Cohort study on the treatment of BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer with integrated Chinese and western medicine

BACKGROUND Patients with BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)have a low incidence rate,poor biological activity,suboptimal response to conventional treatments,and a poor *** the previous cohort study on mCRC conducted by our team,it was observed that integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment could significantly prolong the overall survival(OS)of patients with colorectal ***,we further explored the survival benefits in the population with BRAF V600E mutant *** To evaluate the efficacy of integrated Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal *** A cohort study was conducted on patients with BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer admitted to Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from January 2016 to December *** patients were divided into two *** A total of 34 cases were included,with 23 in Chinese-Western medicine cohort(cohort A)and 11 in Western medicine cohort(cohort B).The median overall survival was 19.9 months in cohort A and 14.2 months in cohort B,with a statistically significant difference(P=0.038,hazard ratio=0.46).The 1-3-year survival rates were 95.65%(22/23),39.13%(9/23),and 26.09%(6/23)in cohort A,and 63.64%(7/11),18.18%(2/11),and 9.09%(1/11)in cohort B,*** analysis showed statistically significant differences in median OS between the two cohorts in the right colon,liver metastasis,chemotherapy,and first-line treatment subgroups(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Integrated Chinese and Western medicine can prolong the survival and reduce the risk of death in patients with BRAF V600E mutant metastatic colorectal cancer,with more pronounced benefits observed in patients with right colon involvement,liver metastasis,combined chemotherapy,and first-line treatment.

Generalized bounds on the partial periodic correlation of complex roots of unity sequence set

In this paper,the generalized bounds are derived on the partial periodic correlation of complex roots of unity sequence set with zero or low correlation zone(ZCZ/LCZ)as the important criteria of the sequence design and *** derived bounds are with respect to family size,subsequence length,maximum partial autocorrelation sidelobe,maximum partial cross-correlation value and the ZCZ/*** results show that the derived bounds include the previous periodic bounds,such as Sarwate bound,Welch bound,Peng-Fan bound and Paterson-Lothian bound,as special cases.

Orientation-Dependent Mechanical Responses and Plastic Deformation Mechanisms of FeMnCoCrNi High-entropy Alloy:A Molecular Dynamics Study

Mechanical properties of high-entropy alloys(HEAs)with the face-centered cubic(fcc)structure strongly depend on their initial grain ***,the orientation-dependent mechanical responses and the underlying plastic fl ow mechanisms of such alloys are not yet well ***,deformation of the equiatomic FeMnCoCrNi HEA with various initial orientations under uniaxial tensile testing has been studied by using atomistic simulations,showing the results consistent with the recent experiments on fcc *** quantitative analysis of the activated deformation modes shows that the initiation of stacking faults is the main plastic deformation mechanism for the crystals initially oriented with[001],[111],and[112],and the total dislocation densities in these crystals are higher than that with the[110]and[123]*** faults,twinning,and hcp-martensitic transformation jointly promote the plastic deformation of the[110]orientation,and twinning in this crystal is more significant than that with other *** in the crystal oriented with[123]is dominated by the hcp-martensite *** of the mechanical behaviors in the FeMnCoCrNi alloy and the conventional materials,*** and Fe50Ni50,has shown that dislocation slip tends to be activated more readily in the *** is attributed to the larger lattice distortion in the HEA than the low-entropy materials,leading to the lower critical stress for dislocation nucleation and elastic–plastic transition in the *** addition,the FeMnCoCrNi HEA with the larger lattice distortion leads to an enhanced capacity of storing ***,for the[001]-oriented HEA in which dislocation slip and stacking fault are the dominant deformation mechanisms,the limited deformation modes activated are insu fficient to improve the work hardening ability of the material.

Reverse Transformation in[110]-Oriented Face-Centered-Cubic Single Crystals Studied by Atomic Simulations

Bidirectional transformations,which are achieved by triggering both dynamic forward transformation from the face-centered-cubic(fcc)austenite to the hexagonal-close-packed(hcp)martensite and the reverse transformation from martensite to austenite during cold deformation,have been previously reported in FeMnCoCr-based high-entropy alloys(HEAs).This leads to the permanent refinement of microstructure and hence enhances the work-hardening capacity of *** order to reveal the microscopic mechanism of the reverse transformation in HEAs under deformation,the effect of the sample aspect ratio,i.e.,Z/X,on the evolution of deformation systems in the equi-atomic FeMnCoCrNi alloy with[110]orientation during uniaxial tensile loading along the Z direction is investigated by atomic simulations in this *** the aspect ratio is 0.5,the reverse transformation is more significant compared with other models,while a good plasticity can still be *** then compare the micromechanical behavior of three fcc single crystals,i.e.,FeMnCoCrNi,FeCuCoCrNi,and pure *** results show that the stacking fault energy plays a major role in the activation of different deformation mechanisms;however,the lattice distortion in the HEA does not significantly affect the activation of deformation ***,for all materials dislocation slip leads to the softening,while strain hardening is attributed to the initiation of multiple deformation *** Shockley partials slip leads to bidirectional phase transition,twinning and detwinning in the three ***,the reverse transformation can occur in all metallic materials where the fcc to hcp phase transformation is the dominant deformation *** findings contribute to an in-depth understanding of the deformation mechanism in fcc-structured materials under severe plastic deformation and provide theoretical guidance for the design of alloys with superior strength–plasticity combinations.

Effects of iron phthalocyanine on the inner pressure of MH/Ni battery

Effects of iron phthalocyanine (FePc) on the inner pressure of MH/Ni batteries dur-ing charging were examined. Experimental results show that the battery with appropriate quantity of FePc displays a much lower inner pressure under charging and overcharging than the battery without FePc, especially the battery with 1 mg FePc exhibits the slowest increasing speed of inner pressure and the best charging efficiency and overchargeability.

Effect of chromium content on microstructure and corrosion behavior of W-Cr-C coatings prepared on tungsten substrate

W-Cr-C coatings with different chromium contents （0-3wt.%） were fabricated on the tungsten substrates by spark plasma sintering （SPS） method from the graphite and chromium mixed powders. SEM and XRD were exploited to analyze the effect of Cr contents on the microstructure of coatings. It was found that the abnormal hollow WC grains disappeared with addition of Cr less than 2%, and the microstructures were largely refined and densified. With further increase of Cr addition, the grains changed slightly but the densificaUon was reduced. The most dense coating was achieved at I wt.% Cr. Corrosion behavior of the W-Cr-C coatings were investigated by impedance spectrum and potentiodynamic polarization tests. Results suggested that the W-1Cr-C coated W sample exhibited the lowest corrosion current density and highest corrosion potential due to the most densified microstructure, indicating that the addition of Cr at 1 wt.% was optimal for WC coating against corrosion.

Dynamic measurements of serum inhibin B and estradiol: a predictive evaluation of ovarian response to gonadotrophin stimulation in the early stage of IVF treatment

Objective： We dynamically measured serum inhibin B and estradiol in the early stage of hormonal stimulation to predict the ovarian response in in vitro fertilization （IVF） treatment. Methods： A total of 57 patients （〈40 years of age） who underwent the first cycle of long protocol IVF or introcytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） treatment were included. Serum inhibin B, estradiol, follicle stimulating hormone （FSH） and luteinizing hormone （LH） levels were measured four times：（1） on Day 3 of the menstrual cycle （basal）; （2） on the day before the first administration ofgonadotrophin （Gn）（Day 0）; （3） on Day 1 of Gn therapy; and （4） on Day 5 of Gn therapy. Comparisons of these measurements with ovarian responses and pregnancy outcomes were made and analyzed statistically. Results：（1） On Day 1 and Day 5 of recombinant FSH （rFSH） stimulation, ovarian response, i.e., numbers of follicles, oocytes, fertilized oocytes, and embryos, had a positive correlation （rs=0.46-0.61, P 0.000） with raised inhibin B and estradiol concentrations, but a negative correlation （rs=-0.67--0.38, P=0.000 or P〈0.01） with total rFSH dose and total days ofrFSH stimulation. （2） No significant variation （P〉0.05） between the pregnant and non-pregnant groups on the basis of mean age or on all hormone concentrations at four times of the IVF cycle was observed. However, all the seven patients aged 〉35 years did not reach pregnancy. Conclusions：（1） Serum inhibin B and estradiol concentrations obtained shortly after Gn therapy may offer an accurate and early prediction of ovarian response; （2） Low levels of serum inhibin B and estradiol obtained shortly after Gn stimulation indicate the need for a longer period of Gn treatment and a higher daily dosage; （3） No obvious pregnancy difference among patients of age 〈35 years was found; however, IVF pregnancy outcome is significantly lower in women of age 〉35 years.

Five-CpG-based prognostic signature for predicting survival in hepatocellular carcinoma patients

Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a common malignancy associated with high morbidity and mortality rates *** diagnosis plays an important role in the improvement of HCC ***:In this study,we conducted a comprehensive analysis of HCC DNA methylation and gene expression datasets in The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA),to identify a prognostic signature for HCC diagnosis and survival ***,we identified differential methylation CpG(dmCpG)sites in HCC samples and compared them with those in adjacent normal liver tissues;this was followed by univariate analysis and Sure Independence Screening(SIS)in the training *** robustness of the identified prognostic signature was evaluated using the testing *** explore the biological processes involved in HCC progression,we also performed functional enrichment analysis for overlapping genes between genes containing dmCpG sites(DMGs)and differential expression genes(DEGs)in HCC patients,using data from the Database for Annotation,Visualization,and Integrated Discovery(DAVID).Results:As a result,we identified five CpG sites that were significantly associated with HCC survival through univariate analysis and *** analysis of clinical characteristics identified age and risk factors(including alcohol consumption and smoking)as independent factors that indicated HCC *** analysis indicated that the integrated prognostic signature(weighted combination of the five CpG sites)that took age and risk factors into consideration resulted in more accurate survival ***:This study provides a novel signature for predicting HCC survival,and should be helpful for early HCC diagnosis and personalized treatment.

Theoretical Study on the Reaction Mechanism between Dichlorocarbene and Armchair Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes

The reaction mechanism between CC12 and armchair single-walled carbon nanotubes （ASWCNTs）（3,3） and （4,4） has been studied by semiempirical AM1 and ab initio methods. The activation barriers of CC12 adding to ASWCNT （3,3） and （4,4） are computed and compared. The lower barrier of CC12 forms cycloaddition isomer on （3,3） maybe because the strain energy of （3,3） is larger than that of （4,4）. Our theoretical results are consistent with the experimental results.
