In this work, 3% to 8% (in weight) of na.osize MgO pa.ticles wa. a.ded to Bi2Sr2Ca.u2O8 (Bi- 2212) high-tempera.ure superconductor to fa.-rica.e Bi-2212 superconducting ma.eria. with superior mecha.ica. properties. The mecha.ica. strength of the sa.ples wa. studied by con-ducting the compression test a. room tempera.ture, a.d the a.dition of 5% na.osize MgO pa.-ticles produced the highest strength when com- pa.ed with other sa.ples. The sa.ple with 5% MgO a.dition a.so exhibited superior super-conducting properties. The Bi-2212 powder with 5% na.osize MgO a.dition wa. used to fa.rica.e Bi-2212 ta.es through the dip-coa.ing-then- sta.king method. The fully processed ta.es were investiga.ed via.dc electrica. resista.ce mea.urements, XRD pa.terns, SEM microgra.hs, tra.sport critica. current density a.d tensile tests. The tensile tests were conducted a. room a.d cryogenic (77 K) tempera.ures. Results of tensile tests a.d Young’s modulus for the ta.es showed tha. the Bi-2212 ta.es with na.osize MgO a.dition recorded better mecha.ica. prop-erty compa.ed to the non-a.ded sa.ples both a. room a.d cryogenic tempera.ures. The double- core ta.e with 5% MgO a.dition recorded the highest fa.lure point a. 160 MPa. In a.dition to the strengthening effect tha. wa. observed in the na.osize MgO a.ded Bi-2212 superconduc-tor ta.es, the superconducting properties re-ma.ned inta.t in the ta.es.

The a.unda.ce of beneficia. insects in the pa.dy field ca. be influenced by the a.unda.ce of insect pests, wa.er pa.a.eters, clima.ic fa.tors a.d pla.t tra.ts. This study wa. conducted to determine effects of wa.er pa.a.eters, clima.ic fa.tors a.d pla.t tra.ts on a.unda.t insects. Findings of the studies showed tha. there were significa.t correla.ions between a.l beneficia. insects in pa.dy field a.d wa.er pa.a.eters tested, na.ely, wa.er tempera.ure, sa.inity, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, biologica. oxygen dema.d, chemica. oxygen dema.d, a.monia.a.d tota. suspended solids. Moreover, the selected wa.er pa.a.eters of wa.er tempera.ure, dissolved oxygen, biologica. oxygen dema.d a.d chemica. oxygen dema.d were good predictors for a.unda.t beneficia. insects in pa.dy field a. Sunga. Burong, specifica.ly for insects of sub-orders a.isoptera.a.d Zygoptera. a.d insects from fa.ilies Gerrida. a.d Coccinellida.. The pla.t height, insect pest, tempera.ure, ra.nfa.l a.d humidity were found to be good predictors on the a.unda.ce of beneficia. insects; nevertheless, the R2 va.ue of multiple regression models wa. rela.ively low due to significa.t rela.ionship between wa.er pa.a.eters a.d insects. Considera.ion fa.tors of wa.er pa.a.eters, clima.ic fa.tors a.d pla.t tra.ts were strongly correla.ed with those pa.a.eters a.d a.unda.ce of insects in the pa.dy field a. Sunga. Objective:To describe the diet a.d feeding ecology ofHemira.phus fa. (H. fa.) through investiga.ing the stoma.h contents. Methods: Sa.pling of tota. 430 individua.s ofH. fa. wa. ca.ried out from commercia. ca.ches la.ded a. West Wha.f fish ha.bor of Ka.a.hi coa.t, Pa.ista. during Ja.ua.y–December 2010. The tota. length a.d weight of ea.h individua. were recorded. Sa.ples were pa.ted into Group 1 (15–20 cm,n = 240) a.d Group 2 (21–26 cm,n = 190), to estima.e cha.ges in diet with fish size. To remove a.imenta.y ca.a., fishes were dissected a.d kept into 10% forma.in. Then gut contents were exa.ined under a.light microscope for ea.h intestine. Stoma.h fullness a. well a. dieta.y composition wa. a.certa.ned from gut contents. Exa.ina.ion a.d a.a.yses were conducted using frequency of occurrence a.d numerica. method. Results:The exa.ina.ion confirmed 47.67% stoma.h a. empty. Furthermore, our study revea.ed tha. the diet ofH. fa. consists of fishes, isopods, ostra.ods,Da.hnia. shells, a.ga., unidentified pla.ts a.d a.ima. ma.eria.s. This study proved tha.H. fa. is a. omnivorous fish feeding on fishes, isopods, shells, a.ga. a.d pla.t a.d a.ima. origina.ed different food items. a.cording to the Schoener overla. index, there wa. no significa.t difference in feeding of the two length groups ofH. fa. (C = 0.833). In a.dition, the Sha.non-Wiener index presented tha. in Group 1, the prey diversity of the ha.fbea. wa. lower (H = 0.90) tha. tha. of Group 2 (H = 1.02). Conclusions: The findings of the present study would be very effective for susta.na.le ma.a.ement of bla.k-ba.red ha.fbea. fishery in the Ka.a.hi coa.t of Pa.ista. a.d the surrounding ecosystems.

We demonstra.e a.broa. ba.dwidth multiwa.elength la.er ba.ed on a.bidirectiona. Lyot filter a.d a.semiconductor optica. a.plifier with a.mecha.ism of intensity-dependent loss a. the fla.ness a.ent. a.wide ba.dwidth of a.multiwa.elength spectrum of 32.9 nm within a.5 dB uniformity is obta.ned under optimized pola.iza.ion pa.a.- eters. For this ca.e, the number of genera.ed la.ing lines is 329 with a.fixed wa.elength sepa.a.ion of 0.1 nm. The power sta.ility of this multiwa.elength la.er is less tha. 1.35 dB within 200 min time fra.e. This shows tha. the bidirectiona. Lyot filter provides a. a.terna.ive option for multiwa.elength genera.ion in la.er systems.

Bemisia.ta.a.i is one of serious insect pests a.ta.king vegeta.les a.d ha. been difficult to control using conventiona. insecticides. In the pa.t 10 yea.s, new insecticides ha.e been introduced tha. provide a.diversity of novel modes of a.tion a.d routes of a.tivity to effectively control whitefly. Consequently, intensive used of insecticides in vegeta.le cultiva.ion ha. resulted in reduced susceptibility a.d develops resista.ce in a.riculture industry. In controlling B. ta.a.i popula.ion, insecticides a.e the common method used by fa.mers. This study a.med to determine the most effective insecticide a.a.nst B ta.a.i by using LC5o va.ue. This study wa. conducted a. the Crop Protection La.ora.ory, Fa.ulty of a.plied Science, Universiti Teknologi Ma.a.Ma.a.sia.with the controlled room tempera.ure of 24.33 ± 0.14℃ with da.k a.d light ra.io of 1：1 （12 hours： 12 hours） is a. idea. condition for rea.ing the insect. The hypothesis of the study is to test if insecticides ca. control the nymph of whitefly. a.tota. of 50 two-da.-old nymphs were trea.ed with insecticides using lea.-dip bioa.sa. procedure. This experiment wa. replica.ed three times. The surviva. ra.es of the nymphs were a.a.yzed using a.a.ysis of va.ia.ce （a.OVa.. Da.a.on toxicity wa. a.a.yzed by a.specia. Probit Progra.me-Single Line a.a.ysis ba.ed on Finney （1971）. There wa. a.significa.t difference （df = 8, F = 85.84, P = 0.000） in surviva. ra.e of nymph ofB. ta.a.i to eight insecticides tested. a.ong the insecticides tested, dimethoa.e, chlorpyrifos ＋ cypermethrin a.d dia.enthiuron showed significa.tly higher surviva. ra.e of nymph compa.ed to other trea.ments. When LC50 va.ues were compa.ed for dia.enthiuron which is less potent （LCs0 ---- 2.44）, a.a.ectin wa. found to be 3.44 times more potent tha. dia.enthiuron, followed by esfenva.era.e,a.eta.iprid, profenofos, chlorpyrifos ＋ cypermethrin a.d dimethoa.e, a.d the lea.t potent wa. delta.ethrin. Sta.fruit (a.errhoa.ca.a.bola.L.) is a. importa.t fruit for Ma.a.sia. export a.d grea. a.tention ha. been ma.e to improve sta.fruit fruit qua.ity a. Ma.a.sia. a.ricultura. Resea.ch a.d Development Institute (Ma.DI). The current study used next genera.ion sequencing (NGS) technologies to develop sta.fruit simple sequence repea. (SSR) from 2 va.ieties na.ely B11 a.d B17 using Illumina.HiSeq. The pre-processed rea.s were de novo a.sembled to genera.e a.proxima.ely 75,000 a.d 74,000 sca.folds respectively. Tota. genome size for B11 a.d B17 were a.ound 345 Mbp a.d 342 Mbp ba.ed on K-mer distribution a.a.ysis. In-silico microsa.ellite mining of ea.h va.iety ha. identified more tha. 17,000 SSR in B11 a.d B17 respectively. Dinucleotides were the most a.unda.t, a.counting for more tha. 70% of a.l SSR a.d repea. motif Ga.(49%) wa. most common. a.tota. of 239 SSR primer pa.rs were designed from contigs la.ger tha. 350 nucleotides a.d tested for a.plifica.ion. The 30 polymorphic SSRs were used to DNa.fingerprint of 12 sta.fruit hybrids. Polymorphism informa.ion content (PIC) ra.ged from 0.1411 to 0.6838, with a. a.era.e of 0.3919. The Unweighted Pa.r-Group Method for a.ithmetic a.era.es (UPGMa. dendrogra. clustered 12 sta.fruit a.cessions into 2 groups.
