Globally among biotic stresses,diseases like blight,rust and blast constitute prime constraints for reducing wheat productivity especially in *** sustainable productivity,the development of disease-resistant lines and high yielding varieties is vital and *** study was conducted using 122 advanced breeding lines of wheat including 21 varieties developed by Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute with aims to identify genotypes having high yield potential and resistant to leaf blight,leaf rust and blast *** genotypes were evaluated for resistance against leaf blight and leaf rust at Dinajpur and wheat blast at Jashore under field *** of 122 genotypes tested,20 lines were selected as resistant to leaf blight based on the area under the diseases progress curve under both irrigated timely sown and irrigated late sown ***-two genotypes were found completely free from leaf rust infection,59 genotypes were identified as resistant,and 13 genotypes were identified as moderately resistant to leaf *** genotypes were immune against wheat blast,42 genotypes were categorized as resistant,and 26 genotypes were identified as moderately resistant to wheat *** data revealed that the 16 genotypes showed a positive 2NS segment among the 18 immune genotypes selected against wheat blast under field *** genotypes BAW 1322,BAW 1295,and BAW 1203 can be used as earlier maturing genotypes and the genotypes BAW 1372,BAW 1373,BAW 1297 and BAW 1364 can be used for lodging tolerant due to short plant *** genotypes WMRI Gom 1,BAW 1349 and BAW 1350 can be selected for bold grain and the genotypes WMRI Gom 1,BAW 1297,BAW 1377 can be used as high yielder for optimum seeding condition but genotypes BAW 1377 and BAW 1366 can be used for late sown *** selected resistant genotypes against specific diseases can be used in the further breeding program to develop wheat varieties having higher disea

Liver stiffness as a predictor of hepatocellular carcinoma behavior in patients with hepatitis C related liver cirrhosis

Background: Risk strati cation and prognostication of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) help to improve patient outcome. Herein we investigated the role of liver stiffness measurement (LSM) in the prediction of HCC behavior. Methods: Totally 121 na ve patients with HCC were included. HCC radiological evaluation and staging were done. LSM was measured using virtual touch quanti cation. Patients were divided into early to intermediate HCC (BCLC-0, A and B) and late HCC (BCLCC and D). HCC was treated according to the BCLC stage. HCC recurrence-free interval was estimated. Results: The mean LSM inside the tumor was signi cantly lower than the peri-tumoral area and the cirrhotic non-cancerous liver parts (P<0.001). In late HCCs stage, the mean LSM inside the tumor and in the peri-tumoral tissue was lower than the corresponding values in the early to intermediate HCCs stage (P<0.001). LSM inside the tumor and in the peri-tumoral tissue negatively correlated with serum AFP, tumor vascular invasion, and stage (P<0.05). The recurrence-free interval was directly correlated to LSM inside the tumor and inversely to LSM in cirrhotic non tumorous liver part. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the recurrence-free interval was signi cantly longer in patients with LSM inside the tumor of ≥1.25m/s compared to those with LSM inside the tumor of<1.25m/s. Conclusions: LSM can serve as a potential non-invasive predictor for HCC clinical behavior and the recurrence-free interval following loco-regional treatments.

The main objective of this paper is to introduce a new theory called size-dependent thermopiezoelectricity for smart *** proposed theory includes the combination of thermoelastic and piezoelectric influences which enable us to describe the deformation and mechanical behaviors of smart nanostructures subjected to thermal,and piezoelectric *** of difficulty of experimental research problems associated with the proposed ***,we propose a new boundary element method(BEM)formulation and algorithm for the solution of such problems,which involve temperatures,normal heat fluxes,displacements,couple-tractions,rotations,force-tractions,electric displacement,and normal electric displacement as primary variables within the BEM *** computational performance of the proposed methodology has been demonstrated by using the generalized modified shift-splitting(GMSS)iteration method to solve the linear systems resulting from the BEM *** advantages are investigated and compared with other iterative *** numerical results are depicted graphically to show the size-dependent effects of thermopiezoelectricity,thermoelasticity,piezoelectricity,and elasticity theories of *** numerical results also show the effects of the sizedependent and piezoelectric on the displacement *** validity,efficiency and accuracy of the proposed BEM formulation and algorithm have been *** findings of the current study contribute to the further development of technological and industrial applications of smart nanostructures.

A New BEM for Fractional Nonlinear Generalized Porothermoelastic Wave Propagation Problems

The main purpose of the current article is to develop a novel boundary element model for solving fractional-order nonlinear generalized porothermoelastic wave propagation problems in the context of temperaturedependent functionally graded anisotropic(FGA)*** system of governing equations of the considered problem is extremely very difficult or impossible to solve analytically due to nonlinearity,fractional order diffusion and strongly anisotropic mechanical and physical properties of considered porous ***,an efficient boundary element method(BEM)has been proposed to overcome this difficulty,where,the nonlinear terms were treated using the Kirchhoff transformation and the domain integrals were treated using the Cartesian transformation method(CTM).The generalized modified shift-splitting(GMSS)iteration method was used to solve the linear systems resulting from BEM,also,GMSS reduces the iterations number and CPU execution time of *** numerical findings show the effects of fractional order parameter,anisotropy and functionally graded material on the nonlinear porothermoelastic stress *** numerical outcomes are in very good agreement with those from existing literature and demonstrate the validity and reliability of the proposed methodology.

A numerical model based on the dual-reciprocity boundary element method(DRBEM)for studying the transient magneto-thermo-viscoelastic waves in a rotating nonhomogeneous anisotropic solid is *** formulation is tested through its application to the problem of an initially stressed solid placed in a constant primary magnetic field acting in the direction of the z-axis and rotating about this axis with a constant angular *** the case of plane deformation,a numerical scheme for the implementation of the method is presented and the numerical computations are carried out for the temperature,displacement components and thermal stress *** validity of DRBEM is examined by considering a magneto-thermo-viscoelastic solid occupies a rectangular region and good agreement is obtained with existent *** results obtained are presented graphically to show the influence of initial stress on the displacement components and thermal stress components.

Positional effect of mutations in 5'UTR of hepatitis C virus 4a on patients' response to therapy

AIM： To investigate the effects of mutations in domain Ⅲ of the hepatitis C virus （HCV） internal ribosome entry sequences （IRES） on the response of chronic HCV genotype 4a patients to interferon therapy.METHODS： HCV RNA was extracted from 19 chronic HCV 4a patients receiving interferon/ribavirin therapy who showed dramatic differences in their response to combination therapy after initial viral clearance. IRES domain Ⅲ was cloned and 15 clones for each patient were sequenced. The obtained sequences were aligned with genotype 4a prototype using the ClustaIW program and mutations scored. Prediction of stem-loop secondary structure and thermodynamic stability of the major quasispecies in each patient was performed using the MFOLD 3.2 program with Turner energies and selected constraints on base pairing.RESULTS： Analysis of RNA secondary structure revealed that insertions in domain Ⅲ altered WatsonCrick base pairing of stems and reduced molecular stability of RNA, which may ultimately reduce binding affinity to ribosomal proteins. Insertion mutations in domain - were statistically more prevalent in sustained viral response patients （SVR, n = 14） as compared to breakthrough （BT, n = 5） patients.CONCLUSION： The influence of mutations within domain Ⅲ on the response of HCV patients to combination therapy depends primarily on the position, but not the frequency, of these mutations within IRES domain Ⅲ.

Analysis and Control of a Three-Phase Switched Reluctance Wind Generator

This paper deals with various aspects of modeling, simulation, analysis, and control ofa SRG （switched reluctance generator） in different modes of operation. Excitation method of such a generator is shortly described. The output power of the SRG is controlled so that it can track the maximum output power of a wind turbine drive applications. Also, the output generator voltage is stabilized under either load or wind speed variations. Basic operational characteristics of a three-phase 6/4 SRG are developed through experimental observation. Meanwhile, the real-time operation was implemented in a DSP （digital signal processor） environment. The simulation of the complete system model has been obtained using the Matlab/Simulink software. A good agreement between experimental and simulation results has been observed which supports the validity of the proposed analysis.

Conjunctival flap advancement with or without scleral graft for hypotony maculopathy after trabeculectomy

AIM: To investigate the outcomes of adaptive conjunctival flap advancement surgical techniques with or without scleral graft for patients undergoing revision surgery after ***: This retrospective study included 28 eyes of 28 subjects from December 2015 to April 2018. A group of 15 eyes underwent conjunctival advancement only while the other 13 eyes did conjunctival advancement with partial thickness scleral graft. In both study groups, we considered the intraocular pressure(IOP) as our primary outcome and visual acuity(VA) as our secondary outcome. Both were assessed pre-and post-operatively till the last followup possible point. Additionally, we classified the patients according to complete and qualified success ***: The mean age of the conjunctival advancement group was 36.87±19.25 y, while it was 44.08±18.04 in the other group. In both study groups, the mean IOP significantly increased after revision surgery at 1, 2, 3 mo and the last follow-up visit when compared to prior the surgery(P<0.001). Moreover, VA was significantly improved(P=0.03) in the final follow-up for both surgical techniques. When we compared the change from baseline in both groups, there was no significant difference between IOP improvement in 1 mo(P=0.263), while the difference was significant in 2 mo(P=0.03), 3 mo(P=0.02) and in the final follow-up visit postoperatively. However, this difference was not significant regarding VA(P=0.5).CONCLUSION: The both adaptive techniques of conjunctival advancement and conjunctival advancement with scleral graft are effective for treating patients with lateonset hypotony. Yet, more prospective studies are needed to assert upon these results.

Amoxicillin–clavulanic acid induced sperm abnormalities and histopathological changes in mice

Objective: To explore the genotoxic potential and histopathological changes induced in liver, kidney, testis, brain and heart after using the antibiotic drug amoxicillin/clavulanic acid(4:1).Methods: The study included chromosomal aberration analysis in bone-marrow and mouse spermatocytes, induction of sperm morphological abnormalities and histopathological changes in different body organs. The drug was administrated orally at a dose of81 mg/kg body weight twice daily(Total = 162 mg/kg/day) for various periods of time equivalent to 625 mg/men(twice daily).Results: The results revealed non-significant chromosomal aberrations induced after treatment with amoxicillin/clavulanic acid(AC) in both bone marrow and mouse spermatocytes after 7 and 10 days treatment. On the other hand, statistically significant percentages of sperm morphological abnormalities were recorded. Such percentage reached 8.10 ± 0.55, 9.86 ± 0.63 and 12.12 ± 0.58 at the three time intervals tested(7, 14 and 35 days after the 1 st treatment respectively)(treatment performed for 5 successive days) compared with 2.78 ± 0.48 for the control. The results also revealed histopathological changes in different body organs after AC treatment which increased with the prolongation of the period of therapy. Congestion of central vain, liver hemorrhage and hydropic changes in hepatocytes were noticed in the liver. Degenerative changes were found in kidney glomerulus and tubules while testis showed atrophy of seminiferous tubules, and reduction of spermatogenesis. AC also induced neurotoxicity and altered brain neurotransmitter levels. Hemorrhage in the myocardium, disruption of cardiac muscle fibers and pyknotic nuclei in cardiomyocytes were recorded as side effects of AC in heart ***: The results concluded that AC treatment induced sperm morphological abnormalities and histopathological changes in different body organs. Clinicians must be aware of such results while describing the drug.
