The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in the middle East is increasing in parallel to an increase in the prevalence of associated risk factors such as obesity,metabolic syndrome,and type 2 diabetes *** 20%to 30%of the patients progress to develop nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),a histological subtype of NAFLD,with features of hepatocyte injury such as hepatocyte *** can progress to fibrosis,cirrhosis,and even hepatocellular *** thus causes a substantial burden on healthcare systems and it is imperative that appropriate strategies are discussed at a regional level to facilitate effective management tailored to the needs of the *** fulfil this unmet need,expert gastroenterologists,hepatologists,and endocrinologists from the region came together in three advisory board meetings that were conducted in Saudi Arabia,United Arab Emirates,and Kuwait,to discuss current local challenges in NAFLD screening and diagnosis,and the different available management *** experts discussed the disease burden of NAFLD/NASH in the middle East;screening,diagnosis,and referral patterns in NAFLD;and available treatment options for NAFLD and *** paper summarizes the discussions and opinion of the expert panel on the management of NAFLD/NASH and also presents an extensive literature review on the topic.

Six minute Walk Test to assess functional capacity in chronic liver disease patients

AIm: To examine the utility of Six minute Walk Test (6mWT) in patients with chronic liver disease (CLD). mETHODS: Two hundred and fifty subjects between the ages of 18 and 80 (mean 47) years performed 6mWT and the Six minute Walk Distance (6mWD) was measured. RESULTS: The subjects were categorized into four groups. Group A (n = 45) healthy subjects (control); group B (n = 49) chronic hepatitis B patients; group C (n = 54) chronic hepatitis C patients; group D (n = 98) liver cirrhosis patients. The four groups differed in terms of 6mWDs (P m by group A, then group B (390 ± 53 m), group C (357 ± 72 m) and group D (306 ± 111 m). The 6mWD correlated with age (r = -0.482, P moglobin (r = +0.373, P min (r = +0.311, P mWD in cirrhosis (group D) patients (r = -0.328, P mo follow-up period, 15 of the 98 cirrhosis patients had died from disease complications. The 6mWD for the surviving cirrhotic patients was longer than for non-survivors (317 ± 101 vs 245 ± 145 m, P = 0.021; 95% CI 11-132). The 6mWD was found to be an independent predictor of survival (P = 0.024). CONCLUSION: 6mWT is a useful tool for assessing physical function in CLD patients. We suggest that 6mWD may serve as a prognostic indicator in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Türkiye is located in a seismically active region,where the Anatolian,African,and Arabian tectonic plates *** seismic hazards cause the region to be struck repeatedly by major *** February 06,2023,a devastating m_(W)7.7 earthquake struck Türkiye at 01:17 am local time(01:17 UTC).In this regard,near and far-field ground motion data within the distance of 120 km are compiled and later characterized to identify the key ground motion intensity ***,the vertical components of ground motions were examined to capture the complete three-dimensional nature of the seismic ***,the effect of Pulse-Like(PL)and Non-Pulse-Like(NPL)ground motion on a representative RC frame structure built as per the Türkiye code was *** results indicate that PL behavior was observed in both horizontal and vertical components of ground motions and PL behavior were noted both near the epicenter and at higher distances from the ***,the ratio of the peak vertical acceleration to peak horizontal acceleration at certain stations was found to be close to ***,the non-linear time history analysis of the representative reinforced concrete frame structure for ground motions recorded at stations located equidistant from the epicenter,indicated that PL ground motions led to more significant damage compared to NPL ground motions.

From longan peel waste to energy storage: Porous activated carbon as a cathode matrix for advanced Li/Na-selenium batteries

This paper explores the potential of Longan peel waste（LPw） as a sustainable and cost-effective matrix for selenium-based cathodes in Li-Se and Na-Se *** activation,we created LP2—a designation for the carbon precursor derived from LPw,activated at a 1:2 ratio of carbonized LPw to *** nomenclature,where'LP' stands for 'Longan peel' and '2' reflects the optimization of this ratio,led to a hierarchical porous structure with an average pore size of 3.0307 nm and a significant BET surface area of 111.9386 m2g-1Selenium was incorporated into the LP2matrix using a simple melt diffusion technique,yielding the composite Se@*** Li-Se batteries,Se@LP2exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 1033.75 mAh g-1at *** a 1C rate,the composite demonstrated a capacity retention of 301.14 mAh g-1after 550 cycles and 380.91 mAh g-1after 100 ***,for Na-Se batteries,the composite showcased a capacity retention of 347.18 mAh g-1after 100 cycles *** findings underscore LP2's potential as a viable and efficient matrix for selenium-based cathodes,revealing promising prospects for the advancement of highly efficient Li-Se and Na-Se batteries.

Hepatitis B genotypes: Relation to clinical outcome in patients with chronic hepatitis B in Saudi Arabia

AIm: To identify the most common hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotype in Saudi Arabia, and correlate the prevailing genotypes with the clinical outcome of patients. mETHODS: Patients were consecutively recruited from the hepatology clinics of two tertiary care referral cen- ters. Patients were categorized into 4 different groups: group 1, patients with hepatitis B and normal liver en- zymes; group 2, patients with hepatitis B and abnormal liver enzymes but without cirrhosis; group 3, patients with hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis; group 4, patients with hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma. All patients had a positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Ge- notyping of HBV was performed by nested PCR-mediated amplification of the target sequence and hybridization with sequence-specific oligonucleotides. RESULTS: Seventy patients were enrolled in this study. They were predominantly male (72.9%) in their mid- forty’s (mean age 47 years). Forty-nine (70%) patients were hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg) negative. The majority of patients (64%) acquired HBV through unknown risk factors. Hepatitis B genotyping revealed that 57 patients (81.4%) were genotype D, 1 patient (1.4%) had genotype A, 1 patient (1.4%) had geno- type C, and 4 patients (5.7%) had genotype E, while 7 patients (10%) had mixed genotype (4 patients ADG, 1 patient DE, 1 patient DF, and 1 patient ADFG). Based on univariate analysis of genotype D patients, significant predictors of advanced liver disease were age, gender, aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, albumin,bilirubin, and alkaline phosphatase (all P multivariate analysis decreased hemoglobin (r = -0.05; 95% CI: -0.08 to -0.03; P = 0.001) and albumin levels (r = -0.004; 95% CI: -0.007 to -0.001; P = 0.002) were highly significant predictors of advanced liver disease. In patients with HBV genotype D, HBeAg negativity was found to increase across advancing stages of liver dis- ease (P = 0.024). CONCLUSION: This study highligh

The Impact of Simulation Education on Self-Efficacy in Pre-Registration Nursing Students

This literature review primarily aims to explore and synthesise the previous studies in simulation education research conducted over the past five years related to the effects of simulation training on the self-efficacy of undergraduate pre-registration nursing students. The second aim of this study is to explore additional outcome variables that were examined in the previous studies. Five electronic databases were searched systematically. These databases were mEDLINE, CINAHL Plus, Scopus, Embase and PsycINFO. The PICO model was employed to identify the search terms, with a thesaurus being used to provide synonyms. Reference lists of relevant articles were examined and hand searches of journals were also undertaken. The quality of each study was assessed using the Simulation Research Rubric (SRR). A total of 11 studies were included. All studies explored the impact of simulation education on undergraduate pre-registration nursing. Six studies explored nursing students’ competence and performance and two papers examined their critical thinking. Problem solving, learning motivation, communication skills and knowledge acquisition were examined once. The majority of studies indicated that simulation training has a positive impact on pre-registration nursing students’ self-efficacy and other outcome variables. Furthermore, the study results indicate that simulation training is more dependable than traditional training, and students were extremely satisfied with the simulation training. However, most of the studies included in this review had several gaps, including study design, sample size and dissimilarities between the scales used. Further research with large samples, reliable and valid instruments, and outcomes measures (such as critical thinking and transferability of skills) is required to provide better insight into the effectiveness of simulation in undergraduate nursing education. .

Analysis of ancient Rongcharong landslide dam failure events in the Suwalong reach of the upper reaches of the Jinsha River

Active tectonic movements and geological disasters frequently occur in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River， increasing the likelihood of landslides obstructing the river. Taking the ancient Rongcharong landslide dam failure events in the Suwalong reach as an example， this paper first analyzes the accuracy and applicability of the commonly used methods in calculating the peak flow of the dam failure， such as the empirical formula， the numerical method based on the physical mechanism， and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. Then， the peak flood flow of the Rongcharong-dammed lake when it overflows the dam is determined to be 28393～64272m3/s. At the same time， the failure process of landslide dam due to flood erosion was elucidated using the CFD method， which can be divided into three stages: gradual erosion in the initial stage， rapid development in the middle stage， and gradual expansion in the final stage. Finally， the factors that affect the peak flow of floods are analyzed， and suggestions for emergency treatment of landslide dams are put forward. The findings of this research can serve as a valuable reference for disaster prevention and mitigation strategies to adapt to the increasing frequency of landslide-induced river blockages.
