Soil erosion is a crucial geo-environmental hazard worldwide that affects water quality and agriculture,decreases reservoir storage capacity due to sedimentation,and increases the danger of flooding and ***,this study uses geospatial modeling to produce soil erosion susceptibility maps(SESM)for the Hangu region,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KPK),*** Hangu region,located in the Kohat Plateau of KPK,Pakistan,is particularly susceptible to soil erosion due to its unique geomorphological and climatic ***,the Hangu region is characterized by a combination of steep slopes,variable rainfall patterns,diverse land use,and distinct soil types,all of which contribute to the complexity and severity of soil erosion *** factors necessitate a detailed and region-specific study to develop effective soil conservation *** this research,we detected and mapped 1013 soil erosion points and prepared 12 predisposing factors(elevation,aspect,slope,Normalized Differentiate Vegetation Index(NDVI),drainage network,curvature,Land Use Land Cover(LULC),rainfall,lithology,contour,soil texture,and road network)of soil erosion using GIS ***,GIS-based statistical models like the weight of evidence(WOE)and frequency ratio(FR)were applied to produce the SESM for the study *** SESM was reclassified into four classes,i.e.,low,medium,high,and very high *** results of WOE for SESM show that 16.39%,33.02%,29.27%,and 21.30%of areas are covered by low,medium,high,and very high zones,*** contrast,the FR results revealed that 16.50%,24.33%,35.55%,and 23.59%of the areas are occupied by low,medium,high,and very high ***,the reliability of applied models was evaluated using the Area Under Curve(AUC)*** validation results utilizing the area under curve showed that the success rate curve(SRC)and predicted rate curve(PRC)for WOE are 82%and 86%,respectively,while SRC and PRC for FR are 85%and 96%,res

Structural, Dielectric, and Magnetic Properties of Ba-Doped Multiferroic Bismuth Ferrite

The main focus of the research was to correlate the microstructure with dielectric and magnetic properties of Bi1-xBaxFeO3 samples. Bi1-xBaxFeO3 samples（x = 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3） were synthesized by the conventional solid-state reaction method using nano-powders of Bi2O3, Fe2O3, and BaCO3. Thereafter, field emission scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction（XRD） techniques were used to examine the structure and phase of the samples. Phase analysis by XRD indicated that the single-phase perovskite structure was formed with possible increment in lattice parameter with increasing Ba doping. Complex permeability（u＇iand u＇＇i） measured using impedance analyzer confirmed the increase in magnetic property with increasing Ba doping. Finally, dielectric constant（k） was analyzed as a function of temperature at different frequencies. Dielectric constant as high as 2900 was attained in this research for Bi0.8Ba0.2FeO3 sample due to reduction in leakage current at this composition.

Effect of Aging on Film Strength and Morphology of Natural Additive Polypropylene Packaging Film

At present, plastics packaging had used synthetic degradable additives for conventional non degradable polyolefins. Faster degradation of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) through oxidation process by employing commercialised metal complex had been established. Use of natural additives is more environmentally friendly and nontoxic if leached and is safe for use as films in food packaging. Additives such as natural oil and pigment can be compounded as natural additives for polypropylene (PP). In this study, oil with various composition of dione were incorporated into PP and compounded before film casting. Tensile properties of natural additives filled PP film was studied upon different aging condition and characterizations made. For all samples, upon high humidity, heat and photoaging, tensile strength, were found to be reduced and higher modulus were found which indicated that film were brittle and fragmented upon degradation. Film exposure resulted in very low strength and fragmented brittle film which are found to be degraded faster when both amount of oil/dione and higher composition of dione were employed. Morpholoy of the degraded films were being analysed with FESEM microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). From morphological and tensile testing performed, it was found that degradation has occurred when sample had been exposed for two weeks in the humidity chamber with the addition of oil and dione for PP compound. From surface morphology AFM analysis, it was also shown that surface erosion had occurred and a high surface roughness value was exhibited. Degradation had proceeded at faster rate upon use combination of oil and dione whereby lowest strength were imparted after been exposed for 2 weeks.

Mechanical and corrosion properties of partially degradable bone screws made of pure iron and stainless steel 316L by friction welding

This paper reports a series of in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo mechanical and corrosion studies of pin and screw prototype made of friction welded pure iron and 316 L type stainless steel aiming to evaluate the applicability of the partially removable bone screws. Results showed that the pin possesses bending, tensile and torsional strengths of1706±147, 666±7 and 0.34±0.03 MPa, respectively. The pin degraded at an average weight loss rate of 17.15×10-5 g cm-2 day-1 and released Fe ions at an average concentration of 2.38 ppm. Plastic deformation induced by torsion increased the corrosion rate of the pin from 0.0014 to 0.0137 mm *** maximum pull-out load of the screw prototypes was3800 N with a calculated failure strength by shear load equal to22.2 k N which is higher than the strength of the cortical *** analysis of the rat's blood cells during 60 days of the pin implantation indicated a normal response with low neutrophils/lymphocytes ratio of 0.3-0.5. Iron ion concentration in the rat's blood slightly increased from 55 to 61 ppm without affecting the tissue recovering and healing phase. Histological evaluation confirmed the presence of macrophage cells as a normal response to the released iron particles around the iron section of the pin.

Capacitive sensor probe to assess frying oil degradation

The repeated usage of frying oil has been proven hazardous due to the degradation process by chemical reactions that lead to changes in the quality of the ***,the degree of frying oil degradation is indicated by the percentage of its total polar compounds(TPC).In this study,a capacitive sensor was designed to assess frying oil degradation at several heating time intervals by measuring changes on its electrical *** sensor was designed using interdigitated electrode structure.A total of 30 samples of 130 ml palm oil were heated at 180℃ up to 30 *** each one hour interval,one sample was moved out from the laboratory *** electrical capacitance,total polar compound(TPC)and viscosity of the samples were measured for *** results demonstrated significant correlation between oil electrical capacitance with TPC and viscosity with R^2 ranged from 0.83 to *** designed sensor has good potential for simple and inexpensive way of determining frying oil quality.

Critical physicochemical attributes of chitosan nanoparticles admixed lactose-PEG 3000 microparticles in pulmonary inhalation

Chitosan nanoparticles are exhalation prone and agglomerative to pulmonary *** nanoparticles with lactose microparticles(~5 μm) could mutually reduce their agglomeration through surface adsorption phenomenon. The chitosan nanoparticles of varying size, size distribution, zeta potential, crystallinity, shape and surface roughness were prepared by spray drying technique as a function of chitosan, surfactant and processing conditions. Lactose-polyethylene glycol 3000(PEG3000) microparticles were similarly prepared. The chitosan nanoparticles, physically blended with fine lactose-PEG3000 microparticles, exhibited a comparable inhalation performance with the commercial dry powder inhaler products(fine particle fraction between 20% and 30%). Cascade impactor analysis indicated that the aerosolization and inhalation performance of chitosan nanoparticles was promoted by their higher zeta potential and circularity, and larger size attributes of which led to reduced inter-nanoparticulate aggregation and favored nanoparticles interacting with lactose-PEG3000 micropaticles that aided their delivery into deep and peripheral lungs.

Malaysia and the Factors that Influence Its Seed Industry: Natural Resources, Policies, Market and Fundings

Malaysia, situated in Southeast Asia, is a relatively small country of 33 million hectares of land, and with a total cultivable area estimated in 14.2 million ha. However, in 2013, only 53% of it was cultivated. Remarkably enough, in 2012, 67% of the whole land used under agriculture was destined for oil palm plantations. Likewise, Malaysia has been recognized as one of the twelve mega-diversity countries of the world, thanks to its rich variety of species and diverse number of ecosystems. Furthermore, as Malaysia lies in the equatorial zone, the average temperature throughout the entire year is 26 °C; which is controlled by the northeast and southwest monsoons, and consequently, receiving around 2,000 mm to 2,500 mm of rainfall annually. In addition, Malaysia has an annual average of 990 billion m3 of water resources inside the entire territory. Moreover, as Malaysia realized the importance of shifting into a knowledge-based economy, it's now really focused on the development of human and intellectual capital in order to produce adequate supply. In that way, under the Malaysia Education Blueprint from 2013 to 2015, a sum of RM 41.3 billion is expected to be allocated in 2016, to improve the quality of education. Conjointly, the agriculture in Malaysia is a fundamental piece in the country's economy, contributing to the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as in 2013 this sector employed more than 1.6 million people. On the other hand, in Malaysia two distinct Agricultural Policies have been established to give strategic direction to the agricultural sector: The Policy before Independence (1948-1957) and The Policy after the independence (1957-2020) (which is as well, formed by several policies). In conjunction, as Malaysia aspires to become a developed country, it nourishes its research culture; being the public sector an important contributor for the agricultural research funding.
