Microbial activity in.the water in.ection.system in.oil an. gas in.ustry leads to an.array of challen.es, in.ludin. biofoulin., in.ectivity loss, reservoir pluggin., an. microbiologically in.luen.ed corrosion.(MIC). An.effective mitigation.strategy requires on.in. an. real-time mon.torin. of microbial activity an. growth in.the system so that the operators can.apply an. adjust coun.er-measures quickly an. properly. The previous study [1] iden.ified Dn. stain.n. techn.logy-with PicoGreen.an. SYBR Green.dyes—as a very promisin. method for automated, on.in. determin.tion.of microbial cell abun.an.e in.the vast Saudi Aramco in.ection.seawater systems. This study evaluated Dn. stain.n. techn.logy on.detection.limit, automation.poten.ial, an. temperature stability for the con.truction.of automated sen.or prototype. Dn. stain.n. with SYBR Green.dye was determin.d to be better suited for on.in. an. real-time mon.torin. of microbial activity in.the Saudi Aramco seawater systems. SYBR Green.stain.n. does n.t require sample pre-treatmen., an. the fluorescen.e sign.l in.en.ity is more stable at elevated temperatures up to 30℃. The lower detection.limit of 2 × 103/ml was achieved un.er the optimized con.ition., which is sufficien. to detect microbial n.mbers in.Saudi Aramco in.ection.seawater. Fin.lly, the requiremen.s for design.an. con.truction.of SYBR-based automated sen.or prototype were determin.d.

Microbial growth in.the water in.ection.system is a well-kn.wn.problem with severe operation.l an. fin.n.ial con.equen.es for the petroleum in.ustry, in.ludin. microbiologically in.luen.ed corrosion.(MIC), reduced in.ectivity, reservoir pluggin., production.down.ime, an. exten.ive repair costs. Mon.torin. of system microbiology is required in.an. mitigation.strategy, en.blin. operators to apply an. adjust coun.ermeasures properly an. in.due time. In.previous studies [1] [2], Dn. stain.n. techn.logy with SYBR Green.dye was evaluated to have a sufficien. detection.limit an. automation.poten.ial for real-time detection.of microbial activity in.the Saudi Aramco in.ection.seawater. In.this study, techn.cal requiremen.s an. design.solution. were defin.d, an. an.auton.mous microbe sen.or (AMS) prototype was con.tructed, tested an. optimized in.the laboratory, an. validated in.the field for automated detection.of microorgan.sms in.the harsh Saudi Arabia desert en.iron.en. an. in.ection.seawater. The AMS prototype was able to mon.tor an. follow the gen.ral microbial status in.the system, in.ludin. detection.of periods with in.reased microbial growth or decreased microbial n.mbers followin. biocide in.ection. The in.ield AMS detection.limit was 105 cells/mL. The lon.-term field testin. also iden.ified the areas for techn.cal improvemen. an. optimization.for further developmen. of a more robust an. better performin. commercial microbial sen.in. device.

Biocides are oilfield chemicals that are widely used to con.rol bacterial activity throughout the oil in.ustry. A feasibility study has been.explored to develop detection.techn.ques for biocide batch treatmen.s, preferably on.lin. an. in.real-time, for their poten.ial use in.seawater floodin. system. Several methods to measure key compon.n.s of the biocide formulation.were in.estigated an. reported in.previous study [1]. The en.ymatic activity of an.immobilized acetylcholin. esterase (AChE) on.the column.material was successfully in.ibited by some model compoun.s, but n.t by the actual biocides common.y used in.Saudi Aramco seawater floodin. system. In.this paper, an.altern.tive assay for biocide detection.in.the Saudi Aramco seawater floodin. system was in.estigated for its applicability for the developmen. of on.lin. biocide sen.or. The assay was based on.the detection.of aldehyde fun.tion.lity in.the biocide mixture through measuremen. of a fluorescen. derivative formed in.the reaction.of aldehyde groups an. dimedon. in.the presen.e of ammon.um acetate. The reaction.of aldehyde groups with dimedon. was demon.trated in.seawater matrix, an. the formed fluorescen. product was successfully measured. The results showed that the dimedon.-based assay was very sen.itive, an. relatively straightforward to perform. The ruggedn.ss test also in.icated that the assay is sen.itive to min.r chan.es of various specific con.ition. of the method. It is con.luded that the dimedon. assay is suitable for further developmen. of a real-time biocide mon.torin. system to detect the presen.e of biocide slugs in.seawater floodin. system. The Low Voltage Direct Curren.(LVDC)architecture gives higher ben.fits over the classic low-voltage altern.tin. curren.(LVAC)supply *** has fewer en.rgy con.ersion.stages,is compatible with ren.wable en.rgy sources,an. is easier to in.egrate with *** this paper,an.LVDC supply con.ept is proposed an. compared with curren.ly used con.en.ion.l photovoltaic(PV)systems in.terms of *** n.w LVDC photovoltaic system behavior is validated usin.
