Early changes in corneal densitometry after FS-LASIK combined with accelerated corneal cross-linking for correction of high myopia

AIM:To observe the effects of femtosecond laserassisted excimer laser in situ keratomileusis combined with accelerated corneal cross-linking(FS-LASIK Xtra)on corneal densitometry after correcting for high myopia.METHODS:In this prospectively study,130 patients underwent FS-LASIK or FS-LASIK Xtra for high myopia.Their right eyes were selected for inclusion in the study,of which 65 cases of 65 eyes in the FS-LASIK group,65 patients with 65 eyes in the FS-LASIK Xtra group.Patients were evaluated for corneal densitometry at 1,3,and 6mo postoperatively using Pentacam Scheimpflug imaging.RESULTS:Preoperative differences in corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK and FS-LASIK Xtra groups in different ranges were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Layer-by-layer analysis revealed statistically significant differences in the anterior(120μm),central,and total layer corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK and FS-LASIK Xtra groups at 1 and 3mo postoperatively(all P0.05).CONCLUSION:There is an increase in internal corneal densitometry during the early postoperative period after FS-LASIK Xtra for correction of high myopia.However,the densitometry values decreased to the level of conventional FS-LASIK at 6mo after surgery,with the most significant changes observed in the superficial central zone.

Boosting spring runoff into the sea by reservoir regulation and its potential for estuarine fishery recovery

With global surge in reservoir construction over the past decades,river systems worldwide have been profoundly fragmented.Consequently,flow manipulation by reservoirs has altered the natural hydrological processes,resulting in extensive modifications of fluvial-marine ecosystems.Mitigating the adverse ecological consequences of reservoirs has become a global concern and has garnered increasing attention.The Yellow River,as one of the most extensively manipulated river systems globally,has experienced substantial changes in the amount and timing of water discharge due to the presence of numerous reservoirs scattered throughout its catchment area.These alterations have caused physicochemical changes in the estuary and subsequent modifications to the estuarine ecosystem.In recent years,the Yellow River Conservancy Committee initiated the release of water through the Xiaolangdi Dam during the major spawning period of fisheries,specifically in the spring,with the aim of improving the estuarine ecological environment.From 2011 to 2020,a total of 84.05 km^(3)of water was discharged from the Xiaolangdi Reservoir during spring seasons,of which 40%(33.16 km^(3))constituted water impounded within the reservoir during preceding months.Correspondingly,the spring water discharge from the Yellow River to the sea increased significantly from 1.50 km^(3)/yr to 3.46 km^(3)/yr in the past decade,leading to a decrease in estuarine salinity by 1.6 PSU.The estuarine fishery resources,such as fish eggs in the Yellow River estuary,have demonstrated evident improvement.The reservoir regulation in the Yellow River,which has successfully enhanced spring water discharge and subsequently restored estuarine fishery resources,presents an effective attempt for mitigating the adverse ecological effects associated with reservoirs.

Human monoamine oxidase B(hMAO-B)has emerged as a pivotal therapeutic target for Parkinson's disease.Due to adverse effects and shortage of commercial drugs,there is a need for novel,highly selective,and reversible hMAO-B inhibitors with good blood-brain barrier permeability.In this study,a high-throughput at-line nanofractionation screening platform was established with extracts from Chuanxiong Rhizoma,which resulted in the discovery of 75 active compounds,including phenolic acids,volatile oils,and phthalides,two of which were highly selective novel natural phthalide hMAO-B inhibitors that were potent,selective,reversible and had good blood‒brain permeability.Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations elucidated the inhibition mechanism.Sedanolide(IC_(50)=103 nmol/L;SI=645)and neocnidilide(IC_(50)=131 nmol/L;SI=207)demonstrated their excellent potential as hMAO-B inhibitors.They offset the limitations of deactivating enzymes associated with irreversible hMAO-B inhibitors such as rasagiline.In SH-SY5Y cell assays,sedanolide(EC_(50)=0.962μmol/L)and neocnidilide(EC_(50)=1.161μmol/L)exhibited significant neuroprotective effects,comparable to the positive drugs rasagiline(EC_(50)=0.896μmol/L)and safinamide(EC_(50)=1.079μmol/L).These findings underscore the potential of sedanolide as a novel natural hMAO-B inhibitor that warrants further development as a promising drug candidate.

Magnesium doping to improve the light to heat conversion of OMS-2 for formaldehyde oxidation under visible light irradiation

Mg-doped manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieve(Mg-OMS-2)catalysts were prepared by hydrothermal method.The photothermal degradation performance of these catalysts for formaldehyde(HCHO)in batch system and continuous system was investigated.The light absorption of OMS-2 was increased by Mg-doped,especially for near infrared light,which promoted surface temperature reach a maximum of 214.8℃ under xenon irradiation.At this temperature,the reinforced surface lattice oxygen and oxygen vacancy that formed by lattice distortion via Mg-doped were activated.The best HCHO elimination efficiency was achieved over Mg_(0.2)/OMS-2 catalyst with Mg^(2+)/Mn^(2+)=1/5,which could reduce HCHO from 250 ppm to 10 ppm within 20 min.The in situ DRIFTS was also carried out to monitor the changes in the content of reaction intermediates and analyze the degradation paths of HCHO.It was found the HCHO was attacked by formed·OH and·O^(2-) to generate formate species and carbonate species,and finally transformed to CO_(2) and H_(2)O.This photothermal catalytic oxidation process exhibited a high efficiency purification of HCHO without the help of extra energy consumption.

Effect of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma and Eupolyphaga Steleophaga on liver protection mechanism based on pharmacokinetics and metabonomics

Objective:Based on metabonomics technology of high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS)and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(^(1)H NMR),the pharmacokinetic characteristics and therapeutic mechanism of Rhei Radix et Rhizoma(RhRR,Dahuang in Chinese),Eupolyphaga Steleophaga(EuS,Tubiechong in Chinese)combined with RhRR acting on acute liver injury were explored.Methods:Models of acute liver injury were established,and the pharmacokinetic methods of five components of RhRR-EuS in rats were found by HPLC-MS/MS.The liver tissues of different groups of mice were analyzed by ^(1)H NMR spectroscopy combined with multivariate statistical analysis to investigate the metabolomics of RhRR-EuS and RhRR.Results:Pharmacokinetic results showed there were different levels of bimodal phenomenon in different groups,and the absorption of free anthraquinone in RhRR increased after compatibility with EuS.In addition,the pathological state of acute liver injury in rats can selectively promote the absorption of emodin,chrysophanol,physcion and aloe emodin.Through 15 differential metabolites in the liver tissue of acute liver injury mice,it was revealed that RhRR-EuS and RhRR could protect the liver injury by regulating the metabolism of glutamine and glutamic acid,alanine,aspartic acid and glutamic acid,and phosphoinositide.However,the regulation of RhRR was weaker than that of RhRR-EuS.Conclusion:For the first time,we studied the pharmacokinetics and metabolomics differences of RhRREuS and RhRR in rats and mice with acute liver injury,in order to provide theoretical reference for clinical treatment of liver disease by DHZCP.

Acupuncture for cervical dystonia associated with anxiety and depression: A case report

BACKGROUND Cervical dystonia(CD)is a type of muscle tone disorder that usually occurs in the neck muscles.Due to the intermittent or continuous involuntary contraction of the neck muscles,the head and neck are twisted and skewed and some postural abnormalities occur.Long-term abnormal posture or pain can cause negative emotions in patients,which can affect their quality of life.CASE SUMMARY This case report included a 37-year-old woman who was diagnosed with CD associated with anxiety and depression;the accompanying symptoms were head and neck tilt of approximately 90°to the right and mental abnormality.After two courses of acupuncture treatment,the patient’s head and neck can be maintained in a normal position,and the negative emotions can be relieved.CONCLUSION This case indicates that acupuncture can effectively improve CD and the emotional state and quality of life of patients,making it an effective alternative treatment for the condition.

Long-term trend analysis of wave characteristics in the Bohai Sea based on interpolated ERA5 wave reanalysis from 1950 to 2020

Reasonably understanding of the long-term wave characteristics is very crucial for the ocean engineering.A feedforward neural network is operated for interpolating ERA5 wave reanalysis in this study,which embodies a detailed record from 1950 onwards.The spatiotemporal variability of wave parameters in the Bohai Sea,especially the significant wave height(SWH),is presented in terms of combined wave,wind wave and swell by employing the 71 years(1950–2020)of interpolated ERA5 reanalysis.Annual mean SWH decreases at−0.12 cm/a estimated by Theil-Sen estimator and 95th percentile SWH reflecting serve sea states decreases at−0.20 cm/a.Inter-seasonal analysis shows SWH of wind wave has steeper decreasing trend with higher slopes than that of swell,especially in summer and winter,showing the major decrease may attribute to the weakening of monsoon.The inner Bohai Sea reveals a general decreasing trend while the intersection connecting with the Yellow Sea has the lower significance derived by Mann-Kendall test.Meanwhile,95th percentile SWH decreases at a higher rate while with a lower significance in comparison with the mean state.The frequencies of mean wave directions in sub-sector are statistically calculated to find the seasonal prevailing directions.Generally,the dominant directions in summer and winter are south and north.A similar variation concerning to SWH,the trend of the mean wave period is provided,which also shows a decrease for decades.

bi_(2)WO_(6)/AgInS_(2)S-scheme heterojunction:Efficient photodegradation of organic pollutant and toxicity evaluation

Constructing of heterojunction was identified as a feasible way to improve photocatalytic activity of pho-tocatalyst.In this work,a n-p type bi_(2)WO_(6)/AgInS_(2)S-scheme heterojunction was successfully prepared for organic pollutants degradation.This bi_(2)WO_(6)/AgInS_(2)S-scheme heterojunction exhibited much higher pho-tocatalytic activity towards Rhodamine B(92.24%,expose to visible light for 60 min),norfloxacin(81.73%,expose to visible light for 90 min)and levofloxacin(87.46%,expose to visible light for 90 min)than pure bi_(2)WO_(6)and pure AgInS_(2).Toxicity analysis indicated the low environmental toxicity of Rhodamine B degradation intermediates for Rye seeds and Sudangrass seeds germination and growth.Mechanism study displayed that AgInS_(2)and bi_(2)WO_(6)work as the primary photocatalyst to form·O_(2)−and ·OH,respectively.The improved photocatalytic activity of the bi_(2)WO_(6)/AgInS_(2)S-scheme heterojunction was due to the im-proved light response range and intensified carrier separation capability.Additionally,a S-scheme charge transfer mechanism including multiple charge transfer channels was proposed.This work could provide an effective strategy for organic pollutants degradation in wastewater.

Impacts of gravitational-wave background from supermassive black hole binaries on the detection of compact binaries by LISA

In the frequency band of the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna(LISA),extensive research has been conducted on the impact of foreground confusion noise generated by galactic binaries within the Milky Way Galaxy.Additionally,recent evidence of a stochastic signal,announced by the NANOGrav,EPTA,PPTA,CPTA,and InPTA,indicates that the stochastic gravitational-wave background(SGWB)generated by supermassive black hole binaries(SMBHBs)can contribute strong background noise within the LISA band.Given the presence of such strong noise,it is expected to have significant impacts on LISA's scientific missions.In this study,we investigate the impacts of the SGWB generated by SMBHBs on the detection of individual massive black hole binaries,verified galactic binaries,and extreme mass ratio inspirals in the context of LISA.We find it essential to resolve and eliminate the excess noise from the SGWB to guarantee the success of LISA's missions.

耦合电感功率变换器因耦合电感阻抗、电感值等参数差异易导致功率不均衡。针对耦合电感飞跨电容双向DC/DC变换器,提出一种基于模型预测控制(MPC)的功率均衡解耦控制策略。通过对变换器原理进行分析,建立基于电感电流解耦的数学模型,得到包括电感电流和飞跨电容电压等6个控制变量的解耦控制方法。在此基础上,提出基于MPC的功率均衡解耦控制策略。同时,为降低MPC算法的运算负荷,根据解耦控制模型重构模型预测价值函数,实现各控制变量独立动态寻优,使系统能在稳定控制输出电压及飞跨电容电压的同时,实现两相耦合电感的功率均衡控制。最后,通过理论分析及实验对所提策略进行有效验证。
