)6(4)can be extended periodically to form the one-dimensional(1D)α-rhombohedral borane nanowire B_(12)H_(10)(Pmmm)(9),two-dimensional(2D)α-rhombohedral monolayer borophane B_(12)H_(6)(P m1)(11),and the experimentally known three-dimensional(3D)α-rhombohedral boron(R m)(12)which can be viewed as an assembly of the monolayer B_(12)H_(6)(11)staggered in vertical direction,setting up a bottom-up strategy to form low-dimensional boron-based nanomaterials from their borane“seeds”via partial or complete *** bonding analyses indicate that the high stability of these nanostructures originates from the spherical aromaticity of their icosahedral B_(12)or C_(2)B_(10)structural units which possess the universal skeleton electronic configuration of 1S21P61D101F8 following the Wade’s n+1 *** infrared(IR)and Raman spectra of the most-concerned neutral B_(12)@B144H_(6)6(4)and C_(2)B_(10)@C_(24)B_(12)0H_(72)(7)are computationally simulated to facilitate their experimental characterizations.

SATech-01 is an experimental satellite for space science exploration and on-orbit demonstration of advanced *** satellite is equipped with 16 experimental payloads and supports multiple working modes to meet the observation requirements of various *** to the limitation of platform power supply and data storage systems,proposing reasonable mission planning schemes to improve scientific revenue of the payloads becomes a critical *** this article,we formulate the integrated task scheduling of SATech-01 as a multi-objective optimization problem and propose a novel Fair Integrated Scheduling with Proximal Policy Optimization(FIS-PPO)algorithm to solve *** use multiple decision heads to generate decisions for each task and design the action mask to ensure the schedule meeting the platform *** results show that FIS-PPO could push the capability of the platform to the limit and improve the overall observation efficiency by 31.5%compared to rule-based plans currently ***,fairness is considered in the reward design and our method achieves much better performance in terms of equal task *** of its low computational complexity,our task scheduling algorithm has the potential to be directly deployed on board for real-time task scheduling in future space projects.

Graphene has been extensively utilized in the domain of electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption ma-terials because of its excellent electrical ***,the inferior impedance matching per-formance and the single loss mechanism vastly restrict the ***,it’s an effective strat-egy to solve these issues by introducing magnetic ***,layer double hydroxide(LDH)is an appropriate template to obtain magnetic component *** that ferromagnetic met-als such as Fe,Co,Ni,and their corresponding metal oxides are usually treated as magnetic compo-nents which are promising candidates for EMW absorption ***,in this work,a FeNi-layered double hydroxide-reduced graphene oxide(FeNi-LDH-rGO)aerogel was synthesized through a series of processes such as electrostatic self-assembly,hydrothermal,freeze-drying,and *** magnetic NiFe_(2)O_(4)@FeNi_(3)core-shell nanospheres were obtained from FeNi-LDH precursor,anchoring on rGO nanosheets after the annealing ***,the effects of different mass ratios of LDH to GO as well as different annealing temperatures of LDH-rGO aerogel on the EMW absorption prop-erty and impedance matching performance were *** a consequence,the fabricated ultralight 600LDH-rGO 2:1 aerogel shows a broad effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 7.04 GHz at a thickness of 2.3 mm with a low filling content of only 6 wt%and a low density of 4.4 mg/cm^(3).In conclusion,the synthetic LDH-rGO aerogels offer an effective strategy for preparing EMW absorption materials that own three-dimensional porous network structure and unique magnetic NiFe_(2)O_(4)@FeNi_(3)core-shell struc-ture nanospheres.

Little is known about the mechanism of climate-vegetation coverage coupled changes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)region,which is the most climatically sensitive and ecologically fragile region with the highest terrain in the *** study,using multisource datasets(including satellite data and meteorological observations and reanalysis data)revealed the mutual feedback mechanisms between changes in climate(temperature and precipitation)and vegetation coverage in recent decades in the Hengduan Mountains Area(HMA)of the southeastern TP and their influences on climate in the downstream region,the Sichuan Basin(SCB).There is mutual facilitation between rising air temperature and increasing vegetation coverage in the HMA,which is most significant during winter,and then during spring,but insignificant during summer and *** temperature significantly enhances local vegetation coverage,and vegetation greening in turn heats the atmosphere via enhancing net heat flux from the surface to the *** atmospheric heating anomaly over the HMA thickens the atmospheric column and increases upper air *** high pressure anomaly disperses downstream via the westerly flow,expands across the SCB,and eventually increases the SCB *** effect lasts from winter to the following spring,which may cause the maximum increasing trend of the SCB temperature and vegetation coverage in *** results are helpful for estimating future trends in climate and eco-environmental variations in the HMA and SCB under warming scenarios,as well as seasonal forecasting based on the connection between the HMA eco-environment and SCB climate.
