Preliminary study of gonadotropin-releasing analogue (GnRH-A) initiated gonadal development of amphioxus

Amphioxus in the seasonally regressed phase of gonadat development were used in this study. Each sample animal was injected with 40 nanogram of synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue (GnRH-A) in distilled water every other day for up to 16 days; control animals received similar volumes of distilled wnter only. Both hormone-treated samples and control animals were examined under microscope every eight days and every twelve days. Then all the animals were killed on the 16th day. Gonads earlier development and a more advanced degree of gametogenesis are in the hormone-treated group than in the control group. Thus, GnRH-A can initiate and accelerate the gonadal development in gonadally regressed am-phioxus. GnRH-A in some form may be important in regulating the gonadal development in amphioxus as well as in vertebrates.

The study was made by observing the annual change of the gonadal development of amphioxus in xiamen cohtinuously for two years from November, 1986 to November, 1988. We determined the gonadal diameter, gonadosomatic index of each amphioxus, and observed the histological characteristic of the gonadal development of the female and male by cut section, which provided the basis for dividing the stages gonads and the determining level of the gonadal development of amphioxus in each month.

Development of a Kit Choosing Medicine Rapidly for Maricultural Bacteriosis

[ Objective] This study aimed to develop a kit to rapidly choose an appropriate medicine for maricultural bactedosis. [ Method] By screening enriched bacteria, solid medium and medicine and comparing effects of rapidly choosing medicine, a kit that could pick up the right medicine quickly for mariculture bacteriosis was created. [Result] The pilot test in some regions showed the kit had ideal yesalts and was easy to operate. [ Conclusion] The kit, a convenient and useful kit to detect drug sensitivity, can help users select effective drugs from many common medicines rapidly and accurately, and it is mainly suitable to use in the rapid selection of an appropriate medicine for maricultural bacteriosis.
