BACKGROUND Impaired hypoglycaemic counterregulation has emerged as a critical concern for diabetic patients who may be hesitant to medically lower their blood glucose levels due to the fear of potential hypoglycaemic ***,the pathogenesis of hypoglycaemic counterregulation is still ***-like peptide-1(GLP-1)and its analogues have been used as adjunctive therapies for type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM).The role of GLP-1 in counterregulatory dysfunction during hypoglycaemia in patients with T1DM has not been *** To explore the impact of intestinal GLP-1 on impaired hypoglycaemic counterregulation in type 1 diabetic *** T1DM was induced in C57BL/6J mice using streptozotocin,followed by intraperitoneal insulin injections to create T1DM models with either a single episode of hypoglycaemia or recurrent episodes of hypoglycaemia(DH5).Immunofluorescence,Western blot,and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were employed to evaluate the influence of intestinal GLP-1 on the sympathetic-adrenal reflex and glucagon(GCG)*** GLP-1 receptor agonist GLP-1(7-36)or the antagonist exendin(9-39)were infused into the terminal ileum or injected intraperitoneally to further investigate the role of intestinal GLP-1 in hypoglycaemic counterregulation in the model *** The expression levels of intestinal GLP-1 and its receptor(GLP-1R)were significantly increased in DH5 *** instances of excess of intestinal GLP-1 weakens the sympathetic-adrenal reflex,leading to dysfunction of adrenal counterregulation during ***5 mice showed increased pancreaticδ-cell mass,cAMP levels inδcells,and plasma somatostatin concentrations,while cAMP levels in pancreaticαcells and plasma GCG levels ***,GLP-1R expression in islet cells and plasma active GLP-1 levels were significantly increased in the DH5 *** experiments involving terminal ileal infusion and intraperitoneal injection in the model mice demonstra

A low-frequency and broadband wave-insulating vibration isolator based on plate-shaped metastructures

A metamaterial vibration isolator, termed as wave-insulating isolator, is proposed, which preserves enough load-bearing capability and offers ultra-low and broad bandgaps for greatly enhanced wave insulation. It consists of plate-shaped metacells,whose symmetric and antisymmetric local resonant modes offer several low and broad mode bandgaps although the complete bandgap remains high and narrow. The bandgap mechanisms, vibration isolation properties, effects of key parameters, and robustness to complex conditions are clarified. As experimentally demonstrated, the wave-insulating isolator can improve the vibration insulation in the ranges of [50 Hz, 180 Hz] and [260 Hz,400 Hz] by 15 dB and 25 dB, respectively, in contrast to the conventional isolator with the same first resonant frequency.

Association between serum estradiol level and appendicular lean mass index in middle-aged postmenopausal women

BACKGROUND Previous studies investigating the association between loss of estrogen at menopause and skeletal muscle mass came to contradictory *** To evaluate the association between serum estradiol level and appendicular lean mass index in middle-aged postmenopausal women using population-based *** This study included 673 postmenopausal women,aged 40-59 years,from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2013 and *** multivariable linear regression models were used to evaluate the association between serum E2 Level and appendicular lean mass index(ALMI).When non-linear associations were found by using weighted generalized additive model and smooth curve fitting,two-piecewise linear regression models were further applied to examine the threshold *** There was a positive association between serum E2 level and *** to individuals in quartile 1 group,those in other quartiles had higher ALMI *** inverted U-shaped curve relationship between serum E2 Level and ALMI was found on performing weighted generalized additive model and smooth curve fitting,and the inflection point was identified as a serum E2 level of 85 pg/*** Our results demonstrated an inverted U-shaped curve relationship between serum E2 levels and ALMI in middle-aged postmenopausal women,suggesting that low serum E2 levels play an important in the loss of muscle mass in middleaged postmenopausal women.

Kinetic model of vibration screening for granular materials based on biological neural network

The kinetic model is the theoretical basis for optimizing the structure and operation performance of vibration screening *** this paper,a biological neurodynamic equation and neural connections were established according to the motion and interaction properties of the material under vibration *** material feeding to the screen and the material passing through apertures were considered as excitatory and inhibitory inputs,respectively,and the generated stable neural activity landscape was used to describe the material distribution on the 2D screen *** dynamic process of material vibration screening was simulated using discrete element method(DEM).By comparing the similarity between the material distribution established using biological neural network(BNN)and that obtained using DEM simulation,the optimum coefficients of BNN model under a certain screening parameter were determined,that is,one relationship between the BNN model coefficients and the screening operation parameters was *** screening parameters were randomly selected,and the corresponding relationships were established as a ***,with straw/grain ratio,aperture diameter,inclination angle,vibration strength in normal and tangential directions as inputs,five independent adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS)were established to predict the optimum BNN model coefficients,*** training results indicated that ANFIS models had good stability and *** flexibility and adaptability of the proposed BNN method was demonstrated by modeling material distribution under complex feeding conditions such as multiple regions and non-uniform rate.

Cascaded four-wave mixing all-optical wavelength converter based on highly nonlinear fiber deposited graphene oxide

The all-optical wavelength conversion using cascaded four-wave mixing(FWM)phenomena with graphene oxide(GO)and a highly nonlinear fiber(HNLF)device is demonstrated *** has a strong third-order nonlinear effect and is an excellent nonlinear optical material for nonlinear optical wavelength *** group velocity matching of pump and signal,HNLF,and GO amplification promote the cascaded nonlinear frequency mixing *** the experimental and analytical results,the maximum spacing between signal and pump is 21 nm,and specifically,the order of cascaded FWM light increases from order 1 to order 2 with increasing GO,and the first-order FWM conversion effi-ciency increases to a maximum of−14.5 *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first time that cascaded FWM-based all-optical wavelength conversion in HNLF-GO with wide wavelength selectivity is investigated with combined pump and signal *** findings not only provide an effective method for achieving all-optical wavelength conversion in cascaded FWM but also offer the possibility of fabricating high-performance nonlinear optical devices.

Successful management of severe hypoglycemia induced by total parenteral nutrition in patients with hepatocellular injury: Three cases reports

BACKGROUND Glucose imbalance is common in total parenteral nutrition(TPN).Hypoglycemia seems to be less frequent than hyperglycemia,but it influences the clinical outcome to a greater ***,it should be effectively prevented and ***,there is no relevant report on how to treat hypoglycemia caused by TPN in patients with liver cell *** SUMMARY We present three patients with liver cell injury who developed severe hypo-glycemia during or after TPN *** causes of severe hypoglycemia and glucose-raising strategies were *** to the physiological charac-teristics of the hepatocellular injury,the ratio of nutrition components prescribed in TPN was appropriately adjusted for the three *** simultaneously reduced the dose of insulin and fat emulsion,and increased the dose of glucose in *** blood glucose level was restored to normal range and clinical symptoms were *** When hypoglycemia occurs during or after TPN in patients with hepatocellular injury,physicians need to simultaneously reduce insulin and fat emulsion,and increase glucose,and correct severe hypoglycemia in time to reduce its adverse consequences.
